All fixed guys. Clutches were likely trying, and what happened was it was actually seized, and I didn't know it. So after I was done upgrading I ended up spending another $100 at treatland for a 6 port cyl and piston. Good to go now after a bit of grinding.
Moto Photog — 7 years ago
No. the reason it was spinning freely (everything) was because it wasn't transferring energy because piston/cyl were seized.

Alright fellas I figured it was something unique. So the last time I shut the bike off it acted like it ran out of fuel, which it did not. I wanted to hear the new Polini pipe. (stupid stupid stupid) Knowing it would create a lean condition without installing the new carburetor that I had sitting RIGHT THERE. Anyway. I squeaked it hard. Time to look for a cylinder/piston kit.Cant really start if

So strange. No. Engine was not apart. Dropped it simply to do upgrades. We've been pulling in choke cable, which I ensured is working properly. I know the engine isn't turning, not only because when it was on the bench I'm turning the pedals by hand and didn't see spark, but I didn't see piston rotating. This is probably going to end up being something silly. I didn't

Hi Guys. good morning. So We took the bike outside and decided to give it a hard pedal. Tried 3 or 4 runs, and its definitely all spinning but not transferring energy to turn the engine assembly. Like someone stated, like the clutch isn't enabling. My only guess is that it is caused by the fact that I have not adjusted the the large tension spring correctly? I have it wound down pretty good. I&

cheetahchrome and Andy, thanks very much. I actually wondered just that. I wondered if it was more of a centerfugal force that I wasn't catching because I was simply trying to turn with one hand up on the bench. I will get home and try to get it going the old fashioned way ;) Take it outside and get er goin.If that is the issue. I'm going to laugh, and please laugh at me/with me :)Thanks

If you're asking about the belt. The belt is on, its relatively tight. Both pulleys are moving.
Moto Photog — 7 years ago
Morning. I do not know about the motor/bicycle lever, but that's exactly what it feels like. Though both pulleys are turning. Both chains, the pedals, everything rotates, but it doesn't feel like energy is transferring to turn crank/piston. I don't know how to "technically" describe it. Which is a bummer. Is the term variate correct? I don't think its transferring and

Hi all. Owner of many motorcycles, and 2 scoots/mopeds. My QT50 and this Peugeot 103. I removed the engine to install Malossi reeds/reedcage, SHA carb, and install Polini pipe and muffler.WOW. I'd never imagined the difficulty of putting the pressure spring back in, with the mounts and aligning the STARS to get the spring/mounts/scoot frame, and engine to line up. it was about the third hour

Mike, thanks for the helpful answer. I guess I need to pretense each and every question I ask with:"I am an owner of many machines, this is my FIRST tuned MOPED.I am new to this"Thanks Mike. ON to it!

Can I ask you guys when you do carb/reedcage work, do you remove the pulleys and drop the engine? I took off the side covers and im just guessing, it looks like a previous owner already did a coil swap. I don't see how I can possibly fit my hands/tools in there to work on carb/reedcage without more room. Advice? Thanks. I'll attach a few photos of said coil.

Goodies are here. Other parts are out of picture. I might get started tonight.

Mac,Yes, you can put a CR80 jug on the MB5 with some modification. I wanted the water-cooled CR85. It doesn't mount by hanging off the head, it mounts in a cradle off the bottom. So you have to fab it up. Then you have to mount the radiator. We cut enough of the frame in a way that we were able to use the original moped bar :)

Thanks guys.Does anyone have a lead on a headlight/taillight/turnsignal set that's wired like a RC car or plane? Basically run off the battery, and if battery dies, unit dies.I don't want to have to mess with sending the stator in to have it rewired. Since i'll never ride the bike for longer than 1hr at a time anyway.

Thanks Graham.Parts should be arriving today. I'll check it out and load a few photos here!If everything installs/mounts ok, i'll take it on a test run, as is, and do a plug chop and see where I'm at

Graham, damn man. Thanks for explaining versus saying "use the search tool"I didn't want to go big bore right off the bat, I read many posts saying not necessary on the 103.I'll purchase it.#2 - Is most fuel line 6mm or 8mm? Is this outside diameter measurement or inside diameter?#3 - are you running an in-line filter?

Hey Wayne, basically, will that part help with bottom end pickup, or would it help with top end mph? Thanks for the link.

Easy and Daniel,Can you guys take a sec and explain to me what those two things do?malossi variotop weights? m6/m7 washer stacks?Would appreciate it, as I'm a vintage moto guy, but just recently admittingly very very new to the moped/scoot/noped world.I know carb work, and i'll work with it if jetting is off. may even do a little porting, and i'll grab a stack of jets for it this a

Mike D,That's crazy! I'm not sure I want to go that fast on a bike with spokes! :-)I'll have to get into all the different balls and belts, I'm still new to this area of moto. Appreciate your guys' insight.I know I'd like the bike to grab a little harder off the gate, but I don't know how or what that consists of. Once parts arrive, i'll start taking photos

Yes, I got this kit with the intake portion. I shot treats a message immediately after the message making sure it would work out. They said I had a good setup. start here.
Moto Photog — 8 years ago
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I hope I got it all. I did end up ordering the reed cage assembly with intake kit. ~$60. Also picked up the 15mm carb, and went with the shiney Polini pipe. I realize this wont be an end all, and there will be more to do. I'll also keep stock parts around a bit.Very nice bike Harvey! I need some nice decals and paint eventually. Gotta start somewhere. There just seems to be so many options on reeds, carbs, exhaust its overwhelming.Goal, not TOO worried on price, is not needing to do fabbing. I want easy drop in, bolt on, and maybe some jetting, for the stock 50cc.
Moto Photog — 8 years ago
Holy smokes. That's quick. I'm just hoping to hit about 38mph where I can hop out onto new roads and not piss anyone off.At 38mph I'd be happy. I'm 100% sure that the exhaust wont fit a stock Peugeot 103, was hoping for suggestion on flange and if anyone has had this pipe on a bike that wasn't a big bore.

Hi all,I had some pretty helpful advice here for help on moms Honda Express.I have a Peugeot 103 that runs well, tops out at about 31mph flat ground.I've emailed treatland and have gotten 2 responses, very helpful. But as always, I feel like theres more to ask. Would this be a good start if I want to stick with a 50cc for a bit? My model is 1977 U3.malossi VL8 4 petal carbon fiber reed block

Cole, it is ronery headlight. Actually that headlight was just bolted on as a "plz leave me alone! KTHX! Just test riding!!"

All,Thanks for your help. It was a success! The new belt arrived. I carb cleaned EVERY crevis that I could. Removed the clutch pack assembly at the rear and wiped, carb cleaned the entire thing, slapped it together, and its like new. Not sure what top speed it will hit but it will be good enough! Parents arrived back in town, and my wife and I headed over to my parents house. She loved it!
Moto Photog — 8 years ago
Thanks fellas. The tech at treatland told me the same. He said do carb, do reeds and maybe derestrict that pathetic looking coffee can ("pipe").It does run well as it currently is. Prev. Owner was a young kid, which always scares me, but he had a new belt installed, and of course some hipster stickers, so I figured meh, what the hell. Cant lose for a titled, happily running, 103 for $50

Missing the chrome stripe for the left side of the tank. The foot runners that go above the engine, those are cracked. Not bad but not good.

Not nearly as DErP as that one thread makes me out to be.http://www.mopedarmy.com/forums/read.php?7,3825480YES, feel like a dunce about the oil, but hey someone did the same thing to the other side lmao. Fixing tomorrow when treats belt shows up.
