I did get my piston removed finally. I had to take it to my local machine shop and he was able to press it out of the jug for me. The rings were seized to the piston which had a crack on the top so they can't be used again. But I saved the wrist pin, connecting rod, and crankshaft to use later.......Sandy
Yes, the moped is wired American with lights, switches, tail, and brakes which requires a 3-wire flywheel. The Italian flywheel for mopeds used in Italy has only two wires coming out of it.
The Italian version of the G2 magneto has only two wires because Italy doesn't require the brake lights like we do here in America. Our G2 magneto has three wires. I have gotten a two-wire MDP flywheel/magneto from Italy and would like to know if I can add the third wire to the magneto like in the Dansi (which is in the American moped). This is probably a stupid question but I'll ask any
Thanks for all the suggestions. One of them should work for me. I'll let you know how things turn out..........Sandy
I have a piston on my Benelli G2 that I can't get out of the jug. I think there was moisture in it as the engine was stored away. I'm afraid I will have to cut the connecting rod in half to get the piston off and then replace the rod, piston, and jug assembly. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to remove the seized piston before I make a drastic move.
I need a complete flywheel including magneto, coils, points, condenser. I just received an engine block with corroded flywheel assembly and want to replace it.Sandy
Thanks for the heads up Aaron. I bought a G2 engine this morning on Ebay from a shop in Italy. The shipping was terrible but it's exactly what I wanted and I should have it shortly.
Is this engine complete inside and will it run? How much are you selling it for?Sandy

I have a 1978 Benelli G2 that has the starter clutch frozen engaged. The bike will not freewheel. When on its stand it starts and runs just fine but I cannot start it off the stand because it is too hard to pedal from a standstill. Does anyone know what the repair involves?Sandy
My starter clutch stays engaged. It is stuck somehow. The rear wheel will not spin freely. How might I fix this problem?Sandy

Hi, I've just gotten a 1978 Benelli G2 moped and the kick stand needs replaced. Did you ever find one for your Robin. I think the two mopeds are made by the same company and perhaps the stands are interchangeable. Thanks,Sandy
Thanks, Poop Dollar, for the reply and pic. I'm still trying to figure out how to get the old crank off. And I need to take a look at the headlight/speedo gauge assembly to see if the cable is still OK. I'll be a little while before I place that order.Sandy
I just bought a G2 and need some parts for it. Right now I need a pedal crank assembly, a rear brake cable, and the speedo cable with its wheel fixture. Asking for a lot but maybe someone has one of these items.
