yea i also hear that if you add a 2% mix of milk into your gas it sometimes fixes cylinder problems.jeff

2. Re: what tomos engine do you like the best??

Jeff Strahle — 17 years ago
Forum: Performance
i like the A-35 the best. I have an A-3 too and i hate it. tomos had a poor design on the clutches. after a couple thousand miles, the clutch ends would break off and strip out the tranny(like 300.00 worth of damage). i also don't like how it has no reedvalve. because the A-35 has one, it is much more powerful it is and how great the pickup on it is. I haven't ridden the A-5 but i'v

maybe you put too much oil in with the gas and its bogging with the added amount of oil also coming from the oil pump.

i like the kind words. they make me feel all warm inside.=p. i'm sure the little "extras" they put on will really help. And as for my hunk, does a 1991 Tomos Golden Bullet TTLX with an A-35 running a port matched 70cc kit with 15/15 dellorto carb and bored intake and reed valves, uniflo filter, and a technigas next exhaust sound like a hunk to you? i'd like to see your "lim

i could understand you getting 56 micheal, but this kid just wants to throw on a kit and a jet and call it a day and be hitting 60. and he thinks hes hitting 50 with just a pipe right now. its all unlogical. Your engine built by smitty has lightened&balanced gears, tighter clutch springs plus any porting he did to your kit. it was also tuned to your bike by a professional. anyways, hitting 60

OH OH I KNOW!!!!! you could tie a rope to your forks and then to the back of someone's car and then you'll hit 60. i also heard if you put sugar in the gas it makes your engine turn faster and more freely. i bet you didn't think of that. you will only hit 60 on a moped IN YOUR DREAMS!!!Jeff

tighten up EVERYTHING on your bike. there may be things loose that you didn't think could be loose. thats one of the cons to a moped. You always have to go around tightening and checking over bolts.Jeff

12. Re: Maxi pedals hit biturbo. What do you do?

Jeff Strahle — 17 years ago

the factory dent is for pedal clearance. but if your pedal is previously bent it is still gonna hit until you straighten it out to specs.

Hello all,I just have a couple of questions about port matching. First off, what is it exactly. Secondly, how is it attempted( i know filing/dremeling is involved). and Thirdly, what kind of performance gains do you acheive? Thanks a lot,Jeff

de-restrict your airfilter and take the baffle out of your exhaust and then upjet.also make sure none of your brakes are dragging and use synthetic oil.

17. Re: Problem with high preformance carb.

Jeff Strahle — 17 years ago

Sorry guys problem fixed. Turns out it was the wrong bushing in the carb. where it clamps to the manifold. I had the right one lying around and threw it in and its snug now. I also bored out the intake and reedvalve while i had everything apart.

18. Re: DELLORTO 15/15 carb...???

Jeff Strahle — 17 years ago
Forum: Performance
OK,I had two spare 14/12 dellorto's lying around. The reason why the 15/15 wouldn't fit is because it had the wrong plastic bushing. My 15/15 and one 14/12 had the same type bushing only the one from the 14/12 was thicker. The other 14/12 had a different bushing which i failed to try. Well turns out when i tried it on the 15/15 it fit as snug as a bug on the manifold. I took advantage of

Butnut,I was thinking the same reason about the shims. But, it was still supposed to fit on the stock manifold in the first place and still give more power. I'm awaiting a reply from dave at themopedjunkyard.com because i'm interested to see what he says how it fits. Dellorto also gave NO instructions with the carb so i don't know if they had a special way to do it either. Also, the

Jeff Strahle — 17 years ago
Forum: Performance
Ok,So i just recieved my Dellorto 15/15 carb. in the mail. I was informed by themopedjunkyard.com that it would bolt right on to my stock manifold. By the way the engine is a tomos A-35. Ok so i go to bolt it on and it was loose. almost too loose that i would need a bigger intake. But mopedjunkyard said this was not needed as did a local moped dealer. So now i am at a loss. Is there a shim that i

Jeff Strahle — 17 years ago

Jimmy,I was looking at a 9/16 bit today and it would make the intake paper thin if not bigger than the intake itself. Drilling it out that big would just ruin the intake either way. Also, how could you bore the offset intake that tomos uses? I know you could bore the small straight part that the actual carb bolts on to, but what about where it is angled? There really is no way to get in there and

Jeff Strahle — 17 years ago

i just ordered the same one off of themopedjunkyard.com and when i emailed the guy to ask if it would work he just said that it will work with the stock manifold. I'm probably gonna bore out my manifold also just to add more power. I'm pretty sure its just the venturi thats larger on the 15/15. you also have to get the manual choke lever when you buy the carb. all in all with the choke l

I hate bi-turbos. All the rivets came loose on mine and the can would rattle up and down. if you really wan this pipe don't go any higher than 40.00. The guy is also probably lying to you about the 5 miles unless you know who the guy is and you trust him. otherwise hes just trying to get more out of the pipe.

Hey,I just order a Dellorto 15/15 carb. off of the mopedjunkyard.com for my airsal kit. right now i have the stock carb. with a #68 jet and a Technigas next exhaust and a uniflow airfilter. Oh i forgot its for a tomos. I just want to know what kinda of power increase i should be able to expect from this carb. and the guy from the mopedjunkyard.com said this carb works with the stock manifold. is

hey guys,i ported the two ports that the reed valve goes into on a tomos 1992 A-35 engine. Since i ported the intake will i have to custom make a new reed valve? i'm pretty sur i would have to. i would also have to upjet.
