I appreciate you guys and gals not being too hard on me. I’m happy I’m here to be able to read these responses.I was more or less just curious because I feel like I had a car that was worth less and in worse condition than my moped and it still carried some value when someone hit me.Either way, never been in this situation before and hope it never happens again, especially to anyone else out there

No helmet and flippity flops. My injuries given the scenario and lack of gear are not bad all things considered..and I have a new appreciation for the saying 'take i

I've lawyered up. Yes, I do have health insurance. No, I am not at fault, so @ trick METRIC your point on whether or not I should have insurance on my property (assumed collision insurance in this case) wouldn't matter. My insurance would not cover it so I'm not sure how your point comes into play. Also I'm not crying about anything, I'm just wondering about resources to

Hey Guys --I got into a crash the other day. Someone turned left in front of me to turn onto a cross street and didn't see me. Anyway, we made contact at about 30 MPH for me and about 15-20 MPH for them.To me it looks like the bike is salvageable, but either way the Insurance claim on it right now values it at '$0' which to me is unacceptable. It's a 1977/1978 Motobecane 50v

would you consider shipping to DE?
Roger Semour — 4 years ago
How much??
Roger Semour — 4 years ago
You definitely aren’t interested in splitting the lot up and definitely local pick up? I’d be interested in the motobecane only.I got in an accident on mine 2 weeks ago. Someone decided to turn left in front of me so mine is totaled. I’m not back on my feet entirely by want to ride a Moby again so I’m on the hunt. Thoughts? Pm me

I know this is the Buy/sell section, did you end up buying it/any notable performance improvements? Let me know what your thoughts are.

Obviously not apple's to apple's comparison. I guess you need some more insight on my Moby. It was the first bike I worked on and I felt like I could never get it to work because of lack of knowledge and wacky wiring on those silly little bikes.

Sooo I saw some axles for sale on ebay.. The cheapest one was 14.99 and the next cheapest is 20, is there a difference in thread count slash size for the front and rear axles for the motobecanes? Or any difference at all before i buy the wrong thing...

Fine PonyBoy... I forgot to put WTB... But the description after says it all.. I need a 50v rear axle shipped to DE. I will check the bay. Thanks.

I have a 3 coil generator, the 12V system.. Its a late model 77 early 78.. If I hardwire and use the 5 way switch will I lose my accessories? For example will the taillight only function as a running light and not a brake light as well and will the horn still sound? The hardwiring part is what confuses me.. How do i wire the system so everything works. Headlight, Horn, Running light, and brake
Roger Semour — 10 years ago
Hmmm... well i was working on putting together the new switch i got with the wiring instructions from the mabecane site that you provide on one of my other threads moby, but I can't seem to get it to wire correctly... I have tried to figure out what the stock set up is.. I have brown running to number 2 lead... I have purple running to 5, i have silver running to 6... not quite sure which col

Okay, so I'm in DE after being in MD for a bit and in DE they have the great idea of making you register mopeds. With that being said to make my brakelight work and everything work in unison that is set up stock on there (Horn, Kill switch tail light, break light and headlight) I plan to use the five way switch. DE also thinks its a good idea to require turn signals... I have a 1977 50v 12v

Any one have one of those plastic covers that go on the right side of the Moby 50v.. The ones that cover the magneto? I have everything pretty much except that... If anyone is willing to part with that piece i'm willing to pay, shipped to DE. Hope to hear something soon! Thanks.
Roger Semour — 10 years ago
take the magneto cover off. It's reverse threaded so remember that. If you have a strap wrench to hold the other side that is the most ideal method. the lead is attached with the other two wires on the points. make sure you try and mount it externally if it is not already. It gets too hot when its inside the genny and thats what gives it problems.

Greg, have you replace your condensor yet? Its like a ten dollar part you can go to the auto store and tell them you have a car from the 70s or older... I had similar problems to what you have and it was the condensor... I have a sick feeling that mine is timing related..

OH and its a moby 50v 1978 sorry forgot to mention that.

Tried running with and without an air filter.. should i downjet or what do you think it is?
