I ran too much advance on my cdi (talked about in a recent thread on polini engine temp comparisons) and never seized. This is with lots of miles (most riding for longs periods in upper 40s and mid 50s though).Added a vapor to the mix and saw my engine temp close to 400 at 60mph.Retarded the timing (lost some speed), engine temps into awesome feel good zones now.
yeah.chrome leather.costs like 10 bucks.do both clutches.same procedure.get some epoxy for the automotive store.'hose clamp.use a razor blade to cut of extra.go blast.will last longer.
everything I own is kitted, ported and gets phbgs. So, I'm not used to these little carbs anymore. However, you should jet your WOT throttle first. If you are lean then upjet.go for another ride WOT, kill it, pull over and check plug. When you get your chocolate color you should be good to go.Then use your idle and your needle to change your 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 settings as best you can.
I had hpi right when they came out.never rewrapped that sorry coil.I just found lights that worked off of the power provided.headlight was always kind of dull.Hpi was easy to time.Honestly, it's been a while now, but I switched to the treats cdi package and sold the hpi.I still blast as hard.
run a b.clean your shit up.run good premix 60:1 or less (depending on which you use).read about the typical polini problems (exhaust snag etc).be prepared to avoid shit like this.patience and you will blast.
that's why I painted my maxi panther pink.
I've got the malossi 4p, weakends pipe.I hacked the end off so I could use my phbg19.I'll take a pic tomorrow morning and upload for ya.
they make little rubber things that fill holes for when you spray it.do that. then bake it. take the rubber thing out, then put the dumb plastic cap back in.been there.done that.worked fine.
tell me about that lazer again?
If you are still new at tuning, take your time and do the researchso that you can do it right the first time.Be safe, if you kit your bike, replace the crank outright. It isn't that expensive, and you will save yourself a lot of trouble for that one day "if" your stock one decides to go.....really.kstar is easy to put on, easy to tune, and can take a beating.
what color is your plug?are you jetted correctly for the throttle range that you were riding in?
follow the phbg tuner guide. There is also a chart that shows what in your carb is doing to your bike during different throttle positions. This will help you understand how to tune it better.
timing issue. should be able to solve this. sorry
AlukitMalossi 4pphbg 19mm carbA35Tecno circuit (or whatever it is).I started real high (96) jet and have worked all the way down to 75 (the lowest I currently own). The bike is still real slow, and I maybe hit the pipe on downhill.Everything in the wiki had people in the 80s and above.Should I be startled?
Ì got that 35 t from treats with a 16 front
i have the yj1 (http://www.mopedarmy.com/photos/brand/43/8645/).Your best best (from years of searching) is going to be ebay. Lots of people from Thailand are always selling parts from these bikes. Every here and there, also, someone in the US will tear one down and then have the parts for sell as well.I have Enough parts (body and engine) for a full rebuild sitting with my bike.Haven't ever
45 degree angle is good enough. probably came out of the breather like harvey said.
make sure your bolts are in the right spots.use your sealer on both sides of the gasket.grab some red or blue loctite, put it on the bolts when you torque them in.give them the ample amount of time to dry, and they shouldn't vibrate loose.
Rode today with these results:1.1 btdc timing. Max speed 62 mph and a little leanit ran 20 degrees cooler though than the 64 mph runs (with way more advanced tuning timing).Upjet, get cooler, still blast.@ryanYou can hear your reeds when you ride, but specifically at idle sitting at a stand still (when timed right) they become really really audible. I forgot how loud they could be
Update:I've set up a bunch of these treats cdis on puchs. At first I timed them, but for most bikes full advanced was perfect.Checked my timing today, and I was too far advanced (for what I wanted).I retarded the timing a little. As a result, my reeds now chirp waaaaay more at idle (telling me how happy they are).My larger jets aren't here yet (I'm running a 98) but I could probably
give it a reset. Also, why not run your power to your lights?
yeah they work. They're too light to really cause a balance issue.
My setup:motul 800 2t at 60:1 premixed alwayspolini with some port workpolini 4 petal intake with dual layer reedsphbg 19mmsimonini pipe3 shoe clutchtreats cdiI just got a new case and case matched more (and did an overall better job) than the previous case.I have trail tech vapor (and gps to verify) that I hit 64 mph. I think I could have gone a few mph faster as well. With the old case, the pipe
How long do you ride when you hit 400?For example, I ride extended periods at these temperatures (say close to 400).So over 400 I should consider the danger zone and slow down and let things chill out you guys think?
So I have a trail tech on my e50 polini.I'm trying to figure out temperatures.I ride all day 35-50 range and don't really break 350.When I max out (65+ mph) I sometimes hit 400.What do others have, and what do they feel safe with?
saw this thread this morning, kept my eye out while I blasted around today..... only saw VIP scooters all day.no peds
Check your woodruff key like the first post said.Get some rope or a piston stop (I believe right tool for the job though).make sure your key isn't sheared, and seated right, then torque that shit down. After you do that, post results please.
make sure everything is installed right. You might have to have the choke on to start that thing.
