i feel yer pain, i bout a role of it cause that all home depot has, i tried soldering few joints and it was like pissing up wind uphill. the amount of heat required practically makes the insulation melt off before it starts to flow, and this is on clean bran new wire. it become quite problematic considering i had to wire up a whole harness for my buddy's drag racing truck.

On the Iowa modes they have internal exhaust restrictions in the muffler. I would recommend trying a non Iowa stock exhaust. Or a aftermarket high performance expansion chamber

a build form might be a good idea no that i think of ittypically i find lame builds in repair forum that really happen to be a noob replacing piston rings and calling it a build . insane builds end up in performance forum ,for example; some one machines a liquid coold cylinder and stroke the crank +3mill and runs it on 100LL. and some times i finde build in OT which make no sense because ot i

im sure you can get it to go 40, the first time i attempted porting i did it the cheesy way by filing down the exhaust side of the piston about .5mm and i went from topping out at 35 to 37 (i did this cause i had a worn out piston and rings and had nothing to loose). the main down side is i lost low end torque due what i believe to be a lower compression ration cause by the increase in volume c

NC50's can go 37 with a bone stock cylinder and carb. the main restriction is in the pipe.
