I’d recommend getting it. I fixed up my Sachs after it sat for thirty years. The parts were readily available from the Treats website and from the classifieds here. The whole bike including the engine is easy to work on and there is lots of info on this site and other sites if you get stuck on something.

I’m looking for a working rear brake light switch for my Sachs Suburban. My Sachs has the pedal brake for the back wheel where you pedal backwards to stop the wheel, so it needs to be the switch that works with this mechanism. Lmk what you got.

They have to tell you it’s a $15k E-ped to justify the $60 an hour rent they’re charging to rip you off!

White smoke typically means water so if it was a water cooled engine I’d say coolant is leaking into the cylinder from a cracked head or blown head gasket. With it being an air cooled engine, I’m kinda thinking you could have water in the gas. You may want to drain the fuel tank completely and then clean or replace the carburetor and see if that helps. The gas caps on those Chinese scooters are

Sounds like a clutch issue. If you take off the left side cover you’ll see the clutch pack there along with the linkage that controls it. There is a threaded adjustment stud on the linkage right in front of the clutch pack with a nut around it. If the nut comes loose the threaded stud will drive itself into the clutch pack and permanently engage the clutch (I had this happen on my sachs). Try l

The original post above is from 2004....lol! Good reminder though for us Sachs folks about what type of oil to use in the gearbox/clutch. I’ve been using type F auto trans fluid in mine without any issues.

That Tomos looks newer than ‘94 based on the decals it has, maybe late-‘90’s. The parts it looks to be missing are minor and easily sourced but do add up. I don’t see the speedometer there so you don’t know the true miles, that would be my biggest issue because that ped with high miles on it is worthless.

I picked up a Chinese scooter that didn’t run to fix and flip, got it running over the winter. They’re simple machines, it’s most likely the carb, the cdi, or the valves need adjustment. In my case the cdi was bad. I would highly recommend getting it running and then just sell it. Any Chinese moped is junk, you’ll literally be fixing something that will leave you stranded weekly. Go out and b

I live in MA, all you need is a bill of sale from the seller (or a friend, or whoever) with vin number, and there is a form you need to fill out that you can print off the dmv website. You also need $40. Go to the registry with that stuff and they’ll give you a moped license plate that’s good for two years.

If it has ignition points try adjusting the gap on those first before replacing the condenser. Those things get out of adjustment frequently, they also get corroded if the engine hasn’t run in awhile so cleaning with fine sandpaper or file may help.

Greyhound bus lines will ship anything up to 100 pounds and 75” length so that could be an option. Their prices were pretty reasonable for a few large car parts I shipped. You just wrap whatever you’re shipping in bubble wrap and they put it on the bottom of the bus where the luggage goes. Seems like you could ship mopeds and moped parts this way pretty easily. If there’s any weight issues you

I drove a five hour round trip to pick up my Sachs. I was looking for a German moped at the time and it was the closest thing to me!

I’m looking for a Tomos ignition CDI for my ‘99 Tomos targa like the one in the picture I attached. It’s for an A35 without points. I’d buy a new one but they’re pricey with shipping so if someone has a working one message me.

I can’t imagine there is anything better than having a 3 or 4 year old moped where all you need to do is replace the spark plug to get it going again, I’m super jealous.

Could be the ignition points, my Sachs was dying at idle and I adjusted the points and it was fine after that.

Never heard of DKW so I googled it and apparently this company is one of the four companies that originally formed Audi, and is represented as one of the four rings in the Audi logo....I thought that was interesting. Nice bike by the way!

That’s awful, at least nobody got hurt and the telephone poll didn’t burn down with it. Good luck with the rebuild.

Dude has said more than once speed isn’t a major concern for the bike, I don’t think he’s looking to mod it. If he can get it for $200-$250 and it needs minor repairs it’s a good pri

I have a 1980 Sachs Suburban I picked up a year ago that hadn’t run in close to thirty years. It needed a lot but I was able to find most parts new or used between this forum and the Treats parts website. If you get stuck on something there is a wealth of Sachs knowledge from people here that can help. I found the bike easy to work on and was able to get it running and driving easily. It is s

My wife would never go for this, I can’t imagine the look on her face if I came home with over 30 mopeds....having just one rolls her eyes! Good luck to the brave sole who buys this guy’s mess...

You need to get a truck, that’s the best way to transport mopeds. Actually since I’ve gotten a truck, I’ve picked up all sorts of things I absolutely don’t need!

As the title states, new old stock Columbia Commuter moped on Craigslist in Massachusetts with 3 miles. It’s not mine and I don’t know the seller (so don’t contact me about it), I just saw it and thought I’d pass it along to the community here. Not sure I’d pay the guys asking price for it but it’s definitely in amazing condition!https://worcester.craigslist.org/atq/d/princeton-vintage-columbia-
