So if anyone's ever read my posts before, I brought a QT50 back from the dead slowly and painfully. Now I'm at the point where the instrument cluster three position switch is annoying the crap out of me.Lately it's been throwing the oil light up but I'm not sure if that's some kind of issue, like keyhole guts touching contacts because it's so messed up?. //Could also
I'm having trouble finding OEM relay online. Is there any alternative for a QT50?
I'm trying to find a compatible three position switch that I can insert into the QT50 Key spot. Most of the offerings for original equipment are two position switches. I'm not sure what it would require to downgrade to a 2 position switch.I saw a three position switch on eBay but the guy wants a hundred and twenty bucks for it. Damn...I might end up having to just put a kill switch on the
Looking for some kind of help involving why my blinkers aren't flashing.I am restoring a once blue QT50.I wanted to repaint it the color my girlfriend chose for it.I had to take off most of the parts to do this. I don't recommend this for the weak at all.Only have two actual problems left. One of them is finding a good three position switch so it can remain vintage. I know I can put a ki
I was just at a Dunham's Sports yesterday and found some of those add-on plastic fenders that don't look too generic for a 26in mountain bike.Five bucks! Clearance!I just put them on my e-bike I finally got done. These seem like they would work for a QT50 with some adjustment and modding. In case you're thinking about using those tires
My reply is above. It's been awhile since I've been in the Forum
I am aware of the IRC Tire rub issue.I had these type of tires on my 79 QT50. I had to put extenders at the connectors for the fender on the front and had to make a custom fender for the rear, out of a broken plactic motorcycle saddlebag lid. This time around, I at least have an original rear fender that is going to get modified or replicated.Thank you for your clarification on the tubes. And thank
You don't happen to be in Wisconsin at all do you? Sometimes you don't need to rebuild the inside..If it won't start, please describe what's happening. Maybe all of us could help you
I found some decent IRC NR 77 70/90 tires and some tubes on eBay. I have read that tubes can be off by a bit...Aaaand....I don't fully inderstand the wiki for this.Did I get the correct tubes? It says "60/100-14 2.25/2.50-14 Tire Inner Tube fr 50cc 70 90 110 125 150cc Dirt Pit Bike" for the tubes.See pics attached
Friggin motorized bike partsLol
I would like to thank you all for the help.I got it running!Problems fixed:Dirty variatorPartially clogged exhaust pipe (heated and drained) (goddamn regular 2 stroke oil)Gummed up throttle cableBad sparkplugAir leak at the bystarter (o ring)Faulty airboxThe airbox made all the difference!Sold her for $200, only took out $20, on this
Glad you had an easy fix with that.Ive done that once or twice.Dont forget to clean the brakes & hub! Hub rust/dirty or glazed pads are like oil at 10mph!I found decent brakepads on eBay.Happy riding, man!
My girlfriend discovered that her 84 QT50 was bogging today. It was all from the cable junction that the throttle cable comes from. I feel like it was restricting movement for the cable just enough, so it bogged.I need to lube all of the cable points to be sure this will maintain proper working order.I moved the junction to a loose area and wired it there. It revs so well now. Also, check the screw
Lol. Yes, that would indeed work
You can find a QT50 manual online, for free.I couldnt tell you what an original one looked like, just that mine was hacked to use this as it was getting reworked as a pit bike when I bought it.The cdi finally went, so I got a new cdi off of Amazon
Glad you guys were here to help
Bend it! These babies can take the steess better if you heat before bending.I had to do this to an 84 QT50.Heated the neck, slid a bigger pipe over it and wailed on it with a sledge hammer.
You should be able to get used or rebuilt wire harnesses on eBay. I was going to do this to my hacked 79 QT50, but then sold it to a needy family member. What you have happening does seem like a relay or a dirty electrical contact is to blame.Oil soaked wires will short out, too
Great progress!Glad you got a bit dealt with.
It was the CDI! got it running again
Use synthetic 2 stroke oil for sure.If you bought a clone carb, be warned. Some of them have the wrong size jets. You probably need to do another cleaning to that carb. Also, be sure itys not pulling in air at the intake.Find an air filter that fits the carb.Go for a mini bike or pit bike type. Original air filter is notorious for being faulty. If you have an original petcock fuel valve, check that i
Hell yes! Get that hopper running and enjoy the 25 mph freedom!!!!!
I got this good quality set that has 8, 2-3mm wide, 4 inch long rods that remove from the handle. Pretty sure it was intended for pc repair but one of them fits the pilot screw perfectly.Be careful of the cheap jewelers screwdriver sets.Ive had them break, midway through the jet removal on similar carburetors
I definitely gotta help you. Get a very thin peice of welding wire or guitar string.Sounds like the finicky bottom chamber jets are plugged. The ones in the float bowl are not always "cleaned" with carb cleaner spray can pressure or even cleaned through soaking. These jets and the main jet, with the little tube next to it clog easily as well. You can also use a wire twist tie.Take your t
Good on the QT50 diagram too. Found a manual online. Then I found one in French and English, set side by side as the manual layout.Printed both out.
Thanks for that info.I did luck out and it appears to be exactly like the one posted here. The pic I took and the one thats on my QT50 are different but the picture in the response from you shows to be likely the exact one thats on my moped. Has that depression.I figured that my dead one and this spare werent much different. It was supplied when I got this. I assumed it was for resource purposes
I found one on Amazon! Thanks guys!Hope this is why my QT50 won't start!I NEED MY SPARK
Wonder if somebody can help me figure out what this is. This is hooked up to my 1979 QT50. QT50 no longer supplies spark.I've changed stator coil to a PW50 coil.I've even flipped it like you're supposed to..I've changed ignition coil, spark plug and everything else. This little black box has to be the only thing stopping spark as it is hooked up to ignition coil then into stato
I have a question.I have a stock zeda 80, says Zeda-80 on crank. This seller on Amazon says theirs will fit.BGF is the seller.I need somebody who knows the answer to this cuz I don't want to throw my money at somebody who doesn't seem sure it will fit or not.check my second picture here
This might explain why my 79 accels way faster than the 84 my girlfriend has. They both top out around the same. The 84 is still original, wiring harness only disconnected at the moment.I assume that this is needed? Hers has the gray aluminum box that it came with.Mine just has this weird box.
