2. oil seals on sp93 relay box

Alan Jackson — 17 days ago
Forum: Repair
im trying to choose the right oil seals from a bearing supplier as you cant buy off the shelf seals. but the seals they sell have all different styles R21/SC R23/TC VB and so on and its new to me.someone has had it apart before and may have fitted the wrong seals and they leak oil. plus theyve fitted a 6004 c3 bearing and im sure it should be std clearance. anyone care to point me in the right

3. Re: 50v on a dynojet dyno

Alan Jackson — 6 weeks ago
Forum: Performance
interesting stuff.what the dyno has been invaluable in is testing the pipes ive been making.i made a doppler streetcup mod with longer length but same diameters and that gave more power earlier and peaked at 8k rpm and only 0.6hp down off the std doppler that was mismatched for my relatively low durations 176 126. i then made adjustments to the pipe but found they made it worse, each time we were

i keep blowing bulbs. ive got the le partie or lauter type electronic ignition with regulator but as i get to high revs the bulbs blow. i think the stator is rated at 12v 50 watt? i think ive got a rectifier fitted, got too many peds cant remember whats what,i had fitted 21W front and 10W rear so need to beef up a bit? electrics is not my strong point. can i fit leds that wont blow? if so what wa

ive just read you put into whichever gear is closest to 1:1 ratio and that is usually 3rd or 4th gear.

6. 50v on a dynojet dyno

Alan Jackson — 2 months ago
Forum: Performance
ive got a pal with a dyno. he said he usually puts bikes into third gear for dyno runs.dunno why?so should i adjust my gearing a bit lower to simulate "not in top gear" ishi usually run 13 54 but had 12 54 on for the last runive made a couple of pipes and want to try them out so should keep same gearing for best comparison but what gearing should i put on for an accurate dyno reading?has

7. Re: how to test HP

Alan Jackson — 3 months ago
Forum: Performance
a fantastic way of finding your horsepower if you havent got a dyno, is to find someone who HAS got a dyno. 50v with av10 parmakit 82cc, low comp 135 psi , doppler streetcup pipe making it rev higher than the 176/126 low tune porting wants to. 12/54 gearing hits 62mph gps. 13 54 goes a bit faster as it pulls all the way on the level.

i might just have to do that. i did it on my paloma dasl 2 yrs ago. its not lowering it needs but moving forwards.

9. 90 degree intake to match AV10 polini cases

Alan Jackson — 5 months ago
Forum: Performance
is there anything out there? ive found a few but there is no mention of stud spacing. i normally end up using rubber hose elbows but the silicon ones are shiny and too slippery.the polini cases come with a straight out intake and there is no room for a phbg due to engine swing.i welded up a segmented mild steel one but thats far from ideal(my tig welder wont do aluminium)

i use a nylon pulley bolted to the le partie stator with a tiny cut out. ive found the higher the bite point on the clutch the quicker the leafs wear out. i did one set in a week. then you get amazing fireworks from metal on metal. ive now settled for 4k engagement and get round that by never slowing down.

i have 4 phbg clones and only one has a hole and thats closed off with a brass ballthe others dont.i mean the two tiny holes next to the float valve. not the big holes.does yours have those tiny holes mike boyd? not the big ones.this carb runs poorly but i dont know if its due to my reed valve conversion on an av7 and 2 boost ports i cut that could be pressuring my intake and leaking chinese copy

15. Re: phbg clone 21mm unfamiliar holes

Forum: Repair
in fact ive found another cloned phbg that has one hole but its got a tiny brass ball wedged in to keep it shut.and i found another that has no holes.im guessing they shouldnt be there or the brass balls have fallen out?unless its a new development to aid float filling because they do lead to the sides of the area where the rubber tip of the float valve controls flow.

i have 2 holes either side of the float valve. are they supposed to be there? im tempted to fill them in. are they casting flaws or has a metal eating maggot or worm found its way into my float bowl?i do get an impressive amount of blowback through the carb almost like i have a hose pipe for my pilot jet. and strangely enough it runs.

thanks for that very informative reply. now you explain it i can see the disadvantave of a belt same angle as the cheeks and its reluctance to move outwards. i bought an er86 and found it was no good below 8k rpm even with weights and light springs. i fitted it to a smaller pulley to make it spin faster and it works and bites at low revs on my paloma, until it meets the power of my parmakit motor.

19. Re: strange drive problem

Forum: Performance
stronger spring it is. then a launch lever.im just wondering if i can shape a belt as well, like you did. but to fit the angles ot the er3it isnt gonna hurt if there is more contact areaonly 2 or 3 mm is not logical.

20. Re: strange drive problem

Alan Jackson — 8 months ago
Forum: Performance
2 springs welded/fastened together? or 1 and a half ?my belt is slipping on the er3 cheeks. the belt seems to be too sharp an angle for the cheeks so that only the top 2 or 3 mm is in contact. i have big rubber marks on the cheeks and the belt is red hot.just tried a few test runs.belt angle by alan jackson, on Flickrif i fit too short a belt on, so the spring is under more preload there is only

that video was with the original clutch and pulley. with starter arms removed and rivets added to shorten the clutch leaves so as to bite/stall higher. the engine has low rev porting for rideability. all i want is 6500- 7000 bite/stall point.i did modify a clutch like yours with springs on the leaves but they just wear out in no time with all that spinning.i can add more preload to my contra sprin

i checked swing and i have 32mm of swing with one of the tighter belts on and then it gets too hard to compress the spring anymore by hand, nothing fouling. its a purple or mauve pink spring. if you scroll up a few posts there are 2 pictures one with nylon bushes and one above that with with the name and number on it. nakaru -1000??i will just keep playing adding weights and swapping belts unti

my AV10 motor with std variator clutch (but with clutch starter arms removed) and std pulley and std spring work fine with my 82cc motor no goat. mallossi belt. clutch bite around 5000 rpm.but when i fit an er3 and doppler clutch pulley er86 (modifield) and original spring i get the goat. so its the er3 variator that needs different spring specification.i have made my own spring . i have 4 belts
