I have a bucket with a bunch of wires hanging out, I am looking for the ring headlight and switch. I need some other parts too gas tank tin for left side and handlebars and some other odds and ends. A friend dropped this off and asked me to "fix" it...it is a little rugged and clearly went down hard at some point.
I PM'd my number, I am interested in the Vespa Project and parts.

What town in NY. I'd buy it whole but need to check the travel distance from Rochester NH.
I want to put together a grande engine from available new parts. I saw much of what I need on 50ccNL but....I want to stay at 50cc to maintain moped registration. What does everyone think is the best set up for head piston exaust carb etc. and if I went up to 70cc what is the best combination of parts. Money is not an object for this project I am selling my extra kidney on Ebay in a few days.
How much are they in American Dollars? I'd love to ride my moped on the Highway!
Look for performance parts for a pw50, it's a peewee dirt bike that uses the same engine. You can get some bigger pistons etc. I think they go up to 53cc or so, maybe exhaust too. Your in the woods with this as am I. I have an engine that I had the head bored out and put in a bigger piston but the bike isn't together yet so I can't tell you how it will work out. Mike
Who makes a performance exhaust for this bike? Any suggestions on which ones are best?
PW50 parts fit them it is the same engine. I have the largest wiseco piston made for the engine and it calculates out to a 53cc I post about it once it is running.
PW50 parts carry right over I don't know about the rear end gear. If they replace theirs with ours I would just as soon keep mine. But the pistons work fine. I just completed my upgrade, I can't run it right now because the frame is chopped up but I'll let you know how it turns out in a seperate post. Also I have a spare engine and once I work out the details with it I plan to bore
The piaton is from wiseco it cost about $70 with shipping, I used the stock cyclinder in cost me $40 to have it bored out, no work to the ports. The final product wil be 53cc. I will look up the piston number for you.
I am making the mod as I go. I found a piston that can be used as a replacement that has a larger bore. I had the factory head machined to fit the oversized piston. I have removed the exhaust and will be rejetting the carb to accomodate the larger bore. I have an extra engine once I find out that it will work I will be upgrading and selling the extra engine if you are interested. It would be done
I have seen these kits on the 50cc.nl website is there anything wrong with these they are cheaper then the malosi and polini kits, would they be good for just a daily drive moped?
There are perfermance mods for the QT I have seen some engines go as high as 60cc. How much faster do you want to go? I have a 53cc QT 50 engine that I am almost finished with I will let you know how it turns out.
I don't think they will run without the brake light working. I had one a few years ago and seem to remember making myself nuts with the same issue. I think replacing the taillight bulb fixed it. Also clean the points. Somebody on here can explain how to do it on that motor I can't remember.
I have to replace the crank on an engine. Vespa Grande Deluxe. I have it stripped down and I saw that the crank case half that holds the coils has a couple of chips where the lip is that the halves fit together. Now I'm not sure if I want to use it. Does anyone know if this will be an issue? Has anyone done a complete engine rebuild? Any tips would be appreciated, like how do you fit the
Same thing happened to me with a used Ciao I bought. Turned out it had sat for years with the gas tank empty and it developed some rust. I got driving and the rust loosened and clogged the fuel valve, it took about a day of driving.Pull the fuel hose off the valve with the valve shut. Put a cup under the valve stem then open the valve. If the fuel flows freely then you have to look elsewhere.
Got my HS50 running but it is sluggish it is getting about 10 to 15 MPH. I have to clean the exhaust tomorrow. Any ideas on what else would make it not get up to speed. It has the Encarwi S8A carb so it should be a 25MPH version. Any help is appreciated. MikeP.S. This bike is going to be for sale once it is road ready.
Why would it not run the same in reserve as it does with fuel drawing from the top? That is odd. Have you cleaned the tank? You may just have some junk in the filter on the petcock? Reserve fuel just draws from the bottom of the tank, it should not affect performance unless there is a problem with the vale or strainer. Never seen a QT up close so I am just making an edjucated guess. Mike
Alas no manual, anyone seen it online?
My wifes Tomos REvival has a dead battery, anyone know how to get it out and charge it? Mike
Thanks for the help, feathering the clutch out got me going what a blast. It isn't fast but it's fun to ride around on, Mike
Alas, no one I know within close proximity understands the intricacies of navigating the standard transmission. My parents are of the opinion that, all you need to do to get a motorcycle license is fill out the organ donor portion of the application. I'll keep trying, thanks, Mike
Okay, this I did already but wasn't sure if it was good. I shifted to the different gears and the rear wheel locked up. I thought that was bad so I stopped playing with it, I thought it would be hard to push but not locked up. I tried a fe times to ease the clutch out in one smooth motion but it stalled. Then I tried to rev and let it out quick and it stalled. You are saying to pull in and ou
That sounds like my problem, But no matter how much gas I give it it stalls. Maybe I am TOO FAT for it. I found nuetral on the shifter, and I heard from there it is one click down to first then one click up to second and another up to third. Anyone know if this is correct? maybe I am shifting to the wrong gear to start off. Thanks, Mike
I picked up a 100cc suzuki dirt bike doing a trade for some Grande Mopeds. I cleaned the carb and changed the bplug cleaned the points readjusted the gap and got it to start and run well. It starts on the first kick and idles really well but when I put it in 1st gear and try to go it stalls. I usually ride mopeds because I never really learned how to shift so I was wondering if anyone had any advi
I just finished fixing a Panther that didn't run and I was trying to figure out if it needs gear oil. I can't find a fill or anyting that resembles a gear box. Is it in the hub? or is it a dry gear box? Also any other advice on this type of moped before I put it on the road would be appreciated. I fixed the fuel valve brakes carb etc., just can't think of anything else besides oilin
I have only seen red and blue are there other colors. I want to collect the whole set. LOL
Anyone know where these were made? I have heard that they were only built in the US but never found out for sure. Mike
