Hello All,I am purchasing an Avanti SS moped and I just want to get some information about it... I am pretty sure they come with Garelli engines but that is about it. Does anyone have anymore information about these bikes that may be useful?

which part is the electric ignition? before I blew up the previous engine everything worked perfect now with the new engine all lights even the one that says the high beam is on work but not the headlight and tail light. The brake light turn signals and the high beam indicator all work. The only thing I changed was just the engine I have everything hooked back up i double checked today

Anyone in MD want to help me repair a Motobecane with a 70cc parmakit? I am willing to pay for assistance I live near Westminster MD. Let me know! I put the kit on I just cant get it to run it shoots gas out of the intake of the carb and I can get it to kinda run but just wont idle or stay running.

Thanks, I am going to try the timing first I'm assuming that needs to be redone first but if I still have trouble I will try the 14.12 carb. I just hope it is the timing.

Before I jump into this adventure of setting the timing is that more than likely what is wrong? Just didnt know if anyone is experienced with these bikes.

I have a Motobecane with a 70cc Parmakit, dellorto sha 16.16 carb, and an upgraded pipe (i think called a ninja).I had the kit put on by a shop and they said they couldnt get spark. I fixed the spark problem it was just the spark plug ignition part.My problem now is I can get the bike to barely start and pour out smoke but I cant get it to run full throttle or idle... I have messed with the screw

I have a 1983 Honda PA50ii that I recently swapped the engine out on. I put the engine from another pa50ii on to my frame. Prior to the swap my lights all worked great headlight, brake light, turn signals ect...After the swap all my lights work except headlight and running tail light. Any ideas? Is there something wrong with the new engine electrical? It just seems weird that it used to all work b

I was back home this past weekend and found a guy cleaning out his garage and there was a garelli 2 speed engine still has compression and spark. I am not sure what they are going for these days but for the right price I would sell this one. Just post me an offer.

Are these engines worth a lot of money or something? Or are they just really hard to find?
Michael Burke — 11 years ago
Does that look right?
Michael Burke — 11 years ago
Here are the pics of the one engine that I have i'll post another with the other engine.

Cool, thank you that helps out a lot. I think what I am going to do is clean the whole bike real well then just put it back together and see where I'm at. I have compression so I guess the next thing to check is spark and then work on the carb situation. I'll def keep that clutch in mind though. Thanks again!

I just picked up a Garelli rally sport and a Garelli sport maybe super sport. The rally sport is a 2 speed and is the most complete so I think that I am going to rebuild that one. The sport one is in shambles and doesn't have any compression.Does anyone have any suggestions for me before I get into this adventure? I have rebuilt puch's and honda's but am just seeing if there are any

Just an update for everyone because I am hoping that this post can be used for everyone who buys an old moped because out of the 6 I own 5 had old gelled up gasoline in the tanks. I have the bike engine taken off and the tank soaking in a salt vinegar solution. So far a lot of sedement has come out but not enough to relinquish my worries.Next step is soaking the tank in acetone for 3 full days whi

Michael Burke — 11 years ago
Thats awesome, thank you for the idea... What I'm thinking is making something for my drill with steelwool on the end and break loose everything then soaking it with sea foam and maybe another acid bath. Thanks for the idea I'll give it a shot tomorrow!

So I have a 1978 Puch Maxi that had gas sit in it for over ten years... I have used muratic acid 5 times with nuts and bolts to try to clean it out but it still keeps clogging my carb and petcock.I read the wiki and tried the options listed on there but nothing I do seems to work....Being that the tank is part of the bike does anyone know how I can get all that jelled up gas out of there? The mura
