I just want to say that my '82 Express has that exact same tinking noise Randy. It's done it ever since I got it, and it loses power as it warms up (top speed on hills drops to 5-6mph. The noise is loudest when the engine is under load.I significantly reduced the noise by honing the cylinder and replacing the rings. Make sure to install the small metal ring expander that goes beneath the

I have the misfortune of living in a state that hates old mopeds, and the PO didn't do me any favors on mine (he lost the title and also installed an engine with non-matching VIN). Since I can't get a replacement title I'd rather just buy a new frame with an actual title and swap things over.If you have a junked NC50 Express (mine is a '78 but any year would be good enough) tha

I have an NC50 Express with a pitted cylinder and scored piston that I'm parting out. It's mostly disassembled so if you want something and it's not on this list, PM me and I'll see what I can do.Things I have:* Complete wiring harness. Unmolested, was pulled out of frame in one piece.* Brake levers + cables* Front and rear wheel + brake drums.* Ignition switch with key* Workin

Yup, idle circuit has been taken off and cleaned out. It looks like I'm going to have to find an impact screwdriver to get the intake off.

It seems like I've done everything possible to this express to get it going, but it still refuses to do more than run for ~10 seconds, and that's with my fingers physically plugging the whole carb opening with a 1-2mm gap. What could be causing this?I've:Swapped a carb from a working Express (totally clean)Baked the pipe (airflow is much less restricted)Checked the ignition and repl

So I bought another carb for my express (barn find) because the carb that was on it was beyond repair, but apparently honda changed the size of the top cap (is that what it's called?) between years. In any case, the one from my old carb doesn't fit and I need one of these but have no idea where to buy one. Any advice on this? I have access to a machine shop but I'm honestly not sure

I have a few more things I want to try on my ped before I swap the carb out completely (just realized that the previous owner completely destroyed the plug while trying to gap it) so if you want to sell it on ebay this weekend go ahead. If you don't end up selling it I'll get back to you in the future though.

Awesome, my bucket is fine and I could buy a whole new bucket and light assembly for like $25, but it seems like a waste just to get the little surround.
Peter D — 11 years ago
It's 53715; if your parts bike happens to have the front headlamp surround/lens assembly and you wouldn't mind parting with it, I'd maybe buy that off you too.

I'm looking for a pre-auto-choke Express carburetor that still has the press-fit main jet installed or is one of the improved ones with a screw in main jet. Even if you just have the carb body without the bowl I would take it, as long as the jets are both fine.As a sidenote, if you have an express VIN plate and title you could sell me, I would love to buy that off you as well.

Email sent out (and a free bump on top of it)

How much would you want for just the VIN plate and registration from one of those expresses? (Preferably the orange 1977) I need a title for my express but don't really want to have a whole frame shipped just to replace my already-solid one. Also, if you have any pre-auto-choke carbs I would love to buy one.

Yup, same problem, I went and ground some little channels into the bottom with a dremel so fuel could get to the jet, and still no luck. I can get the bike to start if I aggressively choke it with tape over the carb or something, so it seems to still be running too lean.
Peter D — 11 years ago
Well I got the jets today, the 6mm was too big and the 4.95 mm was a bit too small but stayed in place.. It's way too lean with the 75 though, I think I need at least an 83. It doesn't even run without full choke, and even then it dies after 3-4 seconds. I'm no expert on jetting, but it seems like it might even need something in the low 90s.

Do you have a title for the frame? I would buy just the title and VIN plate for like $10 if so.
Peter D — 11 years ago
My bike is otherwise assembled and just waiting on Power-barn to ship the jets, so we'll see in a few days. It's actually kind of funny right now, because the thing starts up and idles perfectly on a carb with a clogged idle circuit and a totally missing main jet. Somehow the combination of the two maladies has produced the perfect fuel mix to idle well. It dies the moment you even touch

Awesome, so you were able to press it in securely and actually have it work/stay put?
Peter D — 11 years ago
All I really need is the very front plastic part that goes over the headlamp, I have the rest of the assembly.
Peter D — 11 years ago
Cool, keep me posted.
Peter D — 11 years ago
Yeah, I've tried a wire brush wire and it literally won't pass through the end of the tube. There's something in there that has just majorly obstructed it and isn't letting anything through.
Peter D — 11 years ago
I PM'd you about a carb, but I forgot to ask if you have an orange headlamp front cover or maybe just a whole assembly. If so that would be great

After watching fatrat's video on express carbs, I realized that the main jet on my newly acquired express is missing entirely and seems to have disappeared long ago. Is it possible to get a replacement and press it in, or am I stuck buying a whole new carb body? I'm trying to keep costs at a college student level, and this seems like a stupid reason to have to buy a new carb.As a sideno

Is the "carb with gas and oil injector" a pre auto-choke carb? I have a 1978 express with a bad carb and need a replacement.
Peter D — 11 years ago
Thanks, that's what I'm thinking, Wisconsin is a nightmare to even find a moped in good condition in, and then most of them are missing titles anyway. I'll hold out for one with a title though.
Peter D — 11 years ago
He's asking $150 without a title, which is questionable for a bike in this condition in my state. It'd probably be another $200 to get it re-titled..He says the engine does turn over, but no speedo lights while it's being pedaled, which doesn't seem like a good sign to me.Anyway, my goal is really to just get a bike that runs well, not a full restoration, more just for fun. I

I've been looking at a 1980 Moby 50v and just got some clearer pictures from the seller (all in an album here) and it seems to be in pretty rough shape. What can I expect if I buy this? Off the bat I see a broken tail lamp, rust, and missing?/broken throttle? The engine apparently doesn't have spark either, which could be a pretty easy fix or an expensive one depending on the condition of
