Thanks Nathan and Pat Splat for info on how to change out seals! I appreciate your help and sharing your technique!Thank you everyone else who took the time chimed in on this thread.

That's a weird thing to say... but thanks for the input PatSplat. You come off as a nice guy who knows his mopeds.I'll keep an eye on it. Was thinking it was just carb cleaner overspray, but I am new to moped repair.. and we all know, a novice = dense fart face.I'll err on the side of caution here. I'll drop the engine and get a closer look this week.

Here’s running 69 jet w/ stock pipe + airbox. WOT up and down the road a few times for plug chop. Had a little backfire (?) at the end but otherwise ran pretty good. Am I at a pretty good baseline? I don’t think the case seals are an issue at this point.Goal with this bike is a good low end pipe, mlm intake and a better air filter. Not trying to kit it. Just a hilly neighborhood ripper.

I went from a 73 down to a 61 and had the same problem down the range. Bogging while giving it gas. Video is with 61 jet, spraying for leaks and 2nd half is when I give it throttle

Thanks for the link Nate. Says I should be running a 77 Main jet and a 0 idle jet.Does idle jet refer to turns on idle screw on bing?

Jay & massboy thanks for the info about points. Rubber bumper thing wasn't hitting the cam lobe. I must not have tightened it down all the way and it slipped to the left.Put in a 60 jet and a 2.17 atomizer, replaced head gasket and tightened head down "moped tight"and it's running... like crap. I know I need a torque wrench to get it to spec, but that is "whatever fo

Lost spark so check points…Points won’t stay open to set gap now they just snap right shut. Loosen points, insert feeler gauge, tighten points, snap shut. Doing this at or slightly before TDC and flywheel on etc. Not sure what happened here, I had spark yesterday when I wrapped everything up… I must have goblins in my shed?Any info on a fix for this points issue appreciated

Thanks for the input Mike. I appreciate the air filter tip. I put the 50cc kit on because the stock head was stripped at the plug and I didn’t want to add learning to re-tap it to my list of things just yet. Running the boss pipe cause the stock pipe needs TLC. Could grab a pair of clutch springs. Was thinking the blue ones cause I definitely will need low end… very hilly around here.I’m going to

Ok got it, got it. I'll see what I've got in the 60s range and give it a go tomorrow. I'll report back. Thanks for that... figured it was tuned to the e50 from factory. Was very confused to why I'd be so rich 3 sizes down from stock.
Brian S — 6 weeks ago
Oh wow, it says 82 is stock for my carb on the wiki. I figured I'd lean it out from there. I've got some 60s I can try out.

I couldn't tell ya. I unfortunately have zero info on this engine's past life. I do have the tools to crack it and reseal it if it has to come to that. Once I can get to the hardware store and grab stuff to make a leak down tester, I should be able to tell for sure if the seal is bad.edit: spelling

Hey MA people. Learning through doing on this e50, please bear with me. So far this forum/wiki has been an awesome tool. But, right now I'm stuck and figured I'd reach outMaxi50cc Airsal/ stock intake/ 15mm Bing/ 79 Jet/ 2.22 atomizer/ Black boss pipe/ velocity stack filterGot spark, timed to stock. I've enough compression to shoot my thumb off plug hole...gonna put together a leak

Need return spring for Magura left brake lever. I have the perch that has both brake and clutch lever if that makes a difference. Cant seem to find LEFT side anywhere. Can I just grab a generic left brake lever return spring? Thanks all

Got this as a project bike and then was given a maxi which I was more interested in restoring. No engine or wiring. Has gas cap and speedo just not pictured. Tank has been scoured, cleaned and resealed. Looking for best offers and potentially open to reasonable trades. ThanksLocated in southern Vermont.

Could any of you use these? No fork springs, as pictured. Hate to throw them out. Make me an offer and we can figure out shipping.

Thanks for the input Stephen. I'm gonna hose em out tomrrow and re-assess. Will most likely be doing precisely what you've suggested. Really have no baseline for these pipes, as I havent run the ped yet. Just saw they were super gunky, had a clean stock backup pipe and decided to see if roasting them would be fruitful as a cleaning method.

Puch! I have no idea if you're insulting me or not haha. Iggy circuit = ignition? I think the person I bought it off of got a CDI and half assed the rest of the assembly out of the equation or got stumped then decided to sell for pretty cheap. I've got some learning to do. There'll be a proper post in the coming days once I can gather my words.
