Fort pierce, checking in.
Ok thanks graham. I’m gonna get some. Any idea around how many miles your getting out of that material?
I relined with some napa cork on my 2nd cause it was local and needed to get my bike rolling. Super easy but without knowing any better definitely want to try something more robust. Graham would you have the link to that McMaster Carr material not sure which version works the best, thanks.
I like the estoril but want a top end pipe heard the homoet was decent quality. Hope anything will be a touch better than the biturbo. I have a couple hundred miles on the bike since I slapped it together gonna check the shoes @300 miles. Anyone know if treats is going to bring back the jammers? I got a clanking at idle I guess it’s clutch rattling
Finally got my beat to shit tomos running good after sorting out a tranny problem and an bad magneto. Kinda went overboard buying shit for it along the way.AlukitStuffed crankA55 ignition w Parma coilPuch Hi comp headVm20Mlm intakeNew single peddle reeds28x22 gearsRunning smooth good acceleration, top speed 51mph. Highest head temp I’ve seen was 300 on my vapor. Still running the biturbo that was
Finally got all my parts in, new a55 cdi with Parma coil, new stuffed crank, seals and bearings, clutch one way bearing, new sprag spring. On top of the the alukit and vm20 carb I recently threw at it. Well got it all slapped together and it runs! Runs pretty dam good at that. Just put the magneto halfway between full advance and retard marks. Transmission issue is gone no more pedal kickback. Wis
Yeah definitely been a project to say the least. Since my last post I discovered my crankshaft taper where the magneto sits was severely chewed up I’m assuming from electrolysis or bad connection. So got a new one on the way along with new bearings and seals, a55 ignition w/ Parma coil. If I can get it all installed tight with no leaks I’m hoping it will be right. Have a tranny issue aswell to top
No didn’t force anything bike did this when I got it. I will post some pics of it, currently assembled for the 4th time lol. Is there a specific way that claw collar gear faces? Seems the same both sides. Sorry lost me what rear hub? Also the bike doesn’t really like rolling backwards running or not.
A little update to this issue I have. So after replacing the one way needle bearing in the clutch segment, that didn’t solve the issue. Tried new shims on pedal shaft and the outside cup and spring which eliminated my play, That didn’t help. Reassembled trans tilted over to really make sure peanut spring clip thing stayed in place. Have a new clutch hub because I fucked up my old one getting the o
Yeah dude I bought it from was running it without a flywheel cover. Maybe a rock. Am I going to need a timing light to get it right? I never set timing before
I don’t know what caused it. I don’t see any missing screws. Would that kit I posted a link to above be my best option? On a properly functioning engine would it be a upgrade with the ignition curve? Will I have to set the timing ?
No I didn’t change the seals. Didn’t seam to be leaking though.Would this kit be a good choice as a replacement?https://www.treatland.tv/tomos-A3-A35-and-A55-complete-OEM-cdi-plus-many-f-p/tomos-cdi-rehab-performance.htm
Bought this Tomos A35 had mods on it pretty beat up ran but shitty would bog and hesitate and four stroke at least it seemed all at once. Would occasionally fall into place and run up to 45mph but struggle on the way. So I got a new carb vm20. Intake, reeds, alukit, gaskets etc. throwing these parts at it thinking one would eventually get it right, it pretty much is doing the same thing. I also sw
It cleaned up good. But ordered a alukit from treats think it was less than a hundred bucks with the current sale. Got 2 bikes with A35s so I’ll put the old one on the other bike eventually. Just want to get this thing running. Butchered my clutch Bell trying to beat out the one way bearing and brass sleeve. Got it out but warped the shit outta it. So gotta wait on parts for that now. Sucks.
Ok I tried cleaning the piston up the top ring was so baked into the groove I ended up snapping it, guess Ill Probably order some new rings and a piston. Can you put a new piston in a used cylinder?
I used Walmart synthetic. But I just got the bike recently and was already beat down pretty good when I got it.
Just took apart my recently acquired A35 not sure what it is maybe alu? It’s 44mm though. Bike was running like shit tried 2 differnt carbs no difference. No obvious air leaks so figured I’d tear it down and found this. Top ring is kinda smashed in nor springing out and as you can see the carbon on the piston. Opinions? Cylinder looks pretty good no scoring light cross hatch pattern. Thanks in adv
Got a couple used older A35 bikes that were modded and pretty beat, as I’m learning more about this seems I’m constantly troubleshooting transmission issues or air leaks, low compression exc. I’m in to deep now but having fun screwing around with these little fuckers. Thinking if I could start off with a decent running bottom end then build on that It might go smoother. Or at least having a spare
Thanks, Yes I am missing that cup/spring on the outside. Hopefully the issue? Also had a seized counter shaft bearing on the cover.
Just dug into the transmission. All the gears seem to be ok and clutch shoes seem good too. One thing I noticed before I started disassembling was the pedal shaft had a good amount of horizontal play about half an inch. Is it possible there’s shims missing there and allowing the gear to catch somehow and causing the pedals to catch violently as described?
Haven’t poped the cover off yet, I will tonight and check out the areas you pointed out. Thanks graham
On occasion almost immediately after stating on the stand, my new to me a35 will violently catch the pedal crank and make a terrible medal clanking noise while it spins before I shut it down. Couldn’t find any info on it or maybe just not describing it proper.
