OP, I PMd you. No response?

OK, so basically you are running the motor with no trans. Seems funny to refer to as top and bottom as the tranny is on the side. LOL.I have two Maxis. One runs and sounds pretty good. The other runs OK, but it makes a lot of noise. I'm guessing it is bearings, because I changed the pucks and and tranny fluid. Whoever had it treated it bad. It was like mud coming out. So, if I

Thanks for the advice. This particular one is pretty rough. But I have two other motors to dig into. They are both running, so more reticent to disassemble. Was hoping to use this spare as a rebuild but its not as nice shape as I had hoped and was missing ignition bits and the first gear roller bearings and retainer. Seems there are different size retainers too, so I'm not even sure wh

Thanks folks. I'll do some poking around and see what I can find.

I'm doing a ZA50 rebuild, but I can not locate shims to properly tolerance the trans side. Can anyone recommend a good source?

Hi Folks, want to order a new crankshaft for ZA50 rebuild. Treats says 9.5mm clutch bell ID = V1 small, 10.5mm clutch bell ID=V2 large. Mine is 10mm right on the nose!? Which is right, or is there a third variation?Help is appreciated!

I just put a ZA50 back together, similar to you. I'm getting a similar but much more pronounced whine in both first and second gear when moving. It seems to be running and shifting OK, but it is definitely more noisy than my other Maxi that is nearly identical. I'll post some video/sound tomorrow. THis Puch was not taken care of, so I'm thinking it may be bearings. A rebu

I just got a set of the 3D Printed Switch bases from treats. No more busted switch mounts and they seem to work great. Is there anyone out there that could make, print, a stock looking Speedo case for the smaller VDO 45mph speedometers that are out there. I got one of ebay and was disappointed it's too small for the stock case.

Cool stuff. I'm a 56 year old, reliving my 15 year old self. Great restore on the Puch. I got the same model, year, color I bought new at 15. 78 Puch Maxi Sport in pearl green. Course, they are like chips, so I had to get a second, so I have a matching 80, so friends and family can join me. Working on restoring them both to good operation. No fancy paint jobs at this point. OK, there are a HORSE load of posts about the Puch Polini Kit and MAKING SURE you GAP THE RING RIGHT.But, there are few posts where good numbers are given. The most frequent numbers I'm seeing are .010 to .012, but the posts don't say if that is inches or mm. I could find nothing in the manual that came with the kit. No videos (at least in English) on dong the Ring Gap procedure on this

Get some X-Rays and a good lawyer. You may find you did more damage than you thought. Get your neck and back checked well. Some of the damage may not show up as symptoms till months later. OK, after MUCH debate, I pulled the trigger on the Polini kit with a large selection of jets, while the sale was going at treats. Now I have to find or make an intake that will work with my ZA50. Guess it's time to use my new to be found welding and fabrication skillz. LOL. That's part of the fun. This will be my motivation for my spare ZA50 rebuild over the winter. Hoping I did n
