Same thing I was thinking. I have a riser for a Malossi doghouse and a 4-petal polini block. Gonna see how it all fits in that area on the top... Oh, and yeah, I forgot that Honda PA was vertical and case inducted...

Anyone try this? Pictures? Results? I know it's got to be difficult with the vertical split case, but going to try... Oh, A35 case...

Someone makes a sprocket nut with a seal pressed in. It was kind of pricey, but absolutely zero leak with 700 cc fluid. First gear holds strong to 7k+ and I usually end up blipping throttle to shift. Also relined pads similar to A3 coverage.

Mikuni VM20 has an o'ring that seals against the intake. Airsal kit comes with reed plate and gaskets for both sides, clinker and intake. Quite a few filters work (i think 38mm), I made a plate and use a Tecumseh lawn mower dry filter ($5).

Finally got my temp down... timing was the key on my build. HPI set at 1.4mm (11.7 degree, I believe).

So, I'm going to clean and weigh some more segments, rough the surface for better grip and reline again with my NAPA rubberized cork. May dermal some light grooves on the segment bonding surface to improve grip on lining. Thanks for all the input.
Dick Tortuga — 12 years ago
These were relined pads. I used NAPA rubberized cork and Devcon 4, but you are right, the segment threw it's cork as the strip was still in there. This clutch has been on since October, but I did have a piston seize 2 weeks ago due to lean jetting and downhill riding without blipping the throttle (stupid rider!). Since the motor seized and the bike continued to roll to a stop, I assume the

Okay, out with the gang, blew another first gear clutch, second in 6 months. Is there anyway to improve this design? I know, about 50% will say KTM, but that's not happening. Anything else? Note: both blew the same way with one segment exploding and breaking in half:!http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo77/SoAzRC/IMG_0009.jpg!!http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo77/SoAzRC/IMG_0010.jpg!!h

Hey, rebelmoby, I'm with Las Tortugas... We ride together in spirit... Only dropped it about a foot, but enough to snap that skirt piece. Put it back together with new cylinder and piston (bought for another motor). Thinking about maybe shortening the piston and smoothing the cylinder break edge. Got to do some measuring first. Just curious what feedback I'd get on the skirt...

My bottom cases are A3. When all was said and done, that's about all I ended up keeping. Wanted a needle bearing so I bought a crank, knew I had to change the clutches, but also need to change the right side transmission cover/case. The A35 crank is longer than the A3 and the case will not seat. If you're not changing the crank, then bottom end should be fine... a little close on the

Sounds kind of a stupid question, but I just F'd up and need some advice. Airsal 65cc on Tomos, soft seized, rings mushed over into grooves. Cylinder looked great, so I chamfered the port edges a little more, raised an eyebrow in the transfer windows to swirl charge towards exhaust, light hone and getting ready to install and DROPPED it on the only area of concrete in my garage... caught it

dedic761 - check your email. I accidently bought one of these from Mike thinking it was the one that fit the Tomos five-stars (my bad). I sent you an email and will pass it on to you for the same price Mike charges, still wrapped, and shipped to your door. In the meantime... Mike, you got any of the Tomos disks for the rear rim?
Dick Tortuga — 12 years ago
... I agree with you... if you've got the tools, everything fits! I've got Mike's disk also. It's going on a 16" Tomos rear snowflake mounted on a set of Tomos Streetmate EBR forks. I've got two set-ups: 1) Grimeca set from the streetmate and 2) Brembo set-up from a Ducati. I'm going for the Brembo first. It's just a matter of making a caliper mount bra

I put mine short ends OVER long ends. They intertwine either way and hold in place... at least in my experience...! I repadded my shoes with NAPA rubberized cork (exact thickness). Covered entire shoe area. Grooved second to grab quicker (One groove diagonal). 600 ml fluid (300 Mercon, 150 Lucas 90/145, 150 Lucas anti-slip). Shifts good, tight and between 4500-5500 depending on amount of thr

You have a long end and a short end from the tab. When you assemble, make sure the long ends are under the short ends of the one beside it. They sort of intertwine that way. SHOULD hold together that way...

Occasionally, my Vapor lights up all the baars on the screen and freezes. I simply push the mode button and it resumes reading correctly, but it is annoying. Not sure why it does it. I'm not returning it, but if there was some solution I'd like to eliminate this bug. I don't have the speedo hooked up yet, but tach and temp are awesome readouts... Here's a pic of the mount I bo

Yep, there's my unit for less than $160: http://cgi.ebay.com/AEM-Analog-Wideband-Air-Fuel-Gauge-30-5130-/270542058221?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3efd9032edI plan on doing something similar to your set-up as far as wiring... combine all the + and - and then tie to an independant 12v rechargable dry cell. Will mount in something I can strap to the bike for testing and

I was going to do the same as my Honda Ruckus big bore... 12" from the exhaust port... wherever it falls. Unless I hear better advise otherwise...

I misspoke in my original post, my unit is an AEM only, similar to the one above, but analog only model 30-5130B Uego. The kit came with sensor and wiring harness. I forget how much I paid for it on ebay... but it was new unopened from AEM Only. Nice trick above on checking sensor. I haven't done any research on what reading I should be shooting for on a 2-stroke, air-cooled. but jetting

I have a nice AGM air flow gage that I am installing temporarily on my scoot for jetting the carb. I will weld a bung 12" from the head for the O2 sensor and will plug it when I am done tuning. I have several other bungs and am thinking of welding one on my kitted Tomos. Question is: does the two stroke with oil mixture in the fuel affect gaging any differently? Anyone else use something

From the previous write-up:The windings on the coil could be tapped at the end of the factory windings and extended with more windings using the 26 gage wire. In the RS kit there is 75 feet of wire, this would theoretically bring the volts up to around 25, and with an ampacity of .8 that would bring the Watts up to 20.Wouldn't this be the perfect set-up if running a tower LED headlight and LE

I just checked my yellow wire leading from the HPI light coil and my meter isn't reading anything... Rechecked and it "looks" fine. Is there another check (like resistance) to verify it's good? What kind of reading should I get? I'm NOT electrical (duh!)... oh, and before anyone asks, yes, the engine was running when I checked for voltage...!

Piston upside down? Surprised it started at all! My A3/35 Aersal, Mikuni VM20, Tecno Estoril, Hpi CDI started 2nd kick and starts 1/2 kick since with stock set-up. Do have to crack throttle to start and NEVER choke, so some jetting issues exist. Runs great though for first starts...
