which weights are you usung in the variator?
After reading some posts about the Malossi performance gearing, I went ahead and purchased a pair for my ped. I need to know, what kind of oil is used for the gearing in the rear hub? Also, where would I get it?
I will defintly check all these things out...thanks guys
I think they cost 105.00 not including shipping
I have a Vespa Grande with a new adition of a 70cc kit. Today I ran out of gas, and the reserve tank only got me like 200 feet, I think thats like 65 meters for the European pedders. Is this normal?
my variant has a pretty big air leak around the intake. i'm pretty sure it's between the reedblock and the case because it appears that one side of the crankcase has shifted slightly. i'm trying to figure out how i can fix this without taking the crankcase apart.any ideas you have will be helpful...
oops, well, i just found the wiki article...http://www.mopedarmy.com/wiki/Jawa_Thyristorstill, are there any tips you might have?will radio shack have the parts i need?thanks.i suck at electrical stuff.
I just got my first Jawa yesterday, and the previous owner says it will need a new thyristor to run.i have seen that some people know how to make these. does anyone have instructions they can share?-thanks
Do you mean taking the forks off of the body or the springs out of the forks?
What's the rule on tightening the nylon nut when mounting the engine? I'm not sure I have mine quite snug enough.
just rechecked the spark-- it was weak --shit(!). Everything seems properly grounded. Does anyone have any idea how to check the engine coils? What would produce weak spark having replaced the ignition coil and the condenser?
actually I took the exhaust off again and it has a lot of carbon deposits, but you can see straight through it. Could that alone be the issue?
81' 51v with an av7 has strong spark/ 120 psi compression/brand new Dellorto 15:15 properly jetted/ clean exhaust/ brand new coil/brand new condenser/ clean points/ good timing/ and all the love in the world. But the bitch won't run!!!!!!! any ideas??
yikes renna...sorry to hear about your ped troubles.Have you checked for spark?
Or the cable might be popped out at either end and sitting wrong in the sleeve. Check this too. Make sure it's seated properly.
Well, 2 hours searching for a post on Moped Army is my limit. I suck at finding posts though. What ever happened to Mopedlar anyway? He seems to have disappeared.
I just noticed that over the weekendI have one that says 38 and one that says 26...they look exactly the same though...
ice and whiskeyhold the ice on the burndrink the whiskey :)
I love my Vespa fly wheel puller.I used to bang the crank on a 2 by 4 until the flywheel plopped off. I never had any problems, but it's a world of anxiety I don't miss.If you do decide to do it the very dumb way (like i did) make sure you put that nut that hold the variator on, back onto the end of the crank to prevent it from smushing down. But I digress, get a puller :)
While you're at it, you should widen that intake to 13 mm if you want to get the pep your new carb has to offer. You should open the crank case to do this so that you don't get shavings inside.Best of luck!
i have a parts moby...i'll try switching out some things today (bearings, pivot stem, etc.)
Did you still have some up and down play on the pivot stem (like several mm)?
Reassembling my forks I've run into an issue where the pivot stem is jamming up when i turn it.Is it simply a matter of over tightening, or are my bearings not sitting right? It seems like the the "top cone" is already pretty loose. Then again, I really don't know how tight it is supposed to be. When I took it apart, it was only hand tight. Is there a trick to doing this? I&
yes, but if you put a kit on a moby, you're going to need to put in FAG bearings, so basically it requires a bottom end rebuild

i don't know how different they are, because I have zero experience with the AV88, but BJ has gaskets for an AV7 at Handybikes
so, essentially, twist it off?
