I just began my winter project. An Old mobylettehttp://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4581105657&category=46093So far I have been shocked by the lucky findings.-17mm (ta 17 b) Dellorto Carb (where these stock on this bike?)-A 15mm straight manifold (easily thick enough to be made wider)-A variator clutch-Pretty much the same engine dimensions as the 50v(So I can s

So if we put boost bottles on our bongs, then we get twice as high?
Dan Adams (50:1) — 17 years ago
I would not consider the 2nd muffler in the picture. I have seen a couple of these on mobies and they look TERRIBLE. all those springs and things make a very bad looking connection to the cylinder.

Find a new jet HA I bought I hobby shop drill bit set. I can make any size jet like magic using this special chart.http://bobmay.astronomy.net/misc/drillchart.htm

Search this forum forem "motobecane" and you will find some ideas.there are no compatable engines, but there are some kits
Dan Adams (50:1) — 17 years ago
I still think someone should try drilling out the middle of a gurtner bigger, then resizing the main jet. Total parts cost =$0I would try it, but I dont feel like it.

I guess I miswrote.I am bad with tech terms, I meant Drill the airintake on the carb bigger by just running a big bit right through the carb, make the flow fatter. The bendy intake pipe is allready 14mm, so I feel like it could handle a gurtner with larger modified ports

A woodruff key is a small piece of metal that fits in between slots on the cam, and the crank shaft. A puch does have one. It keeps the timming in place. With motobecanes you get the cam in the right position, then bang it on and hope it stays put. It's not that I dont beleive in performance modifications, it's just that I have seen it hurt bikes more than I have seen it help.I am stil

Yes Jayho is right.except I have seen B models with a 10mm carb.A 50v allready has a HUGE rear sprocket, I do not know about other sprockets fitting mobies Anyone had luck?Even a stock 50v is MUCH better on hills then just about every other moped. Before messing around with a carb that may not work check your compression, and timing.A great moby has about 160lbs, and due to the nature of the no w

No I am not sure, but I have seen a lot of evindence to support this theory.A, B, and C are not just Motobecane codes, but standard mopeds classes that mean 20, 25, and 30.Although I have never seen a "C" moby, I can say every A, and B 50v (which is many) that I have seen do have different cylinders, and carbs. These bikes have been around awhile, and could have had different pieces put o

Interesting idea Will, but I think you will have a bunch of issues-mount looks different-exhaust would have to be completely fabricated-Clutch would have to be changed (where does the belt go-Radiator looks like it would hit front fender/tire-fabricate new stator plate?? How would your lights be powered?

Usually the flywheel is only a royal bitch the 1st time it is removed.Just do not tighten it like crazy when putting it back on, then it wont be so stickyThats right, I remember Bret talking about moving to SF at the BBQ. Congratulations he's a keeperMy personal belief is that most performance tunning is just not worth it.I have seen too many bikes bikes messed up, and dollars thrown down t

No one will want to ride next to you.You could get a ticket. And you might be running your engine too hot.And everyone in your neighborhood will hate you.So unless you are one of those dreadfull antagonists DONT DO IT
Dan Adams (50:1) — 17 years ago
I think having a tighter belt should not really affect your gearing. It does not matter that the engine is pulled back a little with a tighter belt in place, your low gear is still the same, high gear is still the same, and variator is centrifical, so it should open up at the same time.If your old belt slips, then of coarse that would effect performance.Since the engine is tilted more with your new

You would need a bigger carb AR2.12.xxx, and a less restricted cylinder.search and you will find (use search link)

I bet it made a difference in Volume! The delorto 15-15 is not plug and play. Alot of people have had problems getting them to stay on. awhile ago someone was offerring to machine new intakes for mobies that would fit (search for it) I have ridden my stock 50vs next to delortoized 50vs, and I did not notice much difference. If you are looking for more air intake, I would consider boring out the
Dan Adams (50:1) — 17 years ago
If you are running with a stock Ar.2.12 12mm carb, then the size of the intake should not make much difference (as long as it is atleast 12mm)over 30mph on flat is pretty fast.Aside from putting on a bigger carb, or boring that one out a bit, and rejetting, you are going as fast as you should go.
Dan Adams (50:1) — 17 years ago
yupyou must have great compression.my best 50v (A) goes close about 34 on flat
Dan Adams (50:1) — 17 years ago
yeah it is alot of work. I would not bother doing it. just keep an eye out for a 30mph cylinder on ebay, or in the forums here.
Dan Adams (50:1) — 17 years ago
B models generally have a smaller 10mm carb, and smaller intake, and exhaust ports on the cylinder.they can be widened with a dremmel, and grinding bit. you can use a 30mph cylinder as a model to work from. no need to remove the cylinder on the 30mph. just take off the muffler, and the intake manifold to make port measurments.Moby airboxes are as precious as gold. Offering nothing for them is n

If that moped goes 30, then I am starting to doubt this whole ABC concept we were all so quick to accept.I did have a 25 mph cylinder on one of my mobies, but it said "25 miles"Anywho a variator will make it faster, you will need a clutch/cam puller (moped warehouse) and a pair of circlip pliers that are just right. I have been able to remove a clutch without the circlip pliers, but I

http://bobmay.astronomy.net/misc/drillchart.htmUse for boring carbs, jets, etc.
Dan Adams (50:1) — 17 years ago
when you reach 15 mph or so( if you have a variator) the belt on your clutch will begin riding righer between the clutch plates, and your engine will get pulled back.if you engine moves forward and back, you have a variator.http://mopedriders.org/article_view.php?faq=2&fldAuto=18

Should an intake pipe match the diameter of the carb, or should it be a little bigger? My motobecanes with 12mm gurtner carbs, have 13.5mm intakes.
