Do you know the respective weight of the weights for PA50 and PA50ii?there seems to be a boatload of aftermarket weights which are not too expensive, but I don't know which ones would most closely resemble PA50 weights.I think I'm going to try the jammy pipe. It's like $50 with the treats sale.I'm sure the expensive ones perform better, but I can't deal with the noise, an

Thanks for the input.DR kit sounds good.boyesen power reeds.drill carb to 13-13.5 get some jets.new belt. (and belt tips? moped shop or NAPA?)I'll wait to see about any variator changes until laterOK, so cheap performance pipes...Is the jammy pipe garbage? Improvement on stock?Perhaps a good fit for my needs? It sure is cheap.http://www.treatland.tv/honda-hobbit-jamarcol-pipe-p/hobbit-jam

I'm no noob. I'm a Motobecane Guy. I'm just new to hobbits.I recently picked up a PA50ii. I want to do some some shopping for a winter project here. The weekend sales at 1977 and or treats will hopefully still be happening tomorrow, and hopefully include special order items.MY OBJECTIVE.solid, reliabllity, good acceleration, not terribly loud, super fast top speed is not a priorit

I ended up fixing my bike. There must have been a problem with the little black wire and/or its connector to the magnetto. I replaced the little wire, and my problems were over.Mine is wired the same as yours, except with a split from the tail light wire going to the brake switches and back to the brake light.I will never understand how people do not think a brake light is incredibly important.

I have hardwired my motobecane in a very simple way.The output of the white coil goes to the headlamp (always on)the output of the blue coil splits, then goes directly to the tail light, and also up to the headlamp bucket, through the brake switches, than to the brake light.I am not really chassis grounding. All the grounds discreetly run back to the engine. So it runs great, the headlamp is brigh

It's both of those things, combined with a drive belt off to one side.

I understand the idea of the launch lever, but I feel like it would have to interfere with the pedals, and it would really put a lot of un-level pressure on the engine mounts, which are old, but in pretty good shape.replacing my engine mounts on a different bike may have been my least favorite moped job ever. Thanks Micah, I'm sure I'll be up again. I've got jets and brake pads on o

Just to be clear I'm talking about the belt tension spring, not the clutch springs.

I'm running a stock variator on a slightly ported av7, sha15, av10 exhaust.I'm a cheap-ass with bad tools so I am trying to avoid the varplus/hellish clutch bolt removal job, and work with my stock 3 ball clutch.Of coarse it is variating too soon. Will increasing the spring tension alone make a noticable impact on RPM needed to engage the variator? Will increasing spring tension cause some

I don't really understand the electric in my moped.are the two coils 12v each? or is it 2 6 volt coils in series somehow?are the two coils identical in power?I never really got my head around ohms law.If I can increase overall amperage by putting the two together that would be fine.If the only side effect is my headlamp dimming while my brakes are engaged, well I can live with that. It seem

I know, but there is a good reason vehicles have brake lights.I think you must have a fucking death wish if you don't think cars behind you should know when you are stopping. If you get slammed from behind (which seems to be happening a lot lately) and end up in the hospital it will be your fault. If it's not you fault, it doesn't matter, your still fucked. No insurance money for you

So I've simplified my moby's electric, and I'm wondering how I can improve night driving. The article in the wiki by motobrokane suggests a brake light is unimportant. I'm glad the MA noticed and put a bold disclamer on it.http://www.mopedarmy.com/wiki/Hardwiring_a_MotobecaneAnyhow. Can anyone tell me what the amperage output on a 12v moby magentto is? or what the specific am

AV10 pipes don't line up perfectly with older engines. The exhaust port is at an different angle so I believe that pipe would not be horizontal like you would want it to be.I think it would interfere with the bottom of the bike, kick stand, and pedals quite a bit.I could be totally wrong though

This is the carbhttp://www.treatland.tv/dellorto-clone-SHA-15-15-carburetor-p/dellorto-sha-15.15-clone.htmAre you around this weekend?I've got the small rear sprocket on right now, but I feel like I'll have to switch to my big one and get a bigger chain. I need a pedal chain too.Do you have any low rise bars you aren't using?I'm about to order some from Treats. Are you interest
Dan Adams (50:1) — 13 years ago
Sounds good Micah. I'll be in touch soon
Dan Adams (50:1) — 13 years ago
I ordered the carb from Treats, and the listing said SHA jets will fit (tightly)

I'm close to the end here.I have a modestly ported variated AV7 with a stock European 51v exhaust matched with the SHA 15 knockoff with the mixture screw and a larger intake. The stock jet is unlabeled so I don't know what it is.I am not looking for crazy top speed or anything. just modestly better performance and trustworthiness. What range of jets should I order?ThanksXOXOXOXO-Dan
Dan Adams (50:1) — 13 years ago
Oh yeah, I don't have that av10 anymore, it is a stock AV7 that will be going on
Dan Adams (50:1) — 13 years ago
I know some of you have done this.I just got a very nice 50v Engine (Thanks Nathan) and got some help porting the engine (Thanks Micah)Is there anything I have to be careful with? I have a 50v engine spring, but I'm concerned I'm going to run into a problem with the clutch interfering with the pulley wheel.Any input or war stories about putting a variator on a 40 would be helpful. Also,

I always used only the decompression, it always worked quickly on an AV7.have you adjusted the cable? maybe it's not opening the decomp valve enough.
Dan Adams (50:1) — 15 years ago
Holy crap! I bet you get worse mileage then my little Nissan truck
Dan Adams (50:1) — 15 years ago
Doing any performance on a moby with the fixed gear clutch is pointless.figure out if you have a slow cylinderget a variator clutchcheck the timingI believe you should always get a bike running as fast as possible stock before messing around with anything
Dan Adams (50:1) — 15 years ago
OK, have you tried them both?on stock or kits?Which one works better? What would you charge? Is one way louder? Thanks Shay
Dan Adams (50:1) — 15 years ago
Thanks folks.Shay:What is "the stock leovinci looking one?"Is that the one pictured in your profile?if so do the pedals still spin OK?is the "one that resembles the AV7 pipe" the actual stock AV10 pipe?

Hi Bret.I know there are other AV10 tuners out there now but back when I put my project on hold Bret was the man.I am going to be finishing up with my Model 40 65cc airsal AV10 very soon now.I just need 2 pieces now but first let me explain what I want from this bike.1- I am NOT looking to do infinite tuning for optimal performance.2- I am NOT interested in winning races3- I DO NOT want to go deaf

Motor mounts, or chewed up belt. When the engine is cold grab it and pull it around while looking at the motor mounts. You will probably find that they are broken.they suck to replace. I had to build a tool and it was NO FUN.

I've got a 72cc Chappy Automatic 2 speed.Since I have had it I have thought about going from the stock 14mm mukuni to a 16mm carb.I even bought a 16mm mikuni which wont work at all (it is made for a honda I think and has a specific mounting flange)Has anyone done this? It is a pretty tight spot where the carb fits so I do not want to blindly by the wrong carb that will not fit.
