There's no way I can get it new bearing for it instead? I just bought that one.
bump.. what kind of bolt goes in the center of the clutch plate?
I think I'm missing the little thing that goes in the middle of the clutch plate. Is that just a bolt or something that I can buy?
I just got a new clutch cover that has the arm and stuff on it, but I don't know exactly how it works. I've tried to find pictures of how it should look, and how it starts the moped, but I haven't had any luck. If anyone has any suggestions as to what I need to do, it would be sweet!
Well there's my problem then, I don't have anything else to go outside of the cover at the moment. Looks like the dude I bought it from stripped a lot of stuff off of it and didn't really let me know...
Thanks for the pictures, they definitely helped. I'm missing parts 14-22, awesome. It gets better and better haha.
Does it hook onto the pressure plate at all? Or am I just missing some parts?
Im trying to put a clutch cable on my Puch Maxi, because it didn't have one when I got it, but I can't figure out where it hooks to. Any suggestions?
Another question, how do I hook the cable to start it on to that?
The clip is the only thing that holds it on? Well thats a lot more simple than I expected.
I just got a new pressure plate to go on my Puch Maxi's clutch, do I need to buy a bolt to attach it to the clutch, or do I just unscrew the nut on the clutch to put the plate on?
I just took a better look at it, and the wire is broken. Are all wires created equal for speedos or do I need to get a Puch specific cable?
Well that's some good news. Thanks!
So I was testing out the new pedals and chain I just put on my '78 Maxi, when the loose speedometer cable (the front tire is from a bike) got caught in it and twisted up pretty good. The sleeve on the cable split open and part of a wire is all curled up and looks like it snapped. Is it broken? Or is that just some other wire protector.
Hey, can I use a regular bike chain for the pedal drive on a puch?
Alright, thanks for the links and stuff, this makes it a lot more manageable. Would I be able to use a from tire off of another moped? This one has a smaller bike tire on it, which I don't know if it's very safe. Plus I want the speedometer as well as the front brakes to work.
Do you know if I can get those parts off of a salvaged moped like an old Sachs? I'm a broke college student, and they guy at the salvage place was giving me some deals on stuff there. I can get a clutch lever and cable there for 3 dollars. Is the clutch plate a only for puch thing? Or would it be possible to get one off of another brand? Thanks!
Here's what's going on with the clutch.
Does anyone know if I can take the clutch lever and cable off of a bavarus moped and put it on here? I found one at a local salvage yard.
Actually, it's probably in there to do the job of that lever, except all the time. There are some cables running up to the left grip through, I know that some of them are for the missing switches that I believe should be there, but maybe one of them goes with that lever? That would save me some trouble of taking this thing apart with no real space to do it at besides my apartment's porch
Awesome. How would I do anything with the nail when the clutch is spinning away though?
That's what I was afraid of...there is no short lever on my left grip..
Thats what I was thinking, I only have a cell phone to take pictures with, so since it's dark out the pictures would really suck. I bought some bike pedals but I have to find the right bolts to fit them onto since they don't fit with the ones they came with. I'll try to have some pictures up tomorrow morning. The guy I bought it from was riding it and said he push started it? I have
Hey guys, I just found this website after frantically searching for ways to fix the '73 Puch Maxi I just bought. Now that I've calmed down and reminded myself it was VERY cheap, I need to ask for some help. I bought it without a clutch cover (which I think more of the clutch assembly is missing too), the pedals are missing, I just put a chain on the pedal section today, but my bike pedal
So it looks like the deal with this other guy is falling through, anyone want it still? If you do, shoot me an email.
I can't spend 500... It needs to be fairly cheap.
Does anyone have any mopeds for sale around mid-michigan?
Hey, I found someone that wants to come and get it tomorrow, but if for some reason they dont, then i'll let you guys know.
Alright I'll send you an email
I can't find out how to get the clutch plate and cover put on so it'll start, I'm having issues putting a brake cable on it, I need a taillight on it, it has a regular bike tire on the front. I'm not really sure, I got it in bay city for $100, and it wasn't until I did some research that I found out a lot of things were missing from it.
