2. Chain tensioner?

Dave — 11 years ago
Forum: Performance
On my Puch Maxi - how important is it?I have fitted an uprated swingarm to fit my 2.75 tyres on and it's all good everything fits and it looks great - only problem I there is nowhere for the chain tensioner pedaling side to fit. I'm wondering how important it is? Can I run without it?I don't want to lose my pedals asA: nowhere to put my feet when ridingB: without pedals it's no

A different exhaust will change the note mate - there is a page on here somewhere that describes all of the aftermarket exhausts superbly. It will also give you more power as the standard puch cigar pipe doesnt have any 'expansion chamber' so you'll get better noise and a more efficient engine! :)

Forum: Performance
Hello chaps and chapesses - I'm just wondering what sort of BHP figures these little engines put out when modded? Purely out of curiosity :)My PUCH Maxi had 2hp standard for example, now I have fitted;K-Star/DMP 70cc kit15mm bing with needle on second from bottom notchFoam air filterBi-turbo exhaustWhat would you expect from it in terms of power figures?

So... Does anyone know the rough hp output of my k star 70cc kit with 15mm bing and biturbo? Bout 320bhp?

I'm completely new to bikes of any kind and bought a maxi 2 months ago in need of a rebuild. I've nearly finished now, in fact the engine is done - I stripped it and fitted all four new bearings in the case, a DMP racing conrod, and DMP/k-star 70cc piston head and cylinder and a bing 15mm carb along with a foam filter and a Biturbo exhaust. Will I have to be careful with how high I rev i

Brill thanks buddy! I imagined maybe an old car engine mount with the studs cut off thanks for the pics :D

Old thread alert! Anyone done the seat mod described above but then propped the back up so the seat is level? I'm just wondering how people might have done it. I'm going to mod my seat tonight but I dont really want the mad angle at the front of the seat as it's goin to be my daily commuter and it doesn't look like it'd be pleasant on the old testiculay

thankyou very much matey very useful! I've managed to catch the thread and wind it up sufficiently and its got rid of almost all the play - the only thing Im wondering now is, is it best to wind them in as much as possible with them resting naturally about where they need to be or is it preferable to wind them in further so they are past the point of 'resting naturally in place' for

Just a quick reply.I might have sounded defensive as in a way I was being. I didnt appreciate the tone of posts - people insinuating not only that I was 'dumb' but that my bike didn't exist! Im sure other people might jump on the defence too.And no - the bike won't be stripped down because I've given up! I got it about 2 months ago, I'm a car man and have never owned

Just to clarify it IS a Puch Maxi Super - it says that on its registration certificate and a quick google brings up other examples. Perhaps its a Europe only thing that never crossed the pond? Who knows. As far as 'less contact area' I'm not mounting the tyre to a hulahoop... Its a relatively thin wheel but not absurdly so. The tyres are now on and look superb - they also look gripp

greatsnowy, sorry Im not sure what you mean exactly - So If I drop the wheel away from the front forks, what should I do then? The lower bits of the forks (the chromed bits) spin around - should they be wound around before putting the wheel back on? How are they held in?

Haha 25 dollars might be a bit cheap for a transatlantic postal service :)The play is up and down so if you lean on the bars that's where the play is if you know what I mean

I have just got my Kenda 657 17x2.75 tyres and I'm trying to fit them to my standard PUCH maxi wire wheels.I fitted the inner tube and partly inflated it and managed to get the wheel and inner tube inside the tyre but trying to get the bead to sit in the rim of the wheel is very difficult, what is the best way to do it?

Hi I have the exact same problem at the moment. Do you just mean that egg you pull the lever, the clutch arm needs to be fully pressing against the side? I really can get my head round it unfortunately and it's halting my progress!

Hi guys I'm restoring an 83 maxi and I'm now trying to refit the arm and spring that go on the outside of the clutch case (it's an E50) I'm not sure how best to do it? Or even exactly how it's supposed to be fitted? Does the clutch cover have to come off to fit it properly?

Hi guys, my e50 on my puch maxi is totay rebuilt. New bearings, conrod, piston, cylinder, head etc... Filled it with oil only to find a few says later the oil is slowly seeping out from between the case halves :( full strip down again k guess? Or is there anything I can do without stripping it again? Getting serious fed up of this build now!
