What should a Vespa Bravo's compression be ideally in psi? It's for a stock bike that I took apart to drill out the intake, and I just want to make sure it's together alright.-thanks

by the way, I have a #64 jet on my Bravo with a 13.13 carb, and it runs ok, but I want to try some smaller ones too.

oh, by the way...I think a 66 might be big on a stock engine. That's what I use on my 13.13, but I'm running a 70cc kit

I hear the Leo Vince Hand Made is the best. You can get them on 50cc.nl I run a Techno Racing, which I don't think was worth the money. My wife runs a Proma Circuit on her Grande, and it is really sweet.I recommend throwing down a few dollars on the Mallosi air filter. It's worth it, I think.

I honestly didn't see much improvement until I also put a decent pipe on it, but it does help a bit, I think on low end too. It's been a while since I ran the original 12:7 that came with my bike, so I honestly don't remember how great the increase was, but it's there.

no one has used the little springs in the clutch then? Their supposed to get the low end more power, i think.
Jeff — 16 years ago
The little yellow springs came with my multivar and should go onto the brake shoe type things in the clutch, but don't quite fit right.
Jeff — 16 years ago
SO, Has anyone had success with the big yellow spring or any of the smaller springs in the clutch. The small springs lack a longer hooked side that the originals have to make it fint. Also, the big yellow spring has two nubs on it that aren't on the original, should these be ground off?

If it is for a stock bike, I know for a fact that Zippy's got them.
Jeff — 16 years ago
That's a good idea...I think I'll do that.

I bought a belt for my Vespa Grande, the only 41 by 1/2 inch I could find. It says on the front that it is a general utility v-belt, and is made by Service King. The package also says, "NOT FOR USE ON CLUTCHING DRIVE" in bold on the back. Why? What does this mean? My Grande has a clutch on the drive pully. What could go wrong?

anyone have ideas on that mysterious yellow clutch spring...do you need to use the smaller springs too
Jeff — 16 years ago
Just incase anyone is interested, I was able to find a 41 inch by 1/2 inch blet on doityourself.com

cool, thanks... I just had to know if I was missing out on a oppertunity to add some power to the Bravo

I have a Vespa Bravo...50CC...I opened up the crank case to bore out the intake. In the process I ruined the gasket, and am waiting for another. Whilst I wait it is very tempting to try cutting the crank down like I did on my 70CC Grande. My wife thinks this will ruin my low end power, I honestly don't know what it will do. Has anyone ever tried this type of surgery on a stock engine? What

I ask so excitedly because I was using a 42 inch toothed belt and it was super crappy. It slipped and slapped all the friggin time. But, when I switched to the 40 inch stock belt, all of a sudden, my bike won't iddle. Everytime the back wheel stops spinning it wasts to stall out.
Jeff — 16 years ago
Sweet, then what size and where do you get these things. All I can find are the 40 inch Stock belts which I think are slightly too tight.
Jeff — 16 years ago
I think it is very important to bore out your engine and your intake. I think you'll be disappointed with the results if you don't. So, getting the better carb then is also very important. It will definitly make you a happier human being.
Jeff — 16 years ago
I need to ask, becasue I'm not sure what I read....I think you're recommending a 41 inch by 1/2 inch belt for use with the Multivar on the Grande...but is that a belt with teeth or not, and where can I buy one...

I've found that even after paying the increased shipping, ordering from europe can be cheaper. especially from Angelo Massomino. He has actually sold me parts for less and shipped for less than certain moped shops in the states. Just look him up in the moped owner's directory... in my experience he's given especially good deals on malossi parts and delorto parts, plus he is extre

I have a grande, with a 70cc malossi kit, with a 13.13 carb and and a techo racing exhaust. I find that the best jet size is actually 68. anything above 70 makes for too much fuel and not enough air, and will bog the bike down when it should keep accelerating....the grande is hard to make fast. mine does about 40. My wife's, which has exactly the same set up, does 45 or better. Go figu

Later today I think I am going to break the weld where the pipe connects to the engine, and re set it so it fits, and drill a hole in the subframe of the Grande so the pip will fit on...does this sound right or wrong? Any Tips?
Jefe — 16 years ago
I bought a techno estoril because 50cc.nl said it would fit on my Grande. Much to my shagrin it does not, but looks like a few simple mods cane make it work. Has anyone done this, seen it done, or have any advice? Any bit of info will help...thanks

I don't know...but if some one does know, I'd really like to :-)

I have a Vespa, and my brother just got a Kinetic. I'm told they're a lot alike, but how much? Do all parts that fit on a vespa fit on a Kinetic TFR? Specifically, the performance parts like air filter, exhausts, and carbs. Also, my brother hates the head light and wants to chage it to a vespa one, can that easily be done? I haven't seen the Kinetic because he likes like 9 hour

how many cc's is this?

I think I'll try a slightly larger pully, and I'll post how it turns out. With all the hills in Pittsburgh low-end is key.

I was talking about putting a bigger rear wheel pulley on my grande with some people at the rally in k-zoo and was told that if I put a bigger rear pulley on it would at to my top speed. however, i'm reading now that the rear pully takes away from top speed, but adds low end. Has anyone actually changed the pulley size? What sizes worked best?
