OK guys, thanks for your input, but before i went out this morning, i thought i would look inside the silencer, took out the metal tube thing with 2 1/4 holes running through it, a bit of carbon build up, in these 2 tubes, cleaned them out with a drill. hardly a half teaspoon of soot type carbon came out, cleaned all the bits. put back. not expecting any change on performance,WELL, it went like

it lacks pulling power, at the moment, new spark plug, carb cleaned, starts very very easy now, ordered new clutch or drive shoes jawa call them, they look a bit cracked like to much heat, but still plenty of meat on them, does not over rev, like you would expect from a slipping clutch. raised the carb needle one notch, may be getting to much air from a leak somewhere, i have fitted an nt 49cc c

looked up different ideas on you tube, you would not believe the crazy prices, for a simple device, one was $200 dollars. The home made ones, are interesting. i guy was using a rubber ring on the end of the throttle to act as friction, it worked. overnighti was thinking about this, and came up with my own idea. go to a cycle shop, and ask for a scrap bicycle tube, 1/3/8 inch i found an old one in

finely got the bike to run, i bought a used stator with the lighting coils, at first would not spark, changed things around, my old lighting coils, with the used stator, which had a tatty pulse coil, soldered the red and yellow wire, then connected to the thryristor with the built in coil, still no spark, played around with the cut out switch wires, earth connections, suddenly it sparked at the p

well here i am again. still no spark. i found a used 210 stator with all coils and wiring loom on e bay, supposed to be working, had much thicker coils than mine, in fact twice the thickness. fitted ok. would not show a spark, changed all the coils and exciter from it on to my new stator coil with the new pulse or pick up coil. still no spark. Looks like i may have to send the engine to jawa to s

update on previous replies, fitted new stator, new ht lead, new plug, new thyristor, with built in coil ect. and it totally refuses to spark of any kind. re did the timing as the new stator has no timing mark, all seems correct as the manual says, so what am i missing??I have found a good video on you tube, for all jawa 210 owners. check this out, very interesting, unfortunately in hungarian, cou

morning all. well tried cold start, nothing, so i thought i would remove the stator, was worried about doing this, with all the wires coming out of it.was surprisingly easy, nothing to it. looked at the pick up coil, and it was corroded and rusty. cleaned it up a bit. put back to test, to see if it would now spark, still dead. so have ordered a new stator ring from jawaparts .com 12.30 euros plus

hi,all. finely got the bike to fire, after 2 weeks, used an electric drill to spin the stator. to check the plug for a spark, good spark, i thought great, re checked the wires, soldered some wires, to cut out switch, using the new thyristor with the built in coil.but it won,t stay running, stopped and started 2 or three times, revs fine. then died. took the plug out, rested against the head, used

i used the word cdi, as when i came to spell the word thyristor, could not remember how to spell it, so i cheated and wrote cdi, as i said it is the 3 blade with the built in coil. does not need a separate coil. look it up on jawaparts.comI think it is the sender coil. or ign. pole jawa calls it. i found some very good details on youtube, by an indian guy, easy drawings, sketches. but translati

hi, i have a similar starting problem. look up under general discussion, ie jawa 210 49cc 2 sroke. mine just died on me, when it got difficult to start, after leaving it for an hour. i also give it a a tear drop of easy start, starts instantly. i fitted an nt 49cc carb. drilled a small hole about 1/4 inch, just to the right of the filter, found a rubber plug. to push in the hole. quick and easy, f

went out for a ride on last friday. bike going well, no problems for ages, suddenly it died on me, thought it was petrol as i new it was close to the reserve point, nope. would not start, checked carb, jets, all clear. totally dead. seems to be no spark but could no see one, pushed. and free wheeled all the way home 5 miles. phew!next day checked a few things, fitted a new cdi unit with the built

this is an update, could not find my last details on the repair forum, someone tell me how to get the section to show up. How ever it turns out that the standard off the shelf whell bearings 28x12x 8mm are useless. the centre whole is far to big, makes a sloppy fit on the axle shaft.i ordered the correct bearings from jawa, open type no seals so you can get grease in. but the main thing is the ce

morning frank. well that is very strange. look up this site, a lot of info.https://simplybearings.co.uk lots of bearings, take note of how they describe the bearings. ie fag 6001 c3 open deep groove bearing, clearance c3 i thought WOW! this is the id of the bearing. but no, is the the amount of play in the ball bearings in the race, and determines side movement, they have choices of c2,c3,and c

high frank. yes all spacers where in and correct, i think i have found the problem. those new bearings where useless. just taken the wheel off, and the amount of wobble in the bearings after only 25 miles is unbelievable. i looked at the old original bearing i took out and it is a much tighter fit on the axle and does not wobble about, in fact better than the new ones i fitted, the treatland axle

high frank, the latest news, got the new bearings, fitted them, and managed to get an extra bearing in on the 18 tooth chain pedal side, ie the left. not a press fit as thr hub is bored out slightly larger at that point, but still a nice fit. locktite would be safer to secure it, a found a spring washer, 11 mm hole same as the spindle, and outer dia same as the center of the bearing, had to flatt

still waiting for new bearings to arrive and new rear brake shoes, i tried it out with the old bearings, to see if i could tighten the spindle nuts without it locking up, yes, was pretty good, but after a 30 mile ride, got home tried the wheel side play, very bad, but they where old bearings, surprised how much the wheel freed up, as it was looking and feeling pretty good when i set off.i have te

high frank, i am using standard jawa silencer and pipe. the intake pipe was the normal jawa 210, but as i said i had to make a thicker gasket where it bolts down to the cylinder, as the carb bowl was hitting the top of the cylinder and would not bolt down, going well now for months, carb was only approx £6.50 on e bay. parts easy to get, considering a larger main jet, to see if it gives more pok

ps, i am using a standard nt carb with the standard 49cc 2 stroke jets, much simpler than the jawa carb. also opened up the ports to get more air, and smooth out the flow. the carb is a bit more noisy than the original. more motorcycle sound. but simple choke system, and better performance, but had to make thicker gaskets for the manifold to top of cylinder as it would not reach, i seem to remembe

morning frank. i don,t have gps, but the speedo needle goes off the the clock, way past the 60 kilometer mark on the speedo. can,r remember where i did it, will take note for next time. i was just keeping up with traffic, and trying to get out of the way, some days if weather calm it just takes off, has it,s moods, But i am using a 13 tooth main drive sprocket with the standard 51 tooth rear spro

ok caught up with you, did not read your reply, to this, well i seem to have all the spacers in the correct place, will check the diameter of the spindle with a micrometer when i take it to pieces, it seems to have a a good fit, on certain positions when i spin the wheel, as if the spindle or shaft is oval, thats what it feels like, but the side play is 1/4 of an inch movement. it seems it wants a

can you update me frank, as to the previous post you are referring to, if it was the starting problem, ie starting drive shoes, as i said on various posts. it was the shoes where not moulded correctly and where not closing far enough in the drum to clear. and was grabbing to early, i had to file a lot off the inside of the shoes to get them to clear, took a lot of figuring out. bike going well. ge

just ordered a new universal spindle with all spacers, sealed bearing kit they call it, 190mm long 12mm shaft size, has anyone tried this set up, from lucky 2 strokes???? hope it will be a better fit than the original one. let me know if it will remove my side play. blackhawk

new bearings fitted, but still huge amount of play when holding wheel, to check for play. is it a fault of the spacers, or the poor fit in the bearings, when spindle put through the bearings, i would have thought the spindle should be a tap through fit. nowhere near that, would not pass any m.o.t test as it is. ONE can see the wheel moving on the outside of the wheel on the spindle. i think th

i recomend a 49cc nt 2 stroke carb, works better than the jawa, much simpler, choke system, more air in, faster mine does 40mph plus if no head wind. but you have to make a thicker gasket for the manifold, ie that fits the carb on to the cylinder head, or the bottom of the carb float will not clear the head, also do a bit of porting, ie file the intake ports to get smoother air flow, no sharp edg

update starter shoes with leather pads still going strong, just fitted a nt 2 stroke carb, had to modify the intake manifold i had, was fitted to a 49cc huasheng, bit of work, the problem was the base of the nt carb would not clear the engine cylinder, had to make a thicker gasket for the manifold to raise it up up from the engine to clear it by just the thickness of a beer can shim, still it wor

hi everyone, after all my troubles, bike now running reliably, update, fitted a new 13 tooth drive sprocket to my jawa single speed economy, climbs most hills and steepish gradients now, not as fast as i would like, but one has to compromise. big news, i thought i would try and modify and make my own starter shoes, from the original ones that came with the bike, i removed what was left of the cont

hi all. well i am using 40/1 halfords part synthetic oil. goes and starts easily. have a wing mirror, cleaned the silencer, upped the carb needle one notch. recently changed the drive sprocket to 15 teeth, awsome on the level, speedo off the clock. approx 40mph easily keeps up with traffic, they could not pass me, within city limits, ie 30mph. but too good to any use all round, would not climb mos

where to get 1/2 wide lining material, for a jawa 210 economy, single speed, i want to use the original machined shoes, not the poor laminated ones??

bogging down on take off, a bit to slow, getting in the way of following traffic, they don,t give us a chance at the best of times, one needs a super bike for a fast take off. do i need more fuel or another carb for more guts, also what clutch spring tension for a quicker take off, i have the black springs at the moment, have some red, and a set of white ones, the bike is 210 jawa economy automa
