The cables are switched. First is second and vice versa.
I skips in and out but eventually grabs. My problem is most of the time it stall no matter how much you feather it. You feel it grab and in and out until it picks up speed. Too much throttle and it stalls.
Got it shifting through all gears now. Thanks all you guys for the help. Now it bucks when in first gear? Carb or clutch? I’ll play with it more when I get home today.
I got it to engage yesterday with a screwdriver, so I think you’re correct. Do I need new cables or can I bend the brackets? Do I need to make my own cables? Also when adjusting do I adjust when in gear?
Thanks all of you. I will look at it this weekend or before if I have time. I'll let you know what I find!
Got an early 60s puch moped with a manual gearbox. Starts right up after a little tlc. My issue is first gear wont engage unless you hold and put a little more tension on the handle bar shifter. It’s not enough to just pull the clutch and shift.Second gear works great! Does this sound like a problem inside the transmission or just a cable adjustment? Thanks in advance!
Just got done rebuilding another e50. I was about to through a k-start 50cc on it, and it occurred to me that I never try for max performance, even in a kit. I'm talking close to stock setups mostly. Chuck a 15mm intake and one of those stock looking aftermarket cigar exhausts, upjet until I hear four stroking, and I get about 35ish. I generally run things a bit rich. Let's pretend that
Sorry for my absence. I got it sorted out, and I thought I'll give you guys an update. It turned out that Wild was spot on with his explanation. The noise was actually two unrelated issues. The squeel was the rust built up in the big end bearing. a fatty mixture and long ride cleared that right up. That grind had me scratching my head for a bit. My first thought was the clutch bell rubbing, a
It's possible. E50s are extremely easy. I rebuild all my engines, new crank and all - even when keeping it stock. Since I don't have time right now to work on it, It's the difference between riding it or parking it until I do. Plus I'm just curious.
I don't have time to work on it until Sunday. Thanks for your response es. I'll post a video with it running.
I am thinking of purchasing a 1980 maxi located around the corner from me for $200.It starts, idles, stops, and the tank is clean. The only thing wrong is a terrible noise. The best way I can describe it is that it sound like when you whistle with a blade of grass, sorta like a kazoo. I think it's a bearing noise, but I just want to know if it is more likely the big end bearing in the crank,
Cool. Is it for sale? If so, how much do you want for it?
Looking for a stock Puch Maxi that runs, idles and stops. I have about $500 dollars to work with. I am on the border of Ohio and Michigan, and I am willing to travel 100-200 miles to scoop it up. If this price is unreasonable, let me know why.
