I like kicking dead horses, what PSI readings did you end up with an oversized piston?
heres the pics of the case and old stator, if that helps.. still no spark there...
But which Nick of them all would that be? I might swing by in July, but would be nicer to ride before that!
for tomos! mine got fried! for POINTS stator! or if you have CDI stator & coil combo, im willing to convert to the easy side!Cheers!
had to send off to re-wire a '71 DT last year too, found a spot in alabama for $200 w/warranty
yeah the bottom end being most important part id have to pass that one, but thanks!
Got a frame, need to put something in it - a35 would be the best! need entire motor, preferrably w/cylinder & carb, but could do without those either! holler!
check the resistance between primary and secondary coils on the coil box? should be around 1.5 - maybe you got a bogus one? just in case check for continuity between the wire and boot?
oh, only took me this long to figure it out. the crank was moving side-to side (i could push it in and out a bit between clutch and flywheel sides) in the case, that's why no clutch start and so much noise in the tranny at higher rpms!
yeah man, i had to drill a hole in the mount so not to force it, done errething exactly like you described a while back. like i said, the pipe fits real nicely. im super confused... gonna pop a new one in today see if anything changes
the last stud i put in was off minarelli, so it was a bit shorter. im running techno boss, drilled an extra hole in the exhaust pipe mount in the rear so it would fit real snug. Everything was fine till my magneto got chewed up, but i replaced what was fucked, etc and made sure the timing is right...
the left side exhaust stud keeps braking, tapped to m7 and helicoil, still broke after 15 min of riding... any ideas whats causing it? im not over-tightening it or anything, the pipe sits snug...getting tired of extracting those fuckers..((
got a multi-meter? test your condenser and HT coil and make sure you got continuity from the coil all the way to the end of the boot. make sure to check your kill switch too. lightly sandpaper the points and all connections
could be idler gear/pedal gear stripped or the pin. unless its really bad i won't touch it, im still hating myself for taking apart my v1
definitely fuck re-tapping and helicoils, even with loctite my ex stud just falls out with all the vibration. making a deep slot in the stud and unscrewing it with a flat head sounds a lot better.
i think so just ordered new ones though. kinda sucks that unless i get an 80's crank or the 'race' from 77, all those argentinian clutches are useless to me((
anyone got to re-line the stock ones? material/adhesive suggestions? mine crumbled and im facing a complete rebuild thanks to shit is everywhere in the case. Not many options for stub plane clutch shoes, new stock ones are $$$$$$ :(
i also used some of the black sealant on the rubber side, just to be sure.

any insulating electrical tape, you don't want those bare wire connectors to touch the ground. Im pretty sure you want to keep the condenser in the circuit http://www.mopedarmy.com/wiki/Condenser ; you can also test it http://www.mopedarmy.com/wiki/Condenser_Testing ; and ignition coil, if you know your specs , im having a similar issue on a v1 right now
i hope it was not like that when you pulled off the magneto... electric tape on the 2 black\blue would be crucial cuz it might just dangle and ground itself. Also chech if points are clean and open easily
ok anyone has a multimeter? I cant find any specs but my primary coil has resistance of 1.1 ohms (at 200 ohm max setting); secondary coil has 6.5 thousand ohms (6.5 at 20k setting) and if i measure the secondary coil with the boot on it has 13.1 thousand (at 20k setting) ohms... what's your numbers?
dang so the new condenser didn't help. crazy voltage but no spark. checked the boot - the ohm meter needle stands right about in the middle - seems right? checked the primary coil - between (+) that comes from stator and (-) that goes to ground - needle goes all the way to the right. messed with an ol' puch coil - same thing...
