Yeah, I noticed someone selling those NOS parts on ebay awhile back. What do you have in the way of Sabres for parts? I'm definitely in need of a new top end, as well as a gas tank and miscellaneous other stuff. I guess that mine would be described as pretty rough right now... maybe 3/4 complete. Definitely not ready to run anytime soon.
I was looking into doing this on my '68 Sabre; although the bore is the same size the positioning of the head bolts is slightly different between the bottom end on the original fan cooled engine and the top end from the air cooled engine, so the two don't mate up correctly. It's a shame, too since it seems damn near impossible to find NOS or used top ends for those older engines.
in saying "the correct jet size" do you mean that it still has the stock jet that was originally in the carb? if not, what size have you upjetted to? are you still using the stock airbox?
somewhat expensive, but their parts selection can't be beat and their service is phenomenal. shipping is always fast as hell, and they can usually get you just about anything, even if it isn't listed on the site. in their case you truly get what you pay for.
$30 including shipping. this would be for the crank, crank bearings and flywheel nut. all in excellent condition. email me if interested.
drop me an email if you're looking for a replacement. i just broke down a za50 and am in the process of listing all of the parts on ebay.
i actually had the same problem with my maxi after kitting the bike - i got ahold of a 70cc kit and performance pipe but didn't have the cash to drop on a bigger carb at the time. this resulted in the same symptoms - running way to rich, bogging at takeoff until enough air got into the mix, fouling plugs every now and then. it was very telltale too, since the bike would run fine when it was c
Hey, noticed that you're in Cinci. Have you tried getting in touch with "The Bombardment Society":http://www.mopedarmy.com/members/view/bomb/ yet? They're a really great group and they've hosted some great "events":http://www.mopedarmy.com/photos/events/moh/
Lucky you... unfortunately I wasn't aware of the hole for the idle since mine came without the covers. Still looking for a replacement set.Looks like you picked up a real beauty. I like the look of the step-through Regency. Unfortunately mine was pretty rough when I got it, so I ended up doing a full rebuild / custom job on it.
the idle screw is on top of the carb - just above the brass jet holder. if you were lucky enough to get a regency that still has the engine covers and sidecovers you'll need to take both of these off on the right side of the bike - as well as the airbox - in order to get to the idle screw.finding parts for the regency is pretty hit or miss. i always keep an eye on ebay for M56 parts since the
If it revs great on the kickstand then dies when you try to ride it, you may likely have a bad seal somewhere. It seems suspect if the bike was running great and then suddenly lost power. Make sure that everything is tightened properly (using a torque wrench) - exhaust bolts, head bolts, bolts on the intake manifold. Make sure that you have gaskets on both the intake and exhaust manifolds, as well
Matt is right, there is no need to align the hole with the intake, as gas will still flow into the carburetor regardless of the relative positioning of the two parts.
thanks for the email mike.i'm also willing to trade if anyone needs any e50 or za50 parts - i have some spare bottom ends, mostly complete minus the cranks. if interested just let me know what you need.
anybody have a spare or two?i don't need pistons, rings, heads or anything else - just the cylinder. will consider buying the entire top end if you're looking to get rid of it, though.
If you don't mind the drive, I have a Honda Express available in Ann, Arbor MI. Runs & in good shape with 2 piece biturbo installed. Pics available.Shoot me an email if you're interested - I don't check the forums very regularly.
hey, sent you an email a couple of days ago - was wondering if you got it? i'll take the stock ciao if it's available... can pick up next week if that works for you.
hey erin, if you don't have any takers on the bike or if plans fall through i'd be interested. can't make it to chicago this weekend but i could pick it up whenever. thanks!
double oops, indeed.right-click PC/control-ciick Mac and select 'view image' to see the pictures. seems to work fine that way.
i'm selling this nice jc penny pinto. currently it has an olive green motron tank that fits/works perfectly (and for some reason gets a lot of compliments.) an original pinto tank (pictured) is also included, but has been repainted a not-quire-matching-yellow. both tanks are usable as-is, but the motron one looks a bit cleaner inside.the original (black) sidecovers (not pictured) are included
Hey Beamer, I know someone who had a bunch of NOS motobecane engines. Email me if you want his contact info.Welcome, BTW.
hmm, i might have a 22 & high compression head coming back my way. i'll let you know if it does, since i don't need it for anything
i'll be happy to take that off your hands if brett doesn't
hey, either TJ or I might be interested in the 36 tooth if you still have it handy.
I have a set of gold forks and the rest of a Maxi frame that I'm not planning on using. If you're interested I'll take a look and see what kind of shape they're in.
Thanks to everyone for the numerous inquiries, but the Batavus is no longer available. The spare engine & parts have also been sold.
Sounds good. I have someone coming to look at it in the afternoon; if he doesn't pick it up then I'd be happy to let your buddy take a look at it.
