1. Re: Kickstart e50 bumpstarting

Jordan Caughey — 16 years ago
Forum: Performance
Rick, If you push a tomos or coast it down a hill with you on it the second gear clutch will automatically engauge when you hit like 15mph and will start turning the engine over. I don't think the same thing will work on the Kickstart E50 but you could try.

2. Re: tomos exhaust

Jordan Caughey — 16 years ago
Forum: Performance
Check mopedshop.com for tomos exhausts. You could run a nitrous shot for a few seconds but then you'd probably have to replace the engine :D or if you up jet it quite a bit you'll be good.

3. Re: Burnout dilemma

Jordan Caughey — 16 years ago
Forum: Performance
hmm... I just hold the front brake and crack the throttle and mine starts to spin at decent speeds. sometimes it'll shift to second when I get lucky . Mine is running a tad lean though but shouldn't make any more power than yours. Mine is a Stock A35 top end with A3 bottom end and A3 unbaffled pipe, No aircleaner, and only a 57jet. Mine also has slightly advanced timing but tops out abo

4. Re: Sachs Comperssion

Forum: Performance
I'm not sure about your moped exactly but 2 strokes need atleast 120psi compression to run properly.

5. Re: Athena(A35)70cc Kit on A3 Case?

Jordan Caughey — 16 years ago
Forum: Performance
Yes, It will work perfectly. I am currently running an A35 stock top end on my A3 crank and case using a Puch E50 bushing.

6. Re: exhaust ?s

Jordan Caughey — 16 years ago
Forum: Performance
Any exhaust with an expansion chamber will improve the performance of your engine. I believe that the length of the header will determine where the power will come from the pipe weather it be low, mid, or high will be determined by the distance the expansion chamber is from the exhaust port. I also don't know if they make high performance exhausts for you ped but you can always make one yours

7. Re: Someone build me an exhaust

Jordan Caughey — 16 years ago
Forum: Performance
Or an easier more time consuming way would be trial and error lol just keep messing with it until you get it perfect.

8. Re: home made pipe made my frankenped insane!

Jordan Caughey — 16 years ago
Forum: Performance
I would think that you figure out how many rpm's its putting out at whatever range you want to improve on then figure out how fast the gases are comming out then you'll need to figure out how long to make the pipe so that it get to the chamber and back before the unburned gases get out. I don't know really I'm just throwing shit in the air and hoping it doesn't come back l

9. Re: best pipe ????

Jordan Caughey — 16 years ago
Forum: Performance
I know someone who only buys bullets for tomos and he lvoes them. he also built a 50+mph tomos with that pipe. So for top end I would recommend the Bullet.

10. Re: Got Milk (in your intake)?

Jordan Caughey — 16 years ago
Forum: Performance
I have seen that in a bike that sat for a long time. It wasn't just in the intake though the case and everyhting was filled with it. I never did figure out what it was but I cleaned it up and ran fine.

12. 80cc Metrakit on Tomos

Jordan Caughey — 16 years ago
Forum: Performance
I was just wondering how hard it would be to get a 80cc Puch MetraKit to fit a A35N ( A3 bottom end with changed wristpin and A35 top end ) ?

13. Re: How Bad/Good is 115 Octane

Jordan Caughey — 16 years ago
Forum: Performance
No my friend gave this bike to me to ride around until I can get my own form of transportation going. He did have the key to the gas cap and I forgot to get it from him so it was stuck locked. I got the key today though and put normal 87 octane fual and 2stroke oil in it so all is well now. I think the 115 actually slowed me down.

14. Re: How Bad/Good is 115 Octane

Jordan Caughey — 16 years ago
Forum: Performance
well the I can't put any normal 87 octane gas in it right now until I get the key for the cap from a friend. Until I get the key I was just wondering if it would hurt it to run it for short periods of time while testing.

15. How Bad/Good is 115 Octane

Jordan Caughey — 16 years ago
Forum: Performance
I was just wondering how much it would hurt a stock A35 engine to run on 115 Octane racing fuel for a short time?? Like under a minute just to get the ped running right until I get key for the locking gas cap?

16. Re: just got some gas for the metrakit and picture

Jordan Caughey — 16 years ago
Forum: Performance
Spinning the stator plate clockwise would cause the engine to fire sooner so I would say that that is advancing the timing.

17. Re: 1981 Indian Idle Adjust

Jordan Caughey — 16 years ago
Forum: Performance
I had a 1980 Indian with the Mikuni carb and I never did get it to idle right or for very long but my indian wasn't the best of them lol

18. Re: Indian Brake Shoes

Jordan Caughey — 16 years ago
Forum: Repair
DAMN!!! 21 indians.... that nice. About the brake shoes though the only thing I can think of would be to either buy used or NOS ones made for that ped.

19. Re: Screen importance?

Jordan Caughey — 16 years ago
Forum: Repair
Piece of pantyhose over it would work. but I wouldn't ride without some sort of filter. if you somehow sucka small stone into the intake then you'd wish you had a filter then lol

20. Re: WTB: Engine Head Bolts

Jordan Caughey — 16 years ago
Forum: Repair
It probably would have gotten a better response if it was placed in the buy/sell section of the forums. But besides that I usually go to lowes or other hardware stores and if I can't find them there then just go to Ike :D He should have some or mopedshop.com

21. Re: how do i clean a muffler?

Jordan Caughey — 16 years ago
Forum: Repair
:) I just got done cleaning out two yesterday. The only thing I was cleaning though was would that was in there so I put sojme gas in there and lit it up. Then I hung it and let it burn all the oil and crap that was in there until the fire went out on it's own then I tapped the sides with a hammer to get the little stuff out. It seemed to work and looks to be pretty clean.

22. Re: does this sound like soft sieze

Jordan Caughey — 16 years ago
Forum: Repair
The first tomos a35 I bought with the oil injection sucked. we got it running and rode it for a few but evidently the pump was bad and the engine seized. So needless to say I no longer use the oil injection and never plan on it because I can't afford to replace my engine parts as it is. BTW I do think it sounds like your engine may have soft seized but I don't know why the wheels locked.

oh goodluck to ya then

24. Re: 1981 Grande Backfireing

Jordan Caughey — 16 years ago
Forum: Repair
I think that backfiring comes from timing being advanced too far. Maybe you could check the timing and perhaps mark it so if it ends up getting worse you can always go back to the mark.

25. Re: it can run without the airbox?

Jordan Caughey — 16 years ago
Forum: Repair
My L86C shows that it's running a tad rich but the plug is pretty old. I found that my engine doesn't have as much compression as before. I know I need a base gasket for sure because I ripped it :( but I can't get a hold of Ike

26. Re: it can run without the airbox?

Jordan Caughey — 16 years ago
Forum: Repair
well I tore down the carb and cleaned out all holes with a piece of wire but no go :( I'm going to go buy a new plug. What jet should a A35 run when using an A3 exhaust ? I'm using a 51 right now.

27. Re: A35 begins to lose power after riding

Jordan Caughey — 16 years ago
Forum: Repair
when I first put it together it would stall every once in a while and I messed with the fuel line and it was fine but that was because it was kinked a bit. I'll test everything tomorrow

28. Re: A35 begins to lose power after riding

Jordan Caughey — 16 years ago
Forum: Repair
so tear down the carb and clean it then I'll go through the fuel lines and petcock and clean/replace them and use a fuel filter.

30. Re: 1978 Indian Moped Woes

Jordan Caughey — 16 years ago

I would make sure the jet is clean. I used to own a 1980 Indian and never had this problem or the leaking bowl either. I wish you luck on fixing this.
