After a not-so-brief stint with DPT, I think it is time for me to return to the world of mopeds again, so I am looking to pick up a bike that is in running condition but may need some TLC. I don't have a whole lot of time to work on motor issues to start, as I need something that can get me from A to B in the meantime. That said, if you have a near-stock (or even decked out if you're f
Anyone have any suggestions? I haven't had to do so before, and I've heard of many different techniques. What works best for you?
I need to snag any muffler that'll fit the mobylette 50v ASAP. My stock one is broken and keeps waking up the neighbors.
I could really use one of these. Anyone have a spare one lying around?
I am open for a price range below 1k. Anything more is too steep.
I'm looking to buy a puch maxi that is in relatively good shape. Preferably, the motor is in functioning order, and the body is in good shape. Feel free to email me or post.
Are you changing the price to buy only tomos nbr 1? I am fairly interested.
I'd love to snag the bravo wheelset. I'll have to get back to you on the front fork, as my moped is in another state at the moment, but I may be interested in those too. Pics would be awesome.
I should clarify. My rims are fairly rusty as well, so I was hoping to find both at once.
Looking to pick up some rims that have better brakes. My pads are junky, and I can't find the right replacements new.
I was thinking the moped. But I've always wondered if zombies could drive....
Can anyone find a single thing wrong with this picture? I think not.!imagecache2.allposters.com/images/ARGCARD/12363.jpg!
Actually, it is a bit different given that I have my Colorado license. Since SFPD considers me to be an illegal moped driver, they have a hold on it for up to 30 days at 50 dollars per day. I may just sign the papers over to auto return. I'm feeling pretty defeated and broke enough that i cant afford much more than the already 450 dollar fine. Hopefully someone cool will get it if I can
Tragically, the plate was torn off in a violent battle with a bike rack. I had it stashed away in my toolbox under my vespa to put on later. Foolish of me not to just tack it on somewhere, but I've seen so many unregistered mopeds, I never thought anything of it. My mistake. Does anyone know how long the impound holds a vehicle before it goes to auction?
I'm not eligible for a CA license because I am only a temporary resident. E.G. I'm an out-of-state student, and that's enough for them to say I can't get it. That's how the DMV explained it at least.
In response to sunsetrob's post, the reg is not a huge problem. In fact, all I had to do to take care of that was to show any CA officer my plate and they'll sign off the infraction. My bigger problem is getting an M2 before my fees for impound get to preposterous levels.
So some of you may know already, some not, but my motobecane got impounded on saturday. The problem, though, is that I am a resident of Colorado who happens to be a student in SF. Since mopeds dont take an motorcycle license in Colorado, I never thought twice about having problems. So I got a ticket for not having an m2 license in California. I went to the courthouse to explain that I did not
Someone was asking earlier about what exactly happened. Here's the scoop: I was riding on upper haight driving safer than usual (there was a lot of traffic). As I was pushing myself up to the first stop sign west of Masonic, I saw a moto cop sitting in the bus stop area. I decided that it would be prudent to drive quite slowly and avoid opening the throttle. What I didn't take into a
Actually, it's only been m2 since 2006. Just looked it up so I'd know a bit about it before a trip to the lot and the dmv. At any rate, it's not like it's an unavoidable problem.
In this case it's the little motor. Oh, I am so clever.
haight in general has been a pain for me. A couple weeks ago, I got pulled over for a too loud muffler. He didn't even mention the plates. I guess it is pretty sporadic for knowledge.
P.S. It's for the moby's bail money. Not profiteering pirates!
Sort of related... Is anyone interested in buying a 78 bravo? At the moment, it is not running since an excursion where I got mugged (I'm just pathetic, I know), but the whole of the bike is in good shape minus the chain tensioner. If youre interested, I'm happy to give a deal to another MA member in the bay area.
Just what I Could figure out. This is my first "project" even though it was an easy one. I replaced the carb (easy peasy), muffler (also), replaced throttle and brakes along with a new handlebar, and hardwired it. I also took my first stab at chipping carbon out of the cylinder. At any rate, it was a great learning experience. I must have spent twenty bucks calling 411 for 1977 mope
My ticket says it will be 194. What's really shitty is that I just invested that much in new parts yesterday. Meh, I should have been more careful and made sure I was following the rules. I was, however, entirely unaware that they changed the license law. In 2006, it moved from c class to m2. tragic.
Well that's interesting. My moped got impounded today as well... time to go get an m2 license.
