Sorry to go low-brow here - but Curious if anyone has any experience with the IceBear Rocket 50cc moped? My son is going to have to lock it outdoors at College - so we need something reasonably reliable, affordable, that will be safe in city traffic, and that wont break our heart when it gets kicked over by some jerk...At around $700 - this looks like a decent moped?
He paid $525 (and I've put another $80 plus in parts) - so we would like to get $550 - but I'm sure the group on this site will tell me if that is realistic or not...Thanks for looking.
where are you located Austin?
My son bought a running Batavus HS50 with hopes that he could use it to get around campus at college. The bottom line is that it's cool and runs well - but is just too slow for a guy is size to safely move in traffic so we are looking to sell it.Located in Louisville KY. Plenty of pictures available. The good:* New Tires front and back (after a lot of looking - I found a 2 1/4 inch for the r
What kind of top speed do these have with a 180-ish lb rider?Do you have any interest in a Batavus HS50 / 1978 - running / new tires - but underpowered for me. (Lights and horn not working - but I plan to work on those soon)
Thanks guys. Tube worked for me!!!I appreciate all the guidance.
THANKS Slew Foot!I found a 16" x 2" tire - removed the 2.25" one tonight - but found that the innertube is also 2.25".I assume it's critical that I get a 2" innertube and am going to get one tomorrow (though if I'm wrong - please speak up)...
Still working on my 1978 Batavus HS50.Can I install a new LED rear / brake light on this thing to make it more visible? The one I'm considering is :https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M0HRQ1G/

So am i wasting my time thinking that I can add links to the chains and move the tire back enough for it to work?
The tire is rubbing the frame. Now I see it is 2.25” not the 2” that is ideal. Will add a link to the chain. Thanks!
Recently bought a Batavus HS50.I see that you are supposed to clean the needle bearings, but can't find any video or pictures and I'm afraid of taking anything apart and guessing...I'd appreciate any detailed guidance you can offer! Thanks in advance.Kevin
Just bought a new to us 1978 Batavus HS50 for my son and it was running when he tested it. He drained the gas and threw it in the back of his outback and when we got home we can't get it going. The engine starts and runs - however it is clear that either the back wheel or the pedals have something holding them back.I disconnected the rear brake cable / that isn't it.Suggestions???
