Drill starting is great for 1st starts cuz i smoke also gives you one free hand to squirt premix or throttle choke hold plug etc.I've found that holding the drill at a slight (tiny) angle seems to help from keeping the socket from sticking and easier to pop off while holding trigger.
When i started i thought the same way but we are dealing with 50cc of power here. A 12mm carb can get u to 45+ and save u tons of gas too. So basically, its like you can easily breath outta a straw so your motor easily breaths outta 12mm carb.
Theres mods u can do to the stock box.

Wow u actually tried to ride it w the petcock off and it still hit 20???Dont move down jet size from stock, sorry thats not gonna fix it. Since it ran to stock speeds w petcock off this indicates an overrich condition.Address. Maybe choke not fully opening and stuck closed?? Theres is a bunch of wires/cablesthere that would block any any any carb u try. Run an extra in line filter if you havn

That looks messy. Either float stuck on bowl allowing tons of fuel in or needle compromised or seat... or you goofed on your rebuild and oil seal is leaking and sucking tranny oil in.
Diagram in the wiki, two wire magneto. From magneto yellow to lights, Black to coil. Kill wires ground the coil thus killing spark.Reccommend removing oil pump, also zip tie wires away from moving parts.
Did you hone n put in new rings? Compression?If its smoking a ton then try turning off petcock when it running and see if she revs out right before dying put. That will tell you if shes rich.

Id look for replacement wheels if all the spokes that bad the rim cant be far off.
Change 1 seal while u in magneto area. Spark compression fuel timing is what u need to run. Weak spark may be point gap, fouled plug, plug gap, bad wiring, corrosion.Just use the lighting coil u got for the ignition, give it a try.And post on B/S for parts

Well throwing things at an unknown problem is nice but really unnecessary unless the part is bad. Now if you have dough and your replacing with quality stuff because your time is worth more than opening it up again then go for it.

I agree Bungees and bailing wire are good to have. Bailing wire twisted is pretty strong.

Check fuel flow, crap in tank, fuel line kink, sha filter etc. Dont know whats up but should hit 30 pretty easy w airsal
Crank seals do not affect cylinder compression- upstroke. On the down does affect fresh fuel push up thru transfers though. Test yer tester on a running bike to make sure it isnt bad.Quick hone and new rings should get you back up on compression.
