Is that a rear disk brake?
Chris Straub — 6 days ago
I definitely remember making a crazy bracket so that we could bolt the muffler to the stock mount. The jury is out on whether that saved us time or not.

I love these guys! B.C. Nick hooked me up with one when I was up in Ohio a few years ago, and have since sold it to a friend here in town, and helped him get it quicker with some easy mods. The intake is like 19mm stock! I’ll try and get some current pics/info up. I know he’s now running an 18 mikuni on an old school curvy intake which I’m pretty sure you hooked us up with.

Had this exact thing happen on a Tomos I was trying to help someone with a couple years ago. Piston moved freely, but the studs just had a death grip on the cylinder and would not let it go. Snapped fins off trying to pry it loose. Studs and nuts just kept stripping using the double method. Told them I’d try and help again later but don’t think we ever did get back together to try again. I got you. Do you need specific internals, or just whatever’s in there?

I like where this is going! Get your piston to deck height for a good squish just under<1mm, then make sure your ports are cleared and tight/dressed and open.

First moped I ever bought was stolen from the exact same scenario you described. Parked directly in front of where I work, and I sit in front of a window that looked out at the bike. Went and did something in the back for like 15 mins. Came back, sat down and looked out to see my bike was gone.

I’m enjoying reading this thread, but everyone please stop using the “quote” button to exponentially increasing the bs footprint we end up having to scroll through forever! Or at the very least just go through and delete the vast chunks that don’t pertain to the response that’s being replied to before posting…or am I just an idiot and people are doing this on purpose? Either way, it sucks and g

Damn, really sad to read this. Had a few buy/sell experiences with him over the years, and he was always straightforward and a pleasure to deal with. You could tell he really was passionate about this hobby and loved buying/selling/learning about mopeds and helping out others here too with his parts and knowledge. RIP Avery

These are so quiet...I tried starting one after going through it and didn't even realize it had fired up because of the random background noise going on the the street. Surprised the hell out of me when I pulled the throttle and it lunged forward haha

Good deal, GLWS!

I cut down and tape on these paper sewing rulers. They’re like 2+ ft long so there’s enough for like 20 motors.

Forgot to mention to make sure to wear eye protection while you try to spray cleaner in that spot, and make sure to have all rubber and plastic components removed as well when you do this.

I learned my lesson about how to properly lock my bikes up after losing that one, live and learn!
Chris Straub — 3 months ago
Seconded on giving the carb another good clean and make sure you put the end of the red straw coming off the brake or carb clean directly on top of the idle circuit hole and blast the shit out of that spot. This tiny guy right hereAs already mentioned, if this is gummed up at all in there then the bike won’t stay running at idle, only when you have the throttle pulled open.

How'd that washer find it's way onto the side of your piston?
