I cleaned the gas tank on my Cimatti City Bike but I still get enough residual particles to clog my carb after running it for awhile so I am looking for a cleanable Inline Fuel Filter so that all I have to clean is the filter not the carb till all the debris is gone. Any thoughts on which one works well?Jeff

I’m looking for a crankshaft and or parts for my 1978 G2.

Does anyone know the model number of this coil? I pulled it off my 78 G2 Benelli, I don’t think it’s working. I’m getting voltage to this coil, but nothing st the plug. Even the the headlight glows when I crank it over.

To be honest I don’t have much money tied up in my collection, all together I’m at about $1000 for 3 mopeds, special tools and parts needed to repair the first 2.Around here it’s not easy finding what I find affordable project bikes. There either really, really rough for more then I would pay or pretty much already built for $800-$1000.

Amen too that. Hours pass when I’m working on my mopeds.

Question: How many Mopeds do you need?Answer: One more!!!!

Maybe its my age, but I always find it sad when the human element is taken out of building something.

Just 5 months ago I thought it might be fun to relive a memory from the past and find a 70’s moped. Not being sure if this was a passing phase or new hobby I decided to find one that needed some work this would give me a project as well as keep the cost down.Well here it is 5 months later and I have 3 of those darn mopeds, a 80 Puch a 78 Cimatti that I took for its first cruise today, poor bike sa

When I purchased my 78’ Benelli G2 one of the extras that came with it was this motor, does anyone have any idea what it is. It has a Dansi ignition and a kick start.
Jeff Hiatt` — 4 years ago
The spare is not complete and I think the previous owner was planning on swapping the crank from the spare into the existing motor on the bike, but though they look similar they are not identical motors so if no other solution presents itself I my just pull the motors apart and find out. Anyway I do enjoy a challenge.

Well I purchased the Benelli, the tank is spotless has good compression and the speedometer works but when pulled the flywheel cover the threaded end of the crank was broken off. Though the key and enough crank is available to slide the flywheel on and should allow me to get a spark going. Any ideas on repairing the crank or just look for another. The purchase did include a bunch of spare parts. In

I have any opportunity to purchase a 78’ Benelli G2 in $200 range. The ad I said that it ran when he bought it but had not found the time work on it. Having brought a 80’ Puch and a 78’ Cimatti back to life, the Puch was easy the Cimatti was a rebuild, I know what to look for and what to expect but I’m not familiar with part availability and reliability of this brand so any info would be nice. I’m rebuilding a Minarelli V1 motor and being a two stroke novice I was wondering how the crankshaft and rod bearings stay lubricated, with the case split it looks like the area where the crank sits is sealed off from the tranny/clutch oil.I’m rebuilding this motor due to the major amounts of oil that filled the combustion chamber when cranking it over, I assumed the crank seal on the clutch side

I had to cut my Clutch Lever Cable to remove the Transmission cover and was wondering since the cable cover is fine can I just replace the actual cable and if so where would I find metal cable.
Jeff Hiatt` — 4 years ago
Do you have to split the case open to replace the transmission side crank seal?

I’m already on it and actually very excited, my other bike a 80 Puch Maxi didn’t really need any major work which was disappointing in a way because I was looking for something to rebuild I’m sure that sounds odd.

Not running at this time. When I say there is oil in the chamber I mean "oil" not fuel/oil mix, I'm sure it's tranny oil. I did drain and fill the tranny oil before starting and it sure looks like what I'm finding on the plug.

I’m getting too much oil on the plug to fire up. It literally spurts out the plug hole when I turn it over however I noticed that when I leave the plus out and turn the motor over with a drill the oil stops coming out after awhile, but if I put the plug back in and turn it over, causing compression in the chamber then remove the plug there is large amounts of oil, so I think that when the chamber

I’m trying to reanimate a 1978 Cimatti City Bike from the grave, I have good spark and the the carb though in need of clean seems to function, but I’m getting oil coming out of the piston chamber so I’m assuming faulty piston rings. Is it possible to change the rings with the motor attached to the bike? If this is possible I would like to start there before a total tear down.

Update on my Cimatti after some research it looks like I have 2 HP 30 MPH motor. According to Myron's Moped guide on the City Bike there are 3 motors that were available: 1 HP 20 mph with 9 Tooth sprocket, 1.5 HP 25 MPH with 10 Tooth Sprocket and a 2 HP 30 MPH 11 Tooth sprocket and my little Italian Beauty has "11" Teeth. So I'm pretty excited about that.So far I have changed

What kind of fluid is recommended for this transmission and how much?

Unfortunately the plug boot did not come with the bike and I think the wire is abit short.
Jeff Hiatt` — 4 years ago
Does anybody know where I can find one of these with the spark plug boot as mine was cut.Or part number would help, it’s from my City Bike I’m working on.
Jeff Hiatt` — 4 years ago
Yes it has the “Secret Toggle Switch” as Myron’s Moped describes it.
