Final update: This $17 carb is running well. I had to modify my treats MBK throttle to get the choke to disengage. I filed out the diagonal slide in the grip and its working well. I dunno what size jet this thing came with since its unlabeled but it was way to big. My 50v was running way to rich and topping out at about 20. I threw a 53 in there and now its running well. Totally worth it if
Solved: my old machining teacher would be ashamed but I was able to dremel/file the diagonal slot on the throttle and get enough pull to release the choke! FYI It’s Similar to the mod of an og moby throttle in the wiki but the non diagonal slot that the set screw sits in doesn’t seem to limit pull on this one. Rather you gotta extend the slot the cable itself rides in. Thank you for the tips
Still stumped on this one! Seems like the throttle tube definitely limits how much pull you can get. I can tighten my cable enough to pull off the choke only if I tighten it to the point where it is affecting my idle by raising the slide. The set screw on this throttle doesn't seem to limit the rotation like on the original throttle in the wiki. I confirmed this because I can fully remove
Hey y'all I'm having a classic SHA problem of the choke not releasing on my 14/12 clone carb. I've seen the throttle mod on the wiki, for the stock throttle. Does anyone know if it is needed for the treats replacement version? I noticed that the slot you dremel out on the stock metal throttle goes all the way through the tube while the plastic replacement I have has a slot that
Carb #2 came in and looks good! Choke works this time. I put an o ring in there that’s causing the shim to stick out. Would y’all file that shim that sticks out down or just run it?
One more, what the hell is that aluminum shaving stuck to it?
Buyer beware! this MothAR carb is a joke! Huge dent where the air filter mounts. Choke doesn't disengage when the slide is pulled all the way up, big old metal burs, and to top it off the float bowl doesn't sit flush and has a bump in the plastic. The box it was in was pretty damn smashed but this is just bad! It has free returns so I ordered a replacement but I have a feeling its go
Well i went with a $17 one listed as"MothAr A35 Carburetor For Tomos A35 Dellorto Style SHA 14:12P Carburetor Targa LX Golden Bullet TX50#2FM-090-047 "Comes with a screen filter and a 52 jet which the wiki says should be about right for a stock 50v. I will report back once and if I get this thing running.
I'm fixing this 50v I picked up for my partner and figure I'll ditch the gurtner since it is missing its air filter/box, choke cable etc and has sat for hella long. There are SO many fake dellorto SHA carbs out there that i'm a little unsure which one to pickup. can anyone link me to one they have used that fit on a stock 50v bendy intake with minimal mods? hopefully for a lever ch
Hey y'all. Looking for a cheap fixer upper (does that even exist in 2021) in the Bay Area if anyone is looking to clear out some space let me know!
I did check the cap and it appears to be venting (I can spray air through it) also pulling it off doesn’t change anything. Gonna go ahead and pull the petcock this weekend and check again to see if the float needle is sticking. Thanks for all the ideas y’all
will totally fit, I've run these in the past without a problemSava B4 tire
replying to my own thread again lol. After snooping around i realized the second hole i mentioned is for fuel overflow. I'm wondering now if with the ticker/primer plugged pressure builds up in the float bowl thus causing fuel delivery issues. Is some sort of venting needed on a bing float bowl?
Ps I started a different thread since I didn’t find this info when searching and it could be helpful for future moped nerds who are too cheap to buy a new carb
Sooo another bing question here. Does a 14mm bing vent from the ticker primer thingy or from the lil hole in the top of the part the float bowl screws into?Asking cuz my carb never had the primer buddy that pushes the float down so I plugged that hole with a little rubber cap. Still starts fine without priming but I’m wondering if plugging it is causing issues.
Roots to wings, I’m in the same boat! I thought I was all clear but once things get real hot like go top speed for a few miles my ped dies. It kinda starts to struggle more and more til it just stops and needs to chill for a few before it can start. Longer I wait the better it runs.I think I’m overheating due to air leaks! It appears my techno circuit pipe is leaking where it mounts. Got some
just thought I'd let y'all know it was a bad condenser once again! I need to pick up a spare vw condenser to keep on hand. Thanks for all the help :-)
Graham: I pulled the filter out of the banjo and the passage way is looking good in the banjo but good thinking! Gas is flowing.I’m wondering now if an air leak is causing my carb to loose vacuum. Gaskets are definitely ready to be replaced but I’m not sure that would effect the flow so drastically?
Hey y’all, haven’t posted on here in forever but here I am! I have a Ktm Foxi with an e50, 14mm bing and 65cc airisal kit. I’ve had this thing for almost a decade and it’s always been suspiciously reliable.Lately its been acting up and I’m stumped. It will start but as soon as the rpms get up it dies on me. Sometimes if I let off the gas if will still idle. It very much feels like it is starv
Cool, my plan is to install and external condenser inline with the blue wire to the coil via this tutorial:install an external condensor on a puchI guess it depends on how my condesner has failed. there is only one way to find out To be clear I'm trying not to pull my flywheel because I'm away from home out in the county with limited tools and no soldering iron atm. There's some
Hey y'all maybe a dumb question here but I'm pretty sure my condenser is bad on my ktm foxi (e50)I've read that when you add an external condenser you should remove the old one and solder it's wires together. My understanding is that a condenser is a capacitor, so if it fails would it just be letting unlimited current through thus having the same effect as soldering the wires
Thats cool could you reach out to your homie and see whats up Tyler? Thanks
Marc: thats why I'm asking if dude is dead or something, I've been emailing and pming him since the 12th with no response. But yeah if hes a reputable MA dude thats been here hella long please hit up your dude cause for some reason he is doing a real bad job.
Also thanks for the tip Jenn.
I appreciate the offer but hopefully this dude just resurfaces with the best like real reason he is ghosting out so far? Still trying to track him down.
So I paypaled $35 to this Will Thomas fella for a sha 14:12, some jets and a filter on the 5th. He said he was sending it on the 6th. It didn't show up so i send him a message on the 12th asking what was up. He then said"Yes sorry i was at the up jet ralley and i hosted people all week get it out first thing I'll throw in some extra jets for you"Seemed like no big deal, he
Hey y'all I am trying to ditch the gurtner carb on my roommates Peugeot 102. Anyone have a 14:12 sha they would ship out to oakland on the cheap? Or even better anyone local have one? Looking for something complete with a filter. If it has any jets in the 50s I won't be mad. Let me know what you'd want shipped to 94608, thanks!
My s90 has over 32,000 miles on it and I ride it almost every day. It is a great city bike. I pick up from a light about as fast as the average driver. The folks at the yahoo group pretty much know everything you need to know and are super helpful. I found mine for free on there and was able to revive it. https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Honda-S90/infoEverything I've had to do to my b
Whats the worst thing about the cub? What year is it? Pictures? Also what sort of other stuff are ya talking about?
Thats a bit smaller than what I'm looking for although i would trade it for another s90 in restorable shape. Other than that I'm looking for something bigger with street legal potential.
