I found this nice diagram using a hacksaw to look down into the plug : http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/plugchop.html
It's oil. Is that fine or should I down jet from 88 to 86?
How about the oil at the bottom of the ground electrode ?
Road all day in hot humid weather, 87 degrees. NGK B7HS plug, E50 engine, 15mm Bing, 88 jet, 70cc Kstar, Techno Boss Exhaust, HiFlow metal air Filter. Performance was sometimes boggy when I first give throttle from a stand still, after about 1/4 throttle it responds great and then goes nice and fast. Never died on me at idle...How does the plug look ?
Yeah man, let a pro do it, so many variables, pay the cash and get it done by a pro. His hourly price is VERY reasonable, just contact him via email, very responsive.
Hey everyone, just wanted to share my experience with a moped tuner here on the boards, MikeGeez. He contacted me via email and explained his experience level and builds he has done in the past. We went back and forth a few times in email and he seemed very trustworthy. I was under the gun on getting my moped tuned because I'm leaving for Memorial Day vaca out of town. So he showed up to my ho
So I exhausted all efforts tuning my puch maxi with 70cckstar kit. I am looking for someone to work/tune up my ped one evening this week. I'm heading on a 4 day vaca this weekend and want to be able to ride. I'm leaving Friday morning so it has to be in the next 3 days. (evening)I live in the northwest suburbs of chicago so I'm looking for someone local who can drive to my place and
Definitely not lazy, I truly appreciate everyones feedback here. I did read the long write up about timing/plugs that you linked, which I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. I'm going to read it over and over.I usually post here during work hours so when I get home I have a ton of info with me when I open the ped up. I personally don't know anyone with my setup so I can't
I've been reading that wiki like it's a bible ! Last thing on my list was the timing to make sure the ped is in great working order. There are so many variables with these peds and it's hard to get down a workflow.I get how to time a stock e50, but now it has a 70cc kit, I keep reading that the stator can be fully advanced, but the points can be manually manipulated to where u need t
Yeah I'm going colder plug from a stock e50. I do know how and when to plug chop, and during the break-in period it sounded lean. Checked the plug and it was light brown. This was when the needle was at 3 notches from the top.Honestly, still researching to find the correct step-by-step when installing an upgrade kit to the e50.
Yes this is first time installing an upgrade kit.I have a Bing 15mm, needle set to full rich, 82 Jet, Tecno Boss Pipe, Hi Flow Foam Air Filter. Waiting for a colder spark plug to get in the mail. What am I missing about the timing ?
I've installed a new Kstar 70cc cylinder and piston kit with stock head on my e50 engine. Currently timing on the stator is in the middle of full clockwise and counter clockwise.Do I need to change the timing either forward or reverse after the kit upgrade ?
I posted earlier this week asking for links and tips installing a new kit on the E50. Finally all my parts came in, while waiting for them I did more research on the Delorto 21 and found out it's a bitch to tune.Since weather is good and I want to ride instead of working in the garage, I'm wondering if it's ok to run the 70cc piston/cylinder kit with my stock head and 15mm bing ? I
Sweet ! Thanks so much Ryan and Linda -- this should be alot of fun!
Oh and I have a Techno Boss exhaust that is already installed on the ped.
I have recently purchased a 70cc (V2 style cylinder) Treat Kit, Dellorto PHBG 21mm carb, 19mm square port intake, and jets ranging from 90-109 range for my Puch Maxi.I'm looking for some references online that might help me get started with the install. Does anyone have a similar setup ?Few questions I have....1.) Do I need to take the entire engine off the bike first ?2.) Will I need to case
I had this happen to me lately and after thinking it wasn't vapor lock...it ended up being vapor lock after all. While riding I tried to unscrew the gas cap, which let in just enough gas for me to think it wasn't vp. Then I took the gas hose off the carb and did the test into a glass jar with the engine off. I opened up the gas and it poured out for about 8 seconds then it started to slow
Thanks everyone !Ok I know what I was doing wrong...I put the assemble without the tube on the handle bars first, then tried to attach (snap) the tube into the groove. The trick was to put it together off of the bars, then slide the whole unit on together. Thx again !
I replaced the throttle cable and grips on my 1977 Puch Maxi. When I put it back together it seems like something is not fitting just right. I've attached an image that shows the end of the throttle cable sticking out of the plastic throttle assembly.I'm not sure if it's suppose to be like this or if I'm missing a cover or rigid ring or something.Currently the cable doesn'
Thanks Linda ! I'll attach the cable on the other end first - makes sense to have the tension there - Thx again!
I'm new to mopeds but mechanically able. I'm trying to replace my throttle cable and I'm having issues at the Bing carb. I can't seem to keep the end of the cable inside the carb when trying to put it back together from the top - it keeps slipping out.Should I have the other end of the cable attached at the throttle tube (currently it's not) ? What's the secret !? :)T
I rebuilt it from the ground up. Many, many months of work :)
Here is my Craigslist posting on a Silver 1977 Puch Maxi with many upgrades.High quality photos of the ped here: http://www.probe3.com/photos/puch/http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/mcy/1996501330.htmlThanks for looking
