Credit goes to Scootertrash for the heads up on this trick. If you have trouble removing bearings from an engine case where you cannot bang them out from the other side, you can get the job done with a slice of bread. Just start packing the bread into the hole in the center of the bearing. It's better to start with the crust (even better if it contains seeds) so that there is a firmer layer that builds up between the ball bearings, keeping the rest of the bread from oozing its way out from between the bearings. Sockets work well for packing the bread in, just find one that that fits snugly but moves in and out freely.
