Some other things you dummies forget -- I replaced the timing chain. Lots of cars have timing belts that need regular replacement like every 60k miles. I should be good for at least another 100k miles. I have the clear advantage here, even over a new car since I'm at least 100k out from the next time I need to address this.- All these good deals people get really aren't good deals. Peopl

Lol, my time is free. So you count your labor if you're working on a truck, but your time is free if you're watching TV or something? The logic is hilarious, lol. The truck was $900. Let's see parts costs:- New timing chain, sprockets, guides, and tensioners ($120)- Painted valve cover and oil pan ($10)- Resealed oil pan and timing cover ($5)- New valve cover gasket ($10)- New power

It's easier working on the truck than the mopeds, the FSM from Nissan is awesome, and all the OEM parts are available, and parts from dealers are cheap. I picked junkyards for parts too, which is super cheap. I pulled a bunch of R134a parts, will be adding A/C soon.I regret buying the moped, and not buying this truck sooner. For a 2 wheeler, my Yamaha motorcycle is great, and cheaper than wha

No smoke and it runs perfectly. Here's what I did:- New timing chain, sprockets, guides, and tensioners- Painted valve cover and oil pan- Resealed oil pan and timing cover- New valve cover gasket- New power steering and alternator belts- New oil pump and water pump- New pcv valve, OEM oil filter, and oi

Notice when I posted this originally: Oct 1. Scooter crash happened on Oct 13, and I parked the truck right then. I just pulled the truck out Jan 30. That means I have about 2 weeks of work into it......so all you guys look kinda dumb now. Good job assuming stuff and going on and on with the trolling and snarky stuff.Easy as in the steps are easy to remember, it just takes time and elbow grease. I

scooter crash from the wheel falling off. I didn't check to see that the rear cotter pin was in before riding (it's hidden by a cover). Without a pin, the wheel comes off.Since that, I've started looking at cotter pins. Looks like lots of people don't ride with them in on motorcycles out of ignorance. I noticed a missing pin when I had wheel work done on another bike, and I saw

I buy gas from a boat dock....ethanol free. Burns better, I don't have to worry about letting the moped sit for weeks. Keeps carb clean.why would you need such high octane? Isn't 87 or 90 good enough?ethanol vs ethanol free will change your jetting. ethanol gas runs lean.

> "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."don't you want to fix things before they break? I'd say it's more like "if it ain't worn out, don't replace it", but I'd argue against that too. There's something to say for replacing things when you're in there, especially if are removing a bunch of stuff. I have to replace the timing chain

hmm, 0000 doesn't work, I just tried wet and dry, it makes the metal dull, it doesn't polish.pretty sure you want to use polishing rouge and polishing wheels. My technique or rouge is just wrong.Watch car videos, they cut through with power tools and different wheels. I just haven't found a video of anyone polishing a piston to a mirror finish. There was a video I found of a buy poli

hmm, will this cut through gunk and give a mirror finish? This look like you just put it on and rub it off with a rag, doesn't seem like it will do much. I have several compounds, nothing will cut through heavy gunk and give a mirror finish, it's a multi-step thing. I just haven't found videos of someone going through the process.I thought you had to use different rouge and a power

how are puch forks maintained? Is there anything to rebuild? On my motorcycle I just replaced my fork seals, and I'm wondering if the moped needs similar attention.I'd like to get a new fork and rear shocks eventually, but it's not in the budget for now.these egoboost shocks look pretty coolegoboost shocks

Pulled the truck out after 3 months in storage while I healed from the scooter crash. Today I pulled the oil pan and valve cover, and ordered a few parts (I think oil pressure sensor is leaking too, bought one of those). Working on this truck is easy. Will pull the timing cover tomorrow, just need to pull distributor and oil pump. This week I'll clean up the parts, will install everything nex

Hey people, check the names. FREE Mopedarmy makes dummy posts under names with 1 letter changed. Also when you guys are talking $100-$200 for a bike, it's in shit condition. I see these too, but it's rare. I've tried to snag several in this range, either they go quick, or people want more money.Paying $100-$200 for a rusted frame, crankcase, and wheels seems legit, but not a stock ru

First off, fuck you. Second, just because you found a deal doesn't mean that's normal. Most people are asking like $700, and they'll probably go down to like $500, maybe. Sure deals exist, but that's not the norm.$150 will get you an ok bicycle in most cities, so saying you'll get a decent moped screams BS, it likely needs a lot of work. I'm sure the rare deal is out

Ok I don't have access to machinist tools or a drill press. I understand how to measure squish band, use solder and check thickness with calipers to be sure you're tightest at the outside and it gets bigger moving in.I guess I could do reshaping completely by hand, how long would that take? I did porting with a set of hand files, it look hours, but it worked. What are the best balls to ge

I've also heard of Chinese scooters going tens of thousands of miles, but only with careful adjustment, it's not plug and play. It's like mopeds, somebody with skill can make it work, but in the wrong hands it'll break.People don't want Chinese because they're lazy, they want it to just run with no attention, like a car. You don't have many Chinese scooter dealer

I lived there 2013/2014. Honestly it's a cool cheap town, I'd move back. Weather is nice, no traffic, nice apts. That's one of the cities I liked a lot, Pittsburgh, Nashville, and KCMO are nice too. I think some of the big cities are overrated, too expensive, too much office work/yuppies.Getting a job at the savannah port unloading stuff would be cool. I worked out there for a day,

Seems spendy tho, I think Chinese scooters are under $1000If mopeds made sense here Honda would be selling them, but I'm sure they can find 20 people to buy, it's not like they're trying to sell tons of these to compete with scooters and motorcycles.Ideally it would arrive on a crate from China and you have set it up and make all necessary adjustments, maybe laws on that are toughUp

Clubmans are cool, I'm not riding for hours at a time, so I can be hunched over. Part of it is people on the street, I get a lot of cheers, I think that's mostly from the exhaust tho, the looks come once the pipe kicks in.The bigger regret is mopeds in general, but I'm dumb so I keep going and don't cash out. he may think you're an idiot, plenty of people think mopeds are worthless. Most people have mopeds just rotting in their garage or they just dump them, so getting $450 for 2 old worthless mopeds was probably a win-win.most people want cars and that's it, mopeds are a toy, and if they get injured or lose interest they are just worthless rust buckets to them

I'm aware you can save old paint, but it depends. On my 70s bike, some polish made it look amazing. The paint on my Puch Maxi looks like shit and is super faded and weird, but I'm going to leave it alone.I love how you say I'm doing it wrong, BS, anything that's in decent shape or running posts for like $500-$1000.
