That’s right de-Solder that bit of copper from the coil and attach a new wire to it that is called floating the coil. Then you tie both wires into both yellow wires on the TT reg/rec.

I’ve run a similar setup with success.Yellow coil2041 boxUse the original ignition coil as 12v light coilSolder additional wire to the light coil to connect to both yellow leads on TT reg/recI’m using the same battery.Replace original headlight with Led equivalent. Not sure if you’d be interested in this fan delete stock cylinder. Tried kicking it over once and tiny piece of needle bearing gouged the piston. The cylinder looks like it’s in great shape the piston might even work as the rings suffered no damage.50 bucks shipped

Depending on what model you have you may be able to gain more top speed. Start with the basics. Clean the carb, throw a new spark plug in there and clean the points. You may see some improvement in overall performance.
