So... is 110 psi low on a moby or is that okay?

How do you do a leakdown test? I have spark. I put a new dellorto on there. new condensor. set points. Compression is about 100-110 psi while using a compression tester.

Where is the ground and how do you test for that? Every time i have taken the plug out and held it against the cylinder with a friend peddling, i have been getting spark.. Is there any way that after a while it would lose spark?

thanks Rebel, but is there an empirical measurement that i can use to have a more concrete idea as to why the bike isn't running?

How high should the psi be in a '77 moby 50v for it to run well? Also what is the lowest the psi could be for it to run? Is there a range?

After fiddling with the clutch and timing I got it to start right up... But after letting it run at full throttle for about 30 seconds and hearing it sound good it just turned right off... I'm not sure if it is due to the exhaust coming loose/off or because of some other reason... Anyone have experience with this? Anything helps.. Thanks!

I forgot to mention that my exahust doesn't screw all the way into the exhaust port because the threads are messed up and is temporarily glued in poorly.. Could it be that there isn't enough suction to get the engine to a fast enough speed to engange the clutch or should I be able to start without the exhauast on?

Nick, what is the difference between the two clutches, what to look for how they feel? I have a 1977 50v.. not sure if that is dimoby or a variated clutch... How much are you asking for your stock dimoby?

Hey everyone, soo just when I thought I had everything perfect; it seems i was wrong. Anyway, here's the issue: I have a 1977 moby. The started clutch seems to be slipping. I'm not exactly sure yet if that is the only problem or is the problem because I haven't opened her up yet. Although after reading a few posts on here and the mabecane site it seems to be the issue. When I

would it run at all or just would not idle Eric?
Roger Semour — 11 years ago
Here's what i got now.. Replaced the plug, replaced the condenser, the points seem like they are a little melted and mushroomed over so i was going to replace them because it still starts up. Runs at full throttle and a little in between but still doesn't want to stay running. I checked the timing a bit and that should be fine. Is there anything else that could be wrong with it other

So if I have this right, with 2 balls you have more toque or does this not at all relate to torque? But either way 2 balls are better for hills? but three or 4 are better for flats?
Roger Semour — 11 years ago
What exactly is the advantage of having two, three or four balls in your variator? I have heard that two balls is advantageous for speed of some sort? Just curious as to why? Any one got any ideas?

Roger Semour — 11 years ago
Hey so, I have a 50v that i think is the 30mph model. I was looking through some stuff and I was wondering if there are any easy modifications i can do to get a little more power out of it how much they would give me power wise? Exhaust and new carb? Anything that doesn't cost money? I don't really want to kit it or bore it out. Anything helps. Thanks!
