New Jersey
New Jersey (often informally abbreviated to "Jersey") is a state in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern regions of the United States. It is the fourth smallest, the tenth most populous, and most densely populated state in the US. The state is named after the island of Jersey in the English Channel. It is bordered on the north by New York, on the east by the Atlantic Ocean, on the southwest by Delaware, and on the west by Pennsylvania. Parts of New Jersey lie within the metropolitan areas of New York, Philadelphia, and the Delaware Valley.
To the Moped Army community, New Jersey is the state which seems to produce large amounts of underage kids who want to "supe" up their Tomos Targa LX's which pretty much all are sporting a BiTurbo exhaust. Various proposed "upgrades" include removing the "restrictor", and adding a turbocharger. Their post include bad grammar, poor spelling, all caps, and slang most of us cannot understand. Many of these kids also claim that their bikes reach speed of up to 60mph. Many of these New Jersey kids have become a joke, and an annoyance to the Moped Army forum users. Some of them honestly want to learn more about their mopeds and to fully understand its concepts. The majority of Jersey moped owners attempt to sell their sweet Tomos' at the age of 16 to cover car insurance.
HOWEVER, were it not for NJ, which was a moped mecca throughout the 70's, 80's, and a refuge into the 90's, there would be far fewer used Tomoses from those years available in the area. NJ was home to most all moped importers and distributors in the US. New Jersey also played pivotal roles in the certification for mopeds to be legally opperated in ALL states. NJ still houses some of the largest moped and parts distributors in the US.
