That is as fast as that bike should go. Moby speedos read kinda slow, so your speed may actaually be more like 33,34.I beleive the traveler is a non variator model, so a variator clutch may help both your acceleration, and top speed.there is one on ebay right now.If you do not have a variator, you should get one.I have seen people who have spent hundreds on moby performance stuff that gives them

I would try some of the basic maintenance that was outlined earlier. the airbox is a black plastic box that covers the outside of the carb.I know for sure my ped goes much slower when I ride double on it.As for baggy clothes, that sounds silly to me. Try wearing a speedo, I doubt you will go much faster

Sounds like it is working pretty wellyou may be able to get a little more out of iteasy stuff-new plug-clean the muffler-clean the carb-if it has a complete airbox, try putting a 1/2" hole in the bottom of itharder stuff-check and reset the timing if needed-check the compression and install new rings if neededhttp://www.mopedarmy.com/forums/discuss/1/173041/173041/

That intake has 4 mounting holes, how do you expect it to fit?

If we are all such experts at using this site, then why are we discussing this in the "performance tuning" section

A FAQ I think would be a good idea, but nothing will ever slow down the rate of Faster Tomos? Posts.A welcome forum would not work, because no one would bother to answer all the repeat questions, I do not think many of us would hang it out in the newbie forum. So newbies would be forced to post in the other forums.I think maybe a "first ime to this site" link on the main page would be coo

Auto Zone is a fine example of an auto parts store

If the spark comes a little sooner how does the bike react? If the spark comes a little latter how does the bike react?I have a moped that runs, and idles well. When I come to a stop after riding. and the clutch lets go, the bike almost stalls out for a second, before it starts idling normally.I think my timing may be a wee bit off, or my clutch may be a bit too "grabby"

I'll give you 10 bucks for your gurtner. Then you will be able to afford a new jet.Deal?
Dan Adams (50:1) — 17 years ago
just take it to an auto parts store they will find you one that will work
Dan Adams (50:1) — 17 years ago
Gurtners have 10mm, or 12mm depending on the bike30mph models use 12mm intake with a 58 (240) jetI found that folks with delorto 15mm carbs didn't really go faster than I did at the BBQTell me more about this arreche carb.1- It really fits right on?2- No problems with the variator tilting?3-Can you still put the side covers on?4-Do you have the short straight intake, or the long bendy one?
Dan Adams (50:1) — 17 years ago
Do not upjet unless you are going to improve air intake.plus it is nearly impossible to find gurtner jets

You can't return a mufler. It is illegal to sell them used.Well at least in some states

Drilling a hole in the baffle will make it alot louder.-What is the speed rating? (fork plate A 30miles, B 25miles, C 20miles)-How fast do you go now (tracked by car) moby speedos are not correct, I have noticed they read slower than actual speed. There are alot of factors involved with speed. Here it is..Simply1-Carb air intake size, jet size (how much fuel will be exploded)2-Engine displacement (h

Just as I suspected.I have been told that the stock moby muffler is pretty high performence.

Yeah shaky is bad.Put in on the center stand and make it go VroomWatch the rear tire and wheel, does it spin evenly, or is it all over the place. If it does not spin evenly, is it the tire or the rim. do the same with the front wheel spining it by handWith the bike still on the centerstand, sit on the bike and lift the front wheel off the ground. shake the handle bars around to find play. if t

if a 25mph moped goes 28, then why would you do more engine tuning? If it runs well at idle, and at high rpms, and goes as fast as it should (faster) then the timing is probably perfect. You could check your compression, but why? it runs well.Without some serious porting work, it is as good as it will get. Some folks like to put different sprockets on their bikes to increase top speed. but what you
Dan Adams (50:1) — 17 years ago
Then 28 is pretty good.12mm carb with bigger intakePorting cylinder in and out. could make it a 30mph model if done right.I would not try it without a 30 mph cylinder to look at.Do not waste any money of perf parts. They will not help your small ports

What is the speed rating on the fork plate?a=30 milesb=25 miles
Dan Adams (50:1) — 17 years ago
Short answer NoLong answer Maybe..but it is probably not worth tryingThe 50 series engines Mount only with 1 screw, they tilt if a variator clutch is used. The Cady M1 engine Bolts on in 2 places (no variator)Even if you could get it to fit, It probably could not tilt due to your frame. If your bike only goes 15 you probably have other problems. On the 50 series fork plate all models are stamped wi

Do not do that.It will make your bike run lean, and hot. 2 great ingredients for a quick seize. It would also be loud enough to get you arrested. There is not much available for cadys as far as aftermarket stuff.

That Black 50v is part of my moby fleet. I have done alot of work to it, and I plan on registering it soon. It may not have not run well for you because there was no base gasket in it. it purrs like a kitten now

http://mopedwarehouse.com/catalog/shopping_cart.php/keywords/puller/x/0/y/0/sort/4a/page/1/products_id/381you need this puller, it also does the timing camif you have a variator you really need a some circlip pliers with the exact right angle on the grabbing pieces. I had to modify some standard circlip pliers.

I have only seen 2 sprokets on 50s Big and small. I have never bothered to count the teeth. All variator models have big sprockets, non variators have small sprockets.I have found that some carbs do not have numbers printed on them. for the ones that do the second number after AR denotes intake size, 12 is the largest on I have found yet.model 50s made after 77 have a extra letter on the fork pl

Before installing any speed kits, or upgrades, you want the thing to run as good as possible.Have someone in a car follow to get a good speed check.I have noticed that moby speedos read slow (moby speedo reading 30mph = 33ish)People often put performance parts on their bikes when the bikes are not running at %100. This is a total waste.Get the bike running well, then consider upgrading. If you hav

Almost as fast after messing with the piston???correct me if I am wrong Mike, but I though my COMPLETELY stock 50v was at least as fast as yours.

Did you just get you bike running for the first time in years? If so you just need to burn out the old crap, and clean out the muffler
