I was born in 1964, so that makes me 50 years young. I collect Beatles, Beach Boys, Badfinger, and Roy Orbison music. (Beatles implies all the solo artists as well) I got my Motron Medalist in late spring of 1980. While on my way to the local theater to watch The Empire Strikes Back, some drunk ran into me. I got a concussion because my helmet flew off. They x-ray-ed my head and found absolutely nothing. (I still have no brains!) I fixed the bike up and rode it several more years. When I got married in 1987, I had to take it for one ceremonial ride before the wedding. I parked the bike until the mid 90's after I had kids. I drove it a few times and parked it for another 15 years. Since I intend never to grow up, I decided to get the old girl running again. She's old, rather ugly, and leaks here and there, not much different from my wife. I have been cleaning her up and am just about to start working on the engine. I bet I can probably restore it for nearly the $550 bucks I bought it for. Can't wait to give her a good ride just like back when I was a teenager. (I wish I felt the same about the wife!) Update: Since I wrote this 4 years ago, I found another green Medalist on the west side of Cleveland, a yellow Sprint in the Akron area, a silver Medalist in Pittsburgh, a third green Medalist in Toledo, an AMF Roadmaster friction drive in Cleveland, a Scorpion SC1 in Warren, Ohio, and a Puch Mark II in Chardon. I'm having a blast working on these bikes and actually hope to ride several of them soon. I also met a guy in Columbus and bought a Pryer trike rear end and plan to convert the third green Medalist over the winter.
