Here's a pretty easy option for carb alternative. I used a side intake from a v1. Just had to elongate one mounting hole. The stock intake almost works, might be able to fit a SHA with cable choke, but it would be snug.
Supposedly Honda pc50, p50, and qa50 use the same rings. Ordered some from Thailand, if they get here I'll see if they work.I was unable to save the rings rusted into the piston of the first engine. Hopefully I'll have better luck on the next one.
Looking for info on sources of parts and compatible parts for Indian Mopeds.Just picked up a couple thrashed and water logged Indians. I am salvaging almost everything but I have been researching possible replacement parts just in case. I know parts and compatible parts are a bit hard to find and I have gone through moped wiki and the forums but still don't know much. I would definitely be
Any updates on price / where to purchase?
I'm workin on a buddies M01 stocker. It started out somewhere between 15 and 20 mph. I put on a motomarina stock baffle with the end cap remove and drilled out the intake a bit since it is super tiny. I'm getting a solid 25mph and about 30 for a slight downhill. Take off is still awful though. I'd be interested to hear if anything else has/can be done.
Just wanted to throw this out to the masses that know more than I do. I've been trying to eliminate an air leak from an a35 I bought non-running. I've used different cylinder, head, and gasket combinations as well as making sure to use proper torque on the nuts. Spraying carb cleaner between the cylinder and head consistently kills the engine. Any other ideas as to what might be happ
I'm going to get a new set of controls if it comes down to it, I was more curious if anyone had come up with alternatives to the thread in switches.
Just wondering if anyone has come up with any alternatives to the traditional brake switch for operating brake lights? I've got an 83 General 5 star and the posts for the switches are crazy long and I haven't come across any replacements. I could just replace the entire control set, ride without brake light, or wait til I find some replacements, but I know there is someone more resourc
I posted in the forums before about having a bad experience with the SOS giving me a hard time because I only had a bill of sale. I bought the ped as a box of parts and there was no evidence of previous registration. The person at the SOS was convinced that if it was old it must have had a previous registration. I was told I needed an assurance bond in order to register the ped. Long story sho
I have a 78 Regency, it has been a little tricky getting it working nicely. Otherwise I love it. Its fun to ride, acceleration is probly best of my peds, top speed about the same, I run stock on my peds.
I just thought I would post this on here to see what other info I could stir up. Today I went to the Michigan SOS to register my 4th moped. 1983 General 5 star that I built from a box of parts and a few trips to 1977, Treats, and here at Moped Army. Every other trip to SOS for me has been great but today I hit a wall. I was told that regardless of my bill of sale, because I have no record of p
I know this post is from a while ago, but did you ever figure out the prob? I have a 505 that sounds like is doing the same thing. Seemed to be running okay, top speed might have been a bit low (no speedo) otherwise okay. Then lost all power and eventually died, and was hard to start. Would run on the stand, but died when increasing throttle, and eventually had trouble starting. Any ideas?
Sorry, forgot to mention it is the Sachs motor and I have a brand new battery.
I just picked up an 83 General 5 Star. Got it running smooth now, just need to get the lights working proper. Headlight and running light work.My main concern is the brake light. Turn signals don't work either, only left indicator light in speedo. I don't care about them unless related to brake light, but I don't see how they would be. Also bulbs could be bad, haven't chec
Hopefully I've got it this time. You guys kept telling me to check the banjo screen, and sure enough gunk city. Gonna test ride tomorrow
Thanks, all this info has been very helpful. The leak hasn't come back so that is good. It ran for the last couple weeks just fine, no problems. Went to take it for a ride last night, got distracted, came back and started it up without the fuel line on like an idiot. Since that point I am having trouble with it dying when I ride it any distance (with the fuel line open mind you). It seem
I still need the brake assembly. I tried a couple different options but nothin has quite worked yet. I would like the real deal, but mostly I want to ride, or I guess stop...
I'm pretty sure the cap is still venting, if I tip the tank upside down a little gas comes out, so it isn't an air tight tank either way. I just know I had a problem with fuel supply on a motorized bicycle because of vacuum in the tank. I had to take the cap off for a second while riding to keep it going.I haven't had a chance to do a real distance test but I drove it around this
Thanks for the input. I took another look at the float and noticed a couple little plastic "burs" on the side where the two halves come together. I sanded them down and it hasn't leaked since. Now that I can get it running I've started riding it and going further each time. The issue I ran into on my last ride was that it died like it was out of gas, but started right back up
I have a Batavus regency that I am having trouble starting. Every now and again I get it to start and run for a couple minutes. I cleaned the carb and the exhaust. my guess is that the float keeps getting stuck because gas leaks out the intake of the carb. Any other ideas or ideas on how to fix the float?
I posted this in the other forum but probably will have more luck here. I need the brake assembly and brake plate for my 1983 general 5 star. I was hoping I might be able to find something compatible but so far no luck. I'm still working on locating the parts through other sources but figured I'd put the word out. I would be willing to buy a complete wheel or other parts if it means
I have a 1983 General 5 Star with Sachs motor, but I am missing the front brake plate and brake assembly, I have the wheel. I haven't been able to find anything specifically for a General 5 Star yet. Anyone know what would be compatible? Are there any other wheels that would work with the General 5 Star forks, or even a hub I could re-assemble into my current wheel? Thanks
I just bought my first moped and I love it! I'm working on getting my fiance 1 so that we can ride together. When we get around to taking a ride just for fun we'll have to ride up toward Owosso. I'll post on here when and where and see what happens.
This is an old posting, but just got my moped and I would be interested in getting a group together, if anyone is still out there.
