Yeah sounds like the issue is somewhere else. Without knowing your whole setup, having a big squish band won't stop it from running. I ran mine daily for years before deciding to dial it in. Having to run full choke tells me there's an air leak somewhere though...

Yeah it's wild, your review on them is what made me want to try them out haha. Maybe with the correct Pietcard coil they'd work better? I assumed the Treats cdi voltage is what was killing mine, but I'm admittedly terrible with electronics.

Yeah for sure, I ran it for years with the huge squish and it wasn't too bad. You definitely notice better take off once the squish is corrected to ~1mm. With the huge squish the compression was lower and IMHO made the kit almost seize proof. Like I said though, you can get this kit going pretty fast (50mph+) even with the huge squish band. I have this head and it took my temps down from 380f

x2 what Graham said. That box is great for the first 5 minutes before it dies. Maybe you can figure it out, but I went through 4 before I just gave up. Set timing at 18deg BTDC and forget about it...

It's this guy right?https://www.treatland.tv/puch-70cc-reed-valve-kit-especiale-p/puch-reed-kit-especiale.htmYeah you can get counter sunk heads on Treats to fix that squish. Either way, you can still go 50mph+ with that squish corrected or not. Better low end if you fix it though...

That seller is selling a couple mopeds, they've been on craigslist for months down here in San Diego. Definitely talk them down.

On my e50 a lean bog at wot is a constant droning noise, like a really loud hum. If I run it too rich, it will sporadically 4 stroke.

Gazelles. You can install them one handed by laying a trash bag over the rim and pressing the tire on. Easy peasy.

Got em, thanks!

Check your belt tension. If it is too loose, it will be really hard to start.

Ok cool, makes sense. The hobbit runs fairly well as it is. I'll play around with the cable and slide to get it fine tuned. Thanks for the verification!

Bolted up VM18 to my Hobbit and noticed a hole under the Idle mix screw. I've had several VM20's and never saw this on any of them. Can someone verify if this is supposed to be here, or a casting flaw like I'm thinking? Really high idle unless its turned all the way in with a 17.5 jet. I'm guessing this is what's throwing off my idle. Thanks for any help!

It's a god damn moped. You could throw some pool noodles back there for suspension and be fine.

Looking for a hobbit stator plate/points setup, mine stopped putting out power. Going to tinker with it but figure it's time for a newish one anyways. Let me know shipped to 93454, thanks.

Glad you're ok, hope you heal up soon.Just take a lawn chair and a good book to the school and wait it out, she'll be back.

Maybe a small air leak somewhere? Once your bike warms up it closes off and causes your bike to be too rich? I dunno just a guess.

Cool congrats! Glad to know that dillinger bozo didn't end up with all the 5 star tanks for his dui beach cruiser things.

Bringing a hobbit back from the dead, when I get home I'll pm you with what I need.

Looks nice and all, but 10g's to still have drum brakes and only go 44mph?

There was a pretty good article somewhere online that made the argument that amazon should buy them out and do their own deliveries. Made a lot of good points.

That's really cool! I like that they had the marlboro helmet in the picture, just makes you picture that big spoiler on his F1 car.

No kidding, I knew it had an effect but didn't think it would be that drastic. I actually used your method in the wiki to verify TDC Ken, turns out I was about a mm off from where I had it marked. Nice to be able to cruise at 50mph and be at 350F. Thanks for all the help guys.

Had some success today, double checked my timing and reset it to 14 degrees btdc and switched out my plug for a B8HS. Hit a high of 336f at wot for a mile and got to 50.1mph. Suffered a casualty though, ye olde trail tech temp gauge shit the bed during the run...gave me one final reading of 25f before just flashing three bars.

I'll give 14 degrees a shot. Tried running a bu8h plug since it reduces temps, but my cdi does not like it at all. Very rough idle and it sputters when giving any throttle. Had the right boot that supposedly works with it but no luck. Thanks

Yeah it's weird that it runs this hot, I have to be overlooking something. I'm gonna space the cylinder up a little and see what happens. Thanks for the input dudes. Kinda nice to know this kit can hit 450f and still be ok though haha!
Ismael . — 7 years ago
Hmm you could be right. I did case match the transfers, matched the piston opening to the opening in the cylinder, and opened up the reed block. I'll throw in the 195 that came in my VM20 and see what happens to the temps. Thanks

Geared right now at 16x40 on a two shoe clutch. E50Did a compression check at I'm at 145psi, which seems kinda high since it's probably higher than that if you don't count the rubber hose. Going to space out the base gasket a little and see if that does anything temperature wise.
