If memory serves, the bike in the pic is actually a Free Spirit frame with a custom top bar added to make it a top-tank.

It took a 14mm carb/intake and pipe upgrade to get my Maxi into the high 30's with 15x45 gearing and my 130lb on board. Stock low-torque cylinder & head. Topped out at 28-30 before.

Thanks for looking. Probably gonna be hard to find, but the bike deserves the correct fender. The search continues.

Looking for a good useable front fender off a Puch Murray or Series B. Preferably in the "wine" color w/gold pinstripes, but any Murray fender will suffice. Pic for example below.

IF you wanted to get the PA title transferred into NY, you'll need whoever was the executor of the old man's estate to sign the title over to you at a notary. BTDT (with motorcycles).

Recently decided to convert the rear snowflake mag on my Maxi to sealed bearings. Ordered this 12mm axle from treats and a pair of 16101zz bearings from bearingoptions.co.uk through ebay (best deal I could find inc. international shipping). No problem right? Wrong. The bearings arrived yesterday and I went to test fit them on the axle, and was disappointed to discover they did not fit. Got out my

Bought a running '77 Newport off this toothless, shirtless crackhead guy for $60. He kept getting stopped by the police for riding it back & forth to "work" with no license/registration and for riding it drunk with no headlight in the middle of the night. Poor guy was living in a shitty shared house with weekly rent and about a dozen feral cats. I offered $50, which he declined.

I also pedal away from a dead stop, just one or 2 "pumps" to get a little farther into the powerband before I let the engine take over. Plus, I can pop tiny wheelies over curbs & stuff with them.

Pedals are what makes a moped a moped (to me, and to the state of Pennsylvania). No pedals=scooter=MC license in the eyes of the law. I also like being able to kill the engine and pedal through the bike lanes whenever possible.

Nah. Speed limit in town is 25, I usually cruise at 35. If they wanna pass me that's cool, if there's a cop nearby they'll get the speeding ticket instead of me.

"Neighbors yelling at me like you need to slow down! I'm going 38 Dan, chill the fuck out, mow your damn lawn and sit the hell down".Despite the fact that I don't care for this song, or the artist, or people calling scooters mopeds, this lyric rings true and makes me laugh.

The Zundapp low-rise look great and are pretty comfortable for low bars. I had the mini low-rise on a maxi project with the speedo and it didn't look too bad. Or use a bullet headlight like Andrew suggested. Or hide it behind a fairing of some sort, Treats has re-pop Magnum LTD fairings in stock.

I could be wrong, but I believe the Maxi K was a Euro model that shared a frame with the Maxi N but came with a kickstart E50 and no pedal crank/freewheel assembly. They also had neat Maxi K specific side rails and covers that leave the entire cylinder/head area exposed.Stephen Keller Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> I think so, but most if not all were Euro spec&

Was flipping channels before bed last night, stumbled on a rather stupid hidden camera prank show (a la Candid Camera) where they were crashing a Honda PC50 into a hot dog cart repeatedly. Sorry bout the shitty phone pics.

Go for it. The euro is down, I'll bet even with international shipping the price would be pretty close to what Treats gets for theirs (with shipping).

On a 1978 Newport L my roommate just picked up. Thing has like 12.5k miles on it. Gast used to be an antique car dealership, they have since moved from New Holland to Strasburg, PA and become more of an exhibit/museum for antique cars. Guess they used to sell mopeds too.
