Jakaan . . .or anybody . . .Anybody have a wiring diagram for a <General 5-Star > moped (around 1979 to 1982 vintage) ? That is apparently the same as the G4 moped, except that it doesn't run a Sachs engine.I have had no luvk finding either the G4 or 5-Star wiring diagrams anywhere . . .Motor is fantastic . . . but (sob) . . . NO TURNSIGNALS!!!CAdy

UM . . . Unless I'm mistken, and although their website calls it one - that AIN'T NO MOPED, bub. That, is a small motorcycle (see my previous post about their website).Really neat, but NOT a moped. And unless the laws down there are radically different from the rest of the States and Canada with regards to what consitutes a 'moped' (generally 30mph max / must have pedals / singl

http://www.np-motorsports.com/products.htmCheck out the flood of Jailing (Chinese made) mini-bikes on this site. All are definately NOT MOPEDS even the NPT50-M. And, thus are not legal to register as a moped (no pedals / manual trannys). They are really small motorcycles - but really cool!Heavens.Remember the 70's Chopper 50 moped??Well, too bad these NOPEDs don't have pedals . . . they

Thanks Jaakan . . .But I am still looking for the wiring diagram for a Sachs G4 (similar to a General 5 Star) with the Sachs 505/D1 engine.I have a battery and turnsignals also on mine.CAdy

Okay, you speed demons . . .I have a general question regarding 'SPEED' and 'SINGLE-SPEED' transmissions of the usual moped type.My Sachs G4 has a centifugal wet clutch and the usual single speed chain drive. However, my old (and far less powerful) Motobecane 40v had a variator belt drive, which allowed a gradual change in gear ratie (due to the contracting pulley on the engine

. . . okay, my LAUGH of the day was:<<a moped gang made up of little old ladies>>very funny!By the way, my old Motobecane 40v was a REAL <SHAKER!>Hey, with NO rear suspension (hardtail) and dead front oil shocks, it WAS a SHAKER to ride! My new old 'ped, the G-4 is MUCH better, since it's long wheelbase, and fairly soft front and rear suspension and DECENT saddle are a

CHRIS!!You ACTUALLY HAVE wiring diagram(s) for the Sachs G-4!?Wow!I will be eternally greatful for them (scans or whatever), whenever you can dig them up!I have checked the Balboa / Westlake scans on this site - pretty faded, and not really the same as the G-4.Also, there seems to be a G-3 wiring diagram too . . .I am still having spotty luck with the indicators, but tonight - I took a blast in th

re: wiring diagram for Sachs.I searched and found this:https://www.mopedarmy.com/forums/discuss/1/19611/19520/If you go there, there is a diagram that is supposed to be for a Sachs G-3 . . .I have yet to find one for the G-4 (my 'ped)My machine has a battery and turnsignals so the diagram would be different again . . .Anybody out there have one for a Sachs engined 'ped with the 505/1d mo

anybody got any ideas on LOAD BALANCING a wiring system?I mean, so that the battery / turnsignal / brake light and horn WORK properly on my 'ped?Battery is new / magneto is charging / rectifier is OK (I checked it) and all lamps are in place. . .Do the REAR signal bulbs have to be the same wattage as the front ones? If so, why does the BRAKE lamp (which is a single lamp) not need 'balanc

THIS IS A REPOST TO MOVE IT UP THE LINE - I still need help! Thanks to the people who have volunteered suggestions already . . .I have NO current flowing to the battery on my G4 (SAchs 505/1d motor)The magneto coil for the ignition is fine and the one that runs the headlight and rear light.BUT, the brakelight, and the turn signals (which operate on the rechargeable lead-acid battery) are dead.I rec

Hi Brian . . .Well, I just RE-licenced my 'ped, and combined with my auto insurance (one small 4x4 and a 1987 Fiero Gt), the moped rate is $28 month, but I have to pay it all up front FIRST then claim back the months I don't use it (November to March) . . .Sometimes you can get a bit less with a specially insurer that does motorcyles. In ONtario, all you need is 3rd party liability (don

If you can read a bit of French, there are lots of diagrams of Moby motors / parts - I can't see a wiring diagram, though.I had a Motobecane 40v for 20 years . . . got her running last month for the first time in years . . .As for the wiring, it's pretty simple - write down all wire locations / teminations / colours - then do continuity checks on them to see where they go.A lot of corros

WD-40 doesn't have enough flammability to go bang under compression, like gas . . .gotta use ether (starting spray)as Matt says, find the carburator (side of the engine opposite the exhaust pipe), and where the air goes in to mix with the gas, there must be a cover (airbox) with a wire clamp or hose clamp attaching it to the carburator (carburator has the fuel line going into it) . . .go to a

Hey Don . . . !!!That's the first thing I checked . . . (bulbs are 6 volt / battery is 6 volt and lots of acid in it - correct level)The problem came about during a 6 km ride - at the start, I was getting turn signals and brake lights - no problem, even before I started the 'ped (shows that the battery WAS charged then)AFter about 4 km, the signals stopped working and the brake light was

please remove Chuck Russo's thread with pic of his 'stash'!this has no place on the moped army siteit will just generate another 'Omar' thread, if left postedI pass no judgement on drugs - just that the topic is not relevant

commercially available 'ether' spray (called starting spray)just use a TINY bit, as it isn't great for the motor (no lubrication)I spray a tiny bit of WD-40 into the intake FIRST - then the spray, then crank it over.if you get NOTHING with a clean plug and reasonable compression, you have a fuel delivery problem (or a crankcase leak)could be lotsa stuff, but try the spray first.B

I'd rather have seen a less 'post modern' look and more of the traditional (80's / 90's) CRUISER look.Look for a pic of a Suzuki GZ250 and you will see what I mean. There's no reason that SOMEBODY can't make a nice, low-slung moped cruiser like that.If FANTIC could make a Chopper 50 in 1972, that faithfully replicated the 'chopper ' look (see pics on th

Go to the 'RESOURCES' page on this site, there are some articles on basic MOPED maintanence . . .you need to check for spark (just remove the (good) sparkplug, ground the plug to metal on the engine, and crank it over - if you get spark, you SHOULD get ignition - if you are getting fuel mixture through the carbcheck for clogged needle valve / float problemsVERY CAREFULLY, try a BIT of st

UMMM . . . but, if it has NO pedals and is 50 cc . . . and is KICK-start . . . it ain't a 'ped . . .SO, what good is THAT?I have a Sachs (General) G4 . . . sure wish they'd do an update on that one . . .Perhaps a nice knockoff of the Suzuki GZ250 . . .Now THAT would be a great little cruiser . . .So, let's see:==> GZ250 style cruiser body==> 49 cc / with pedals (hey, they

Yes, but with the revival (not just the TOMOS 'Revival' !!) of 'peds underway, SURELY somebody might just realize the aesthetics of a larger rim / tire size for peds. With modern radial tire technology, the tires could be made with a center strip that would ensure that the drag was as low as possible, but with lots of sideways and stopping traction . . .I think we should pose this t

I couldn't resist this . . . anybody capable of riding a 'ped with the helmet on backwards just MUST be capable of riding with his or her HEAD on BACKWARDS, too. (physiologically speaking, an impossibility - but philosophically, haven't we all seen the analogue of this??)CAdy

yes, the Sachs 505 series - BUT, try to get a 505/1D . . . it is 2.7 hp and a full 40 cc!!!!I have one on my G4, and it has LOTS of torque for a relatively small motor on a BIG 'ped with BIG me riding it!

My 'ped has auto transmission fluid in the wet clutch and gearboxseems to work ok . . .I was thinking of putting straight SAE 30 in and adding Molyslip GEAR ADDITIVE . .. I was told not to!I was gonna add some 'MetalOil' additive to the fluid, though.B

Hey, anybody know where one could find a replacement wheel for the standard 17" x 2 1/2" rim / tire on mopeds that is like the one on the Fantic Chopper 50 (see the Fantic listing in the photos section and then check out the scan of the brochure)The text says that the 'ped has a 500 x 16" Boranni alloy rim and the tire looks nice and fat . . . wow.I'd LOVE to have that on

Speaking of HIDDEN TREASURES . . . my G4 is SUPPOSED to have come with a tool kit . . . damned if I can figure where it was supposed to go! I can't figure out how to lift the seat, and the compartment on the side is filled with the battery and flasher relay.a MYSTERY.

My SAchs G4 has a Wheatstone bridge . . . full wave rectifier - and I can't figure out why, except that the flashers might operate a bit better on DC . . .I have thought about using a cheap pin-on flashing LED safety lamp - the kind that runs on 4 of those flat round cells = 6v - and with the appropriate resistor to fake out the flasher relay, use it to replace the old indicators on my G4 (w
