I came across some base gaskets that Treatland sells.https://www.treatland.tv/MLM-puch-metal-base-plate-spacer-for-p/mlm-puch-metal-plate-oversize.htmThey come in different thicknesses, and you can stack a combination of them to "create a perfecto squish".My question is, how do you determine what thickness gasket you need?

Irk Jung — 3 years ago
Forum: General Discussion
If using a 3-shoe clutch with kickstart springs and a brace, is it still recommended to lighten the shoes? Mine weigh 88g each.A lot of what I read involved blue springs. Not sure shaving weight is needed with kickstart springs.Bike details:70cc Piston Port KitStuffed CrankCircuit PipePoints Ignition14x45 Gearing

Irk Jung — 4 years ago
Forum: General Discussion
Got a Puch Maxi...not sure what to do with it. It's in decent shape, but had some questionable shit done to it. I'm going to go thru it, front to back.My plan is to use it as an urban pizza delivery bike. I need it to be reliable, reasonably quiet, good fuel economy, and above average torque. Not really needing to get above 35mph because traffic and stoplights will prevent that anywa

Thanks for the help y'all but I got it. I drilled a hole thru the frame so the fuel line can run straight down. Didn't get the angle just right so had to waller it out a bit but oh well

Irk Jung — 4 years ago
Forum: General Discussion
I've got a question about kitting a ZA50. Looks like a 70cc kit will work for either e50 or ZA50 but I'm concerned about the crankshaft.Do I need to beef it up? Treatland doesn't have a stuffed crank for ZA50. Can I just press a new con rod in and be okay?

23. Rich vs Rich

Irk Jung — 4 years ago
Forum: General Discussion
I'm a little unclear about the whole rich vs lean thing...I know too much fuel is rich, but does rich also describe when you have too much oil in your premix? If my bike is running hot, is that a symptom of too little fuel or not enough oil in my mix?

I've got a pair of Honda no-peds but it's become apparent I'm never going to make time to get them road worthy. Anyone like doing that kind of stuff for money?I'd like them to be gone thru front to back, making them safe and reliable. 26. Re: Carb too big?

My conclusion: the 20mm carb was not too big for my setup. Cracked the engine open and saw the piston ring was quite worn. Replaced it with a new one and the WOT issues are gone.

27. Carb too big?

Irk Jung — 4 years ago
Forum: Performance
I've got a Mikuni 20mm carb on my Puch Magnum and my brother says it's too big for my bike. Anybody agree? When I'm at top speed it will slightly bog down intermittently. In fact, when I lay off the throttle just a bit, it seems to pep up a little.I've down-jetted a few sizes in case it was a little rich but that didn't help. My brother insists the carb is too big for an

29. Re: 12v Coil

Irk Jung — 5 years ago
Forum: General Discussion
Why's that?Treatland site sez:easy install tip for puch maxis!-remove your main light coil (yellow lead) and the buddy coil above it (grey lead). Install the 12v coil then run the yellow wire to your headlight and run the green to your running tail light. This is the simplest way because you leave the 6v brake light circuit untouched, and it takes way less time. Besides, its the headlight and

30. 12v Coil

Irk Jung — 5 years ago
Forum: General Discussion
I'm in the process of installing this 12v coil on my Puch MagnumI'm a little unsure as to how it needs to be wired up. My plan is to run 12v to headlight & tail light, leave brake light 6v.This thing came with no instructions and I've read conflicting information on different sites/blogs. Do I run both wires to the voltage regulator and then to lights?
