Those ~20hp engines are pushing 2000 lb cars up to 55mph in less than 30 seconds. that doesn’t sound like much, but it’s way faster than most traffic moves or accelerates. You would never notice that you were less powerful than the other cars driving in town.My biggest concerns are hills. Mountains really. I have a, let’s say, unique perspective of underpowered vehicles going over mountains and re

I love Robot Cantina!Following his stuff has inspired me. Which is where my comments are coming from about wanting to build my own car this coming year.Shit is cheap. Lawn mower engines, “torque converter” cvt belt drives. He’s tossing this stuff into lightweight chassis and getting 70+mpg for cheap.Imagine a car that only has parts you can buy at harbor freight for pennies on the dollar compared

Okay…So, I’m not saying this was really good. Maybe it could inspire some better attempt, but Imma share anyways.Inverse nachos?Sprinkled some shredded cheese on parchment in the oven. Let it get brown and almost crispy. 375*. Once it cools a bit, cut triangle chips with kitchen scissors. As they cool more, they get crispier.Since I’m eating pemmican, I took a couple chunks and added my normal tac

I want to agree but also want to argue. So,Dellorto did not invent carburetors. Also, they probably outsource their manufacturing to low cost manufacturers as much as anyone else. The difference is you can buy directly from the manufacturer (low wage factories in less developed areas) and pay less. Or pay top dollar for some millionaires (billionaires) to put their name on a product and ship it in t

I have passed notes with my coworker and decided a best course of action will be to build something like this with a pizza oven directly between the fire box and smoke cabinet and a sauna off to the side. 3 in 1 combo.

This big dice tower skull is a great example for me to try to explain my thinking. The blue circle shows imperfections in the layers and that is probably mechanically induced. The green circle shows perfectly straight vertical ridges created by either stepped motors making “big” steps or the radius of a round skull being compressed into fewer tiny straight lines since infinite arc points would be a

Juice, and the squeeze.I once got an earful from my boss at my day job when he found out I was working weekends and some other days for my local township. We mowed cemeteries and filled potholes. That kinda work. Real low brow stuff.Boss couldn’t believe I would do that. He was like: “If you want more hours, we can give you more overtime here and it will be more than double what they’re paying you.

I think you make some good points. It’s a weird situation where noobs would be best off having no radical variables in a carb and just buy the real ones. If so, they may never need another and swear thats the only way to go.Experienced tuners, with secure finances, might just prefer to avoid the nonsense altogether.I feel like, for me, the value is there because I know how to baby the cheap ones,

Just loaded the grill and alternated lowest heat settings to different areas to try to keep from cooking it. But I wanna follow Graham’s smoker instructions to do jerky (and other things).About 3.75 lbs of lean bison made 1 lb 3 oz of dried jerky. Gonna try some cheap beef from Walmart. I have a suspicion that once it’s dry, there will be way less jerky proportionally.

Do you guys know if the motors are giving position feedback through encoders or potentiometers?I feel like some of the texture the Ender ends up with that isn’t in the model is a result of there being finite positions in the location or maybe it just reduces the positions in some sorta digital compression to make the file manageable for such a lil baby processor. But yeah, that silky smooth surface

German sausages in Germany stood out to me as being much leaner than American style. Like, they were dense and solid. More like toob meatloaf than mostly fat.Even “German style” stuff sold here in the US is basically the same mix of fat/meat as johnsonville but maybe seasoned a little different.

Here’s a pemmican based recipe. Yeah there’s veggies but only 7.5g carbs per serving.1 medium white onion diced1 medium turnip tiny diced1 tablespoon minced garlicSome mushroomsPuck of pemmican.Do your own seasoning. I did the same as I would for corned beef hash but added a little worcestershire sauce because it plays well with mushrooms.Add an over-medium egg and some hot sauce to make it even

That does look good.I reported that I had amazing success with PETG. some say not so much. I googled it and read that moisture wrecks it. Even new it can be “wet”.So, the stuff I used was in storage here in the desert for 2 years. To describe it as completely desiccated would be accurate. If you have any issues with PETG, bake that stuff dry for days and then try again. I would be willing to bet th

I think one of the biggest issues with any transportation issue is just the bulk and complexity making the cars very inefficient.VW made that tandem 1L diesel car that got hundreds of miles per gallon. Not a concept. They actually did it.“The future” portrayed in movies has carbon fiber aerodynamic idealistic personal vehicles. No doubt the battery capacity : range for something like that would lo

Des dust could have contributed but I think the real killer was the oil leak attracting more contamination.I told the dog about it, she’s been inconsolable for days.

That sounds like a soft seize. Removing the air filters and messing with the exhaust may have changed air/fuel mix enough to lean out your tune. Or, there’s just an airleak somewhere. Or both.Check for airleaks, make sure all is sealed up well and you might have to increase your jetting.

I have promised my mind and soul that I will never buy another car.I am done with the price gouging auto industry and their damn upsell of tens of thousands of dollars of perfectly designed obsolescence. My next purchase looks like an amazon dual sport. I’m trying it. Even if I have to buy 2 brand new ones every year for the rest of my life it’s cheaper than owning a car.Maybe walking? or a bicycle

I jumped into wheel building because I thought it was something I could learn and save money doing it myself. That is not the case. You need to buy stuff. Like a trueing stand and good nipple wrench. The old spokes are not reusable. Don’t even try. So basically you are buying a rim and spokes/nipples to put on your old hub.If I was giving advice, I would say it’s better to just buy complete wheels

Well, I bought one. $270. ☹️New belt and tensioner pulleys. It’s working fine but I’m still a little pissed about the commutator basically being unserviceable. Before I decided to buy a rebuilt unit I tried to take down the old alternator all the way.Couldn’t get it apart and not sure if you even can without desoldering shit.We needed two cars before next week and I just couldn’t keep messing with

Well, new brushes need proper commutator to rub up on. The metal has peeled away from 80% of the inner bit.A bit of a setback and I dunno if I want to wait the shipping again or just go buy a reman 🫤
