1978 concord with a minarelli v1. I have been having timing issues, I think its just my bad soldiering job, I rode it for thirty miles the other day but it was running hot. plates are good until 2015. $250.00
I used a truck kc 12v, works great and has for a few years now.
would to much oil in my crank case cause my moped to backfire and stall or could it be the carb and choke cleaner I sprayed on the cylinder to find a leak, witch I didnt see.????????????
I don't see any bubbles with the carb cleaner when its runing. I wish that was the prob, I will rent a pressure gauge from auto zone this weekend to really find out, any tips using a screw on pressure gauge. vroom vroom
I have gap set to .015 at tdc,24 degrees, per repair manual. and I have tried it with the stator plate all the way to the left and then all the way to the right, seems a little cooler when I turned it to the right but it still burns up my plugs with in a few miles. I am going out to check for leaks now.I did solder my wires on the magneto since they were all disconnected. maybe this will tell you
I don't know a lot but my guess is either a bigger exhaust or smaller jet. I got more out of my sachs505a by cutting the internal muffle pipe off and drilled two bigger holes in the black insert at back of muffler.. The info is on this website search for it. try that first, and it doesn't make it much louder at all.
Hey peders, my moped is running way to hot 1978 concord with a minarelli. I have soldered the magneto wires and adjusted the timing to specs, any suggestions, what causes it to run so hot, also how do i find head or fuel gasget leaks? my piston ring install went flawless guys. thanks allJack
I know we all swear at our mopeds on occasion but I recently caught myself giving it praise after a repair job for running so well. hope the neighbor didn't hear.
Well I got my rings from 77mopeds today, and installed. ran ok, slowed my timing and that seemed to help. still wants to stall some when idling. thats not horrible for now. thanks for the tips and greenmikey for the $8.
will do, thank you. 1977 has them

on my 1982 columbia it is a waste. so many other places for dirt to catch, paper filter slows you down way to much. everyone should clean there carb once a year. On other peds its very important, but not on my concord or columbia. truth bomb
I find that half the wiring problems I come across is cut wires on the down tube.
I had the same with my 78 hobbit, red one like yours. easy out at harbor fieght 8 bucks. new bolts from fasten all 5$. dont sell man.

I have a 82 columbia commuter and I mounted a exterior condensor and have had great luck for 2 years and thousands of miles, make sure you have the rubber gromits on the crankcase for flywheel or make your own, drill out a small rubber stop,or run the wires through fuel line.
sounds plausible, I have dealt with rings some but never had them brake like this. but I wasn't going as slow as I should have. andything else I should be aware of or do. my studs are good, I cleaned my piston, cylinder and head with carb cleaner and then wiped them down with oil, put a bag over piston and tarp over bike outside tonight.
thanks for the advice on how to install, mine crumbled apart when I squeezed them the slightest amount, I have to beleave they were old and rotten, plus I was getting a lot of chatter from the cylinder when running. everything else is good or seemes to be. solid and responds well when I push or pull the piston and rod. ride on jimbo
there is nothing I can say that expresses how appreciative I am of your kindness to a complete stranger. ride on man.
for real Mikey, that's whats cool about fellow mopeders. How much do rings cost? I haven't even looked yet. firstname.lastname@example.orgWhat can I say, thanks sounds empty, but I will pass on the good karma, I am a helper by nature. I have a 5 year old son, and a 2 week old baby girl, my wife is on FMLA and thats why we are short right now, normally it wouldn't be so hard to buy repair
help, I need a pair of minarelli rings, dirt cheap please, I am broke....
I have a 1978 concord with a minerelli. well I was getting a knock in my motor and my plug tips were getting bent over a hair, I took my head and cylinder off all looked good except my rings were missing a 1/8 inch of the ring itself, I thought this was the way they were supposed to be but when I put the cylinder on, or well started to, I held the rings closed, since there was a gap on them, but t
my 5 year old son and I love mopeds, I use to ride and fix motorcycles , but man we love wrenching on these mopeds now. voting doesn't change a thing,(electoral vote) but the way you raise your kids are everything. lets make America better with our children. or if you can mentor a young boy or girl with good values and respect. later all,
i know, is there any height difference?
a title search on a moped in chicago cost $90, my sisster inlaw just did one last month. just tell them you lost your title and you need to do a title search. since it will come back in someone elses name you will then transfer the title to you, you will be out 150-200$$$$ all together. If it is 1983 or older, you dont need a title, just a bill of sale, you can make this affter you bought it, jus
thanks, like I said I am going to take it apart tomorrow, I just thought a few ideas from here might help me, thanks again. this is my daily driver for work, I had to put my trust worthy moped in pawn for some bill money this month.
i have tried a few types that the owners manual says, I have used a champ L86 and a ngk b5hs. I thought a shorter plug as well but the book made me feel like I have a different issue since I am using the correct plug.
would you say I might be to advanced right now?
