ok so i see that five engine zundapp in the custom pix section and i'm thinkin hey it'd be pretty pimp to custom build a v twin puch for my magnum project bike... only thing is... that type of skill is way way outta my league. any machinists/engine builders around got any tips/ideas?

ok so it is my understanding (and correct me if i am wrong) that the expansion chamber on a performance exhaust uses sound waves to create the back pressure required for proper performance. Now my thought is to take a beacon transmitter (i'm sure you can find very tuneable ones) and use the fact that they give off a predictable frequency of sound at very regular intervals to give sorta a &quo

my dream performance recipe is the leo vinci, an 80cc metrakit, and a 17mm carb. you'd be goin way more than 35 with that setup.

having had both the bi turbo and the current leo vinci on my puch cobra, there's no competition. don't get a bi turbo. they DO improve your performance but not by much and certainly aren't worth 80 bucks when the leo vinci is similarly priced.

yeah the closest thing I can think of is a 70cc jug off any yamaha dirt bike but apparently they don't make 70cc dirtbikes. Now I'm not sure about wristpin/gasket/carb jetting issues but i bet if you went to a junkyard and scavenged a good jug or talked to Ike or someone who runs a shop, you'd be able to get specific answers and suggestions that i couldn't even think of.

how specifically did you alter the rake and trail dimensions? what did you use for the front end assembly? any engine mods? all in all a great lookin mockup man can't wait to see the final assembly!

Mopedwarehouse or Ike has much much better prices!!!

go for broke and do both man

just get something better than a bi turbo

a worthwhile exhaust. having had a bi turbo on my cobra (which uses the e50 engine) and now having a leo vinci i tell ya it's on the very bottom of the performance ladder... it'll help but not by much

i'm selling nick my bi turbo to use on his qt50. really it would just be a matter of fabricating the proper mounting hardware, and bending the tube properly (you may have to weld a bit of tube onto it to make it longer) for it to fit. any muffler shop can do that easily. now whether it is actually going to give a meaningful performance boost? i dunno. the bi turbo did next to nothing for my c

tim: man that's a wicked pic of your ped in yer profile hehehematt: they're generic dude, they should fit yer bike :)

from what i've heard the one speed top end can be laid atop the two speed bottom end with minor work. you'd have to ask ChrisMWH abotu specifics though cuz that's pretty much utterly outta my league

can ya upload it here, i can't find it on my comp... also i dunno how to use it, p'raps a howto?

heheh sorry about that spelling gaffe... and yeah i am not messin with ANYTHING yet... i just have this project i am planning/researching/learning about and for... and well, I am plannin quite a bit for this ped. there's an 80cc kit i want, and i'm honestly afraid drum breaks won't cut it yanno?

i know very little about disc breaks. it was suggested to me to put a caliper onto the rear sprocket of my puch project bike (which i am not even started on yet to be honest). any other suggestions or general information about disc breaks?

ok so i was perusing 50cc.nl and under "puch cobra" they have this kit listed. anyone have any thoughts on it?

Jason: timing and compression must be good because once the bike starts it runs perfectly.don: i'm almost positive it was just flooding now. starts just fine when i let it sit for a lil while. i think there might be carb issues. i'm not a good enough mechanic to start tinkering with points though so it may be that. the gas is only 3 days old.
Josh S — 18 years ago
ok the bike runs... and when it is going it's fine. starting it is a nightmare though. i installed a spanking new champion l86c just like Larry said was factory spec'd, it's full of gas. i mixed 2.501 gallons of gas with a cup (8 oz) plus a tiny splash of oil... which is as precisely close to 40:1 as i can get. the only possible problem i can see is there's a bubble in the gas
114. :)

well now ya know. just be prepared for a bit of frustration... it's a process that gets real old real quick lol...
Josh S — 18 years ago
it depends. there's box and tube shaped filter units. the puch cobra one spd i have runs a tube shaped. if the connection is the right size you can run any box. don't remember off the top of my head what the sizes are, and if the one you are looking at is a two spd it may be a whole different ball game. that said if you get a puch running real well it's a major joy. they are in my o

your carb should have a screw with a spring on it. that's the idle screw. fiddle with it til it idles. not sure what else it could be with a clean carb new plug and good fuel flow. not sure about the variator at all, having never had a variator driven bike, could it be something with that?
Josh S — 18 years ago
not sure if the old euro puchs used the five wire system but maybe they didhttp://www.puchverkstan.se/?m=1&lang=enthis dude is your european counterpart... his emphasis is on 50's puchs. worth checking

64 ounces (1/2 gallon) at 32:1 added to 1/2 gallon of pure fuel becomes 1 gallon of 64 to 1. guess you could do it that way but my suggestion is to drain your tank and start over. just safer for your engine that way.

hey thanks larry :) how's the riding going in your neck of the woods? i can't thank you enough for selling me this thing, it's my baby now...
