Hey dudes, finally got the money to throw at my Moby.its currently a stock av7 with a upgraded Sha 15 carb/intake.I live in a pretty hilly town and would like to have the low end to be a hill beast, and i wouldn't mind having a top speed of only like 40, if the low end has enough balls. What would be the first purchase you guys would make/ what setups have gotten these results for you? still o
hey guys, thanks a lot! i dont much like the looks of big-ass pipes so thats good to know that i dont really need one at this stage.with the 15.15 clones on 77 i should just use the same shorty intake i would otherwise right?winter rebuild here i come!
I run a stock 50v with the A fast cylinder, and want to upgrade my carb to a 15.15. I was lookin on 77 and they have those delorto clones, and i was wondering if anyone has any feedback on how well they do.also what exhaust would you recomend?im hoping to port and get my top speed up to 40 (its around 33 now), but have decent low end and hill climbin. is that possible with a carb/exhaust/port?
my stock gurtner ran like a beaut till i upgraded for performance.you can get them to work. just keep goin for it, check your gaskets, put it back together correctly, soak it for a hell of a long time, use compressed air, hold your main jet up to the sun and make sure you can see all the way through it.
check your condenser. probs the thing.
yeah, so the manual has led me to believe, but i cant seem to do it. should i use a crowbar and some friends? or like a chisel and a hammer? im repainting so i dont mind chipin stuff.
Has anyone had much success getting moby fork assemblys off?any tips? cant seem to get anywhere with them.
yeah, you can upgrade, or try the Buy/Sell forum. everyone upgrading from stock means an abundance of stock carbs, you should be able to pick one up on the cheap if you just ask around.
make sure your petcock is sealing off the flow. also check the threads on the exhaust, its common for mobys to strip out.
a crescent wrench is always handy, thats what i use for pedals, and for most everything else too. i think the right is reverse, but dont quote ME on that:)
had that same prob mopedjay, i heard that chopping it up helps or something, but i cant get it back in the hole after i took a kitchen knife to it.also my bike just revs and revs and the back wheel spins like 3 inches off the ground. WTF!! im leaning forward as far as i can, but still getting like 0mph!
yeah, looked up the manual doesnt say what size jet.doesnt anyone know the stock jet for a 505?
Hey, never worked on a Sachs before and my friend just got one, tryin to get it runnin for him.its a 1980 Eagle i believe. As i was cleaning the carb i could not find a main jet anywhere! i think the previous owner either lost it or was running without one. this is on a 505 1A i think, and its a bing. should the jet be like, in the bowl directly below the intake from the fuel line? And what size ran
the pop is just a backfire, you arent gonna blow up or anything...i hope.backfire can be caused by your timing being funky, or air leaks i believe. to unchoke you gotta pull your throttle all the way open (on mine you have to put your weight into it, like past full throttle.)
yeah, it definately needs some grease, thanks guys. it has 1100 miles on it and i doubt its been maintained very well.found the source of the noisiest noise tho, the front wheel is squeaking a TON, and if i rock the bike back on the stand and try to spin the wheel it doesnt, it just stops after a few inches.
hey my 50v has been makin tons of noise, and i think its just due a greasing. anyone greased one of these without a grease gun? i dont have one. anything else that may cause noise?also my carb doesnt have an air filter, and everytime i start from a stop it shoots some fuel onto my ankle from the air intake hole...what might be causing that?the bike runs fine, like 33, and idles most of the time de
if you pull the valve, it will stop your engine in no time. a lot of people, including me, use it as a kill switch if you have hardwired your ped. just get in there and make sure its plugged up.
Is there a good way to just lock my 50v in motor mode? cuz i ground down screws to replace the rivet that connects the arm from the switch to the spring, because the rivet totally broke....but the screw held up for one ride and got dead.now i just wanna lock it in motor mode, and have done with it.has anyone done this?
Things we just tried:Blue/Black(Stator) to groundBlue(stator) to Blue(Ignt. Coil)Brown(Ingt. Coil) to ground......nothinopened it up, checked the points again, way tight clean and timing near enough that there should be some spark. Then just for the hell of it connected ALL the wires according to the wiring diagram, just so i was sure that everything was grounded correctly........nothincurse? we be
hey, i am interested in your drive pulley, a pedal arm and pedal. shipped to 84341, email me.
great, like the video idea. im lookin for a pedal arm and pedal, dont have to be nice. just have to clear the variator, and a pulley, has to work but doesnt have to look great. like that one you pulled outta the tub!
how much for a pedal and crank arm??
how much for the forks shipped?
what about your left crank arm and pedal? oh, and the seat.
Any Moby crank arms or pedals in that hubbub?
we have got a Motron medalist here with no front hub, its got the snowflake mags on it, and we were wondering if a puch or french or any other more common hub would work?baby runs like a dream, but cant be ridden!
